  • It’s a two in one device with great safety features!
Color: Orange
I chose to buy this chick heater among many other choices, because it seemed to be the most secure one to provide heat for my little chicks without cooking them before time and without burning my house down. I am working 12 hours night shifts, alternating with sleeping during the day, with very little time to spare on attending to my chickens. When there’s no one home for many hours during my work days, safety becomes critical. The chickcozy heater is very sturdy, impossible to tumble it, because resting on four legs. These legs are adjustable to fit your chicken’s needs during their development. It has a thermostat also, which is working flawlessly, giving me peace of mind while working 12 hours night shifts alternating with sleeping during the day. Another benefit is that now, when my chickens are fully grown I can use this device again as a wall heater inside the chicken coop during the winter months. I just need to hang it up, plug it in, adjust the thermostat and forget about it until spring. Of course, I will check it periodically for safety and eventually adjust the thermostat accordingly to the weather, but I have high confidence in it. I would recommend whole heartedly this device to anyone, especially to those who have a busy schedule and who have no one home for most of the day to attend to a heat lamp. Safety is critical, and this chick heater proven to be thrust worthy, light on my electric bill, providing me a two in one device which I will use it again and again for many winters in the future. It’s a great investment to have! Inspired by chickcozy’s reliability and quality, later on I chose their automated solar powered chicken coop door for my self made chicken coop, and in the end it proved to be a great solution for my peculiar schedule and lifestyle. ... show more

  • I love this heat plate and so do my chickens!
Color: Orange
First, I've kept chickens in an area of broad ranging seasonal climate for a long time. Some years I've had short sleeves on 3 days before Christmas, other years the wind chill has made it feel like -25. I choose breeds of hardy chickens that can tolerate episodic periods of high summer heat but also survive negative temperatures with little intervention on my part. I have brooder lamps and I have had more expensive heat plates (Brinsea brand) for brooder pens but this one is equally as good, if not better. I love this one for my actual coop for my "big girls". First, it can be mounted on the coop wall to make a cozy spot for the smaller or younger chickens, or those going through moulting. It is almost no risk for fire if installed properly and, like anything else, looked after and cleaned regularly. As a brooder plate, it is very adjustable insofar as height and temperature. The temperature control is accurate (I tested it with a thermometer on the floor underneath the plate) and makes it much easier to know what temperature is being maintained for tiny chicks. My other plates did not have this handy feature. They were just either on or off. The included cover makes the consequences of baby chick poo a quick task. It is sturdy, easy to clean, resilient to dust and tolerant of other consequences of being wall installed in a coop with adult hens, some of whom are larger breeds (orpingtons, brahmas). They have been curious and pecked at it, even tried to roost on it! Thankfully, it is slim enough that they cannot. In any case, it remains undamaged by a flock of over 30 chickens and has helped them through some intensely cold nights this winter as well as give them a place to go and warm up during cooler days. *The plate is NOT meant to heat a whole coop, so do not buy this with the expectation that it will.* The only drawback, which isn't truly a big deal, is that there is no cover for the exposed upper edge when the plate is wall mounted. In a coop with an enclosed run external to the roosting/nesting area where it can be placed, this is not a big deal. In a coop like mine that does not have this, it can be tricky to find a spot that isn't under a roosting bar where it would get pooped on. It is an easy enough fix though. I just put a piece of plexiglass a few inches above the upper edge of the heat plate (not touching it), mounted at an angle so the chickens can't sit or stand on it and it has worked wonderfully. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product and so are my chickens. I would absolutely 100% recommend it. I will add that the company is also super responsive and very polite. We have their solar coop door as well (which I really love and HIGHLY recommend - it is truly the best and safest I've ever seen or had) and had a problem with the solar unit, which they resolved promptly and without any issue. ... show more

