The weather stripping they send sucks so I ordered some of my own and Iโ€™m going to install that today. There are lots of cracks. I decided against installing permanently because Iโ€™m renting and it seems to be holding up fine. This is a game changer for me because Iโ€™m a nurse and work 12.5 hour days. I feel so bad for my pup but she LOVES being outside so now she can go inside and outside as she pleases. (Iโ€™m waiting for her AirTag and collar holder before giving her complete free range) the magnet on the door seems to be strong enough. I just wish the seal was better overall and that the glass was a bit thicker. I donโ€™t think it would take much to break this. ... show more

After reading all the dimensional information I realized this could install in the existing side-door space with only a minor wooden strip about 1" thick as a spacer. No vertical modifications were necessary as the vertical piece is spring-loaded and snapped in place. Looks and works great!

The media could not be loaded. I did my research and where it was going to be installed it was exactly 80". I measured from the inside of the sliding door track which is the same alignment as the main sliding door lock. It arrived with NO Cracks since it was glass. Plus the bottom flap was already installed. It is also has a magnetic bottom that you can hear it click when it touches the bottom of the inside panel. I didn't screw anything up as I'm renting and need this to move with me. Moreso when we go on vacation I want to be able to fully lock the sliding door, so being 100% easily removable was a must. Plus it was all flushed for me, so no extra padding, etc was needed. I have 1 Applehead Chihuahua, 1 Mixed Chihuahua and 1 Pitbull / Cane Corso mix dog. I ordered the 75" - 80" Large White and it's a DREAM. I luv the freedom it gives all of them to come and go as they please. It's taking some training with them but I'm happy to do it for them. It was pretty much just what I was looking for but I didnโ€™t need to modify it. A few things for when installing. 1) While it says this could be a permanent fixture; you can basically kick it in with your foot with out that much effort. However for when I am at home and just would like to have an option for my dog to come in and out as he would like, do also keep bugs and or rain out as well as mild hot or cold air โ€” this works great. 2) I am keeping it mobile portable so I can move it in between the outer part of my door to parallel the screen door or the inner part of the glass sliding door. This way if I would like to have the screen there for air to come in I can still have it next to it for my dog to come in and out. Or if I want to put it in the inner part for a hot day when I donโ€™t want hot air coming in, I can move it to the inner part of the door. 3) it came with a weatherstrip to put on the sliding door that moves back-and-forth to prevent the wind or air from coming in between the doors; but it is large and bulky and would not really fit or match my sliding door. Instead what I ended up doing was buying a strip of which I have included photos of at the hardware store; and then I got some two-sided tape, and I put that tape on the inner part of the sliding door by the glass; and then I put the weatherstrip along that. Making sure to just line it from the part of the top to the bottom that goes to the glass; not on the metal frame because it would not be level. I went with a temporary two-sided tape instead of the permanent; because I wanted to test it out first in case I didnโ€™t like it. I will probably eventually replace the temporary tape with the permanent tape if this does not last; I am not sure how long the strength of the temporary tape will hold up. I would suggest starting with the temporary tape so you can get a feel for how to install it; because the permanent tape would be very difficult I think to remove from the door later. 4) The weatherstrip that I put on the part of the glass dog door that connects to the other glass or sliding screen door; works pretty well except for a few spots thereโ€™s gaps; iโ€™m assuming this is because my door framing is not perfectly square. It is however very minor and overall I think this improves it. 5) it comes with security bolts to attach to the sliding door that you can have a little pen to lock into the other sliding door at the bottom. However that would just be a lot of work I thought to drill all that; so instead what I did was cut a board to the length of the gap between the frame and the end of the door when it is flush to the dog door. This way the door cannot be opened more, but all I had to do was cut a board; instead of screw a bunch of bolts and drill a bunch of holes into the door. 6) The plastic dog door itself works good as long as thereโ€™s no major wind. With any significant wind blowing the door will constantly blow open. I think this may be because only the bottom of the door has magnets. The sides of the door do not have magnetic parts to them. I read and other reviews that you can buy a second door to attach to the plastic dog door; and that is supposed to keep it shut in higher winds so Iโ€™m going to try that. I also may experiment with them magnetic tape to put on the sides somehow perhaps to keep it shut better. For the price of this I wouldโ€™ve thought they would have more thought into how to make this more functional; but it really is a handy nifty thing and I do not regret buying it. The media could not be loaded. I'll start by saying that my husband is an extremely handy guy, and he was having quite a few issues with installing this door ๐Ÿ˜…. The 3M black weather stripping that comes with it, we found to be useless. We used our own 1/4 inch thick weather stripping to seal the gap between the sliding glass door and the doggy door. The one provided is likely supposed to be used on the back of the sliding glass door, to cover the gap that is created from the door no longer lining up where it used to. The issue with this is that you can not open the sliding glass door, and it's not aesthetically pleasing. We are still trying to find another solution to cover that gap. As far as the door, I attached a short video of 2 out of 3 of our dogs going through the door (please excuse them, they desperately need to be brushed, and please excuse the fingerprints all over the glass; we have 2 small children who can't figure out how NOT to put their hands all over every square inch of glass they come into contact with). According to the size chart, it was recommended that we get the Large-Tall door for our two bigger dogs, but after reading the reviews on this one I decided to get it and hope for the best. Our two bigger dogs are about 19 1/2 inches tall, and they have no issue going through the door. Overall happy with the purchase because now I don't have three dogs waking me up through out the night at separate times, to go out or come back in ๐Ÿ™ƒ. ... show more

We bought this because we are in a rental house but wanted our dogs to be able to go outside. I bought the size recommended for our dogs weight but really should have gone up a size. My husband didn't like that using this we couldn't lock our sliding glass door and we would have to buy another piece to lock the door. The only issue we had with the door, it is is a step up for the dogs to go in and out. This was hard for our older dog. It is easy to install and if we owned a house this would be a good option that you could permanently install. ... show more
