I actually got this to install in a wire fence for my chicken coop. It worked perfectly. I had to improvise a little because it’s really meant for a thin screen. That being said I used zip ties to double secure it to the wire for a secure fit. It’s the perfect chicken size. Chickens started using it immediately with the flap propped open. The media could not be loaded. This is such a convenient screen accessory! Clark loves sitting in the sun on the back deck. It's taking him a bit of time to get used to it. But it sure beats him yelping at the door to get in and out through out the day. It is rather sturdy, was easy to assemble and I love fact that it has tabs to lock it shut when needed.

To have fit together perfectly out of the box, but then when you mount it, and the screen is between the 2/2, you can only align them using the edges of the frames. Once I punched the screws through the screen, there was enough of thread to secure the nuts. if I did it over, I would put the screws in all holes of one side, put it against the screen, and punch them all through the screen so it would just hang there then it should be easier to just fit the other frame half by matching the screws and holes. Works great and my puppy figured it out in five minutes.

We installed it in the solid thin metal sheeting at the bottom of a screen door. The hardest part by far was cutting the metal of the door. The actual installation was a breeze, and it has stayed in place very strong and the magnet has consistently worked well. I think our install was much more problematic than a typical door installation, so if it has worked this well for us, it should work great for you.

I was dubious as to whether any dog door would work very well mounted to a screen door. We mounted one of these over ten years ago and it worked incredibly well until one of the swivel pins broke off. When I got the new door, I mounted just the door flap to the old frame and it works like a charm. I plan to repair the pin on the broken flap and keep it as a spare. This is a great product that works incredibly well. A magnet holds the door closed so bugs can't get in.

This door was pretty easy to install. It took my dog a few tries to understand how to open it, but she eventually got it. Now she’s in and out whenever she wants to. And there’s no more bugs in the house as I can keep my screen door closed while giving my dog freedom to go in the backyard. I also like that I can easily lock it if I don’t want her to go outside.

So glad I ordered this even though husband argued against it. Son and girlfriend installed it....easy peasy. It will keep the bugs out now that we can keep the screen door closed.