  • Flexible uses
Color: Orange
I can't say enough good things about this brooder heating plate. It's adjustable - can be raised or lowered or even angled - for just the right positioning. Its temp can be adjusted as well (from 70 degrees to over 110 degrees). When not in use as a brooder heater for little chicks, it can be hung on the wall inside the coop and used to provide a "warm zone" for adults in the winter. See pictures I posted to show the ways I'm using it. Since purchasing it, I've used it twice for newly hatched chicks, and loved not having to worry about fire, overheating, etc. It worked like a charm! ... show more

  • Heat Plate or Heat Lamp - Choose This Heat Plate!
Color: Orange
Was bigger than expected, which was nice - very good quality and works well in brooder for all chicks. Heating plate was super simple to set up & adjust. Originally we thought we were going to use it in the horizontal position, but seemed a little shakey, so we switched to the vertical position on the legs & seems more stable. Took seconds to set up and seems like will be super easy to transport from brooder to coop, once the time comes! ... show more

  • Warm enough and silent.
Color: Orange
I looked over the two sided heaters but questioned mounting them against wall. This heater is very hot to the touch. It's not a barn burner but a barn burner is last think I needed. Amazon got it here overnight rather than two day. I appreciate that. Chickens too rowdy for floor placement. Suspending from ceiling would be in the way, so on the wall it went. After a 7 degree Fahrenheit night, chickens seemed happy enough and it was above freezing on the roosts with heater on full blast. Cold on the floor. Their water froze a little. Below zero tonight. Hoping for the best. Easy to mount (for some reason dry wall anchors were included but not needed in chicken coop), silent and out of the way. As long as it keeps working...I'll be happy and so will the chickens. ... show more

  • Safe, Reliable, and Perfect for Chicks
Color: Orange
I’ve been raising chicks for years and recently added the Chickcozy brooder heat plate and coop heater to my setup—and I’m beyond impressed! This product has quickly become one of my favorite poultry care investments. The brooder heat plate mimics a mother hen perfectly. My chicks snuggle underneath it and seem so content. It’s much safer than traditional heat lamps (which always made me nervous), and I love the peace of mind knowing there’s less fire risk. It’s also energy-efficient and super easy to adjust as the chicks grow. I love the thermostat because I can drop the temperature as the chicks grow to help them acclimate to being off heat completely. As for the coop heater, it’s a game-changer during those chilly nights. It provides just enough warmth to take the edge off without overheating the coop & I feel so much more comfortable using this than any other form of heat because it’s safe around bedding. The built-in thermostat helps regulate the temperature. Chickcozy knocked it out of the park, again! ... show more

  • Unreliable
Color: Orange
Worked great for about 36 hours then I got the red light (element heated too long). Unplugged, started again, worked fine for a few hours. Then blinking green light which the manual says is questionable power source. Both times the panel was ice cold. Thankfully I was just giving my adult birds a hand. If I had been using this as a brooder heat source it would have been fatal. I verified that the power source was fine. I plugged it into a different outlet, same problem. I reached out to Smart Coop and got no response. I also noticed that they had a lot of reviews on their website of people having the same problem. I got product support from Amazon. They said that the blinking green light could also be if the ambient temperature was too cold and the unit was having trouble stabilizing. The ambient temperature in the coop was 5 degrees F. That's why I bought a heater...because it was too cold. I wouldn't need a heater if it was warm out. Where I live, we can get temps down to -40F. If it's fizzing out on me at 5F, there is no way it's going to work when it really gets subzero which is when I need it the most. Seems to me that the smart technology is backfiring and that a dumb coop heater would've been more effective. ... show more

  • The Best Brooder Plate Choice
Color: Orange
I am so glad I did my research on these things and spent a little more money. Most of the cheaper ones don't have adjustable heat. This one does and it works. It fluctuates slightly here and there (I have a digital thermometer I keep in there), but it holds the heat overall. My chicks love it and I personally love that I don't have to keep a light on 24/7 and that it's less of a fire risk than the lamps. If you're considering a brooder plate, this is the one you should spend your money on. I also like that it can act as a coop heater because I live in Idaho and some Januaries can be brutal. This was a great purchase. ... show more
