  • Really Nice Computer!
Style: 14700K | 4070 Super
The media could not be loaded. I'm really pleased by this computer. This is the first preassembled computer I've bought in many years but at the price it would be hard to make one of these yourself for much less. I was really impressed with the quality of work here. The case is built like a tank and the assembly and packing was first rate. I had the sides and back panel off to install additional 2.5 inch SSD drives, it has plenty of space for 2.5 inch or even mechanical drives and it appears to have 6 SATA ports though I can't confirm they are all SATA 3.2, but they may well be. 4 are in a cluster and then there are 2 on a lower part of the ASUS mobo. I'm doing heavy duty editing on this machine (as well as gaming), so I need additional storage and swap drives, but for most people the stock SSD will get you by for a long time, if not forever. You should take the back panel off though when you get this machine unpacked, even if you're not installing drives, as there is a piece of paper in the drive port area (and a shockingly nice screwdriver and some screws for drives, if you need them) that probably wont hurt anything, but you don't want it in there for years drying out and potentially creating a fire hazard or stopping airflow. The cable routing back there was first rate. Make sure you check all connections for tightness after shipping (this is recommended in the start up guide), mine did have a loose USB port connector. This case has the nicest side panel mounting I've seen. It was just easy to get them on and off. 2 Tool less captive thumbscrews and they slip off and on without drama or having to find slots. They sit in a lip and slide in easily. That's not always the case. Some of these cases, the side panels are a real PITA. These are not. Also the glass in the one side panel was thick and really seems high quality. It seems to be actual glass, not plexiglass. The top port setup and power button is perfect for a floor mount. This thing runs quiet as a mouse. I mean it's silent most of the time. I didn't change the fan settings, it's not running hot, it's liquid cooled and I'm not OCing it at this point, so I left the BIOS mostly alone. I only hear the graphics card fans ramp up when doing heavy graphics work or particularly challenging gaming moments and its not loud or annoying. It's a whisper of sound. It's a very pleasant computer to be around. It's got plenty of power for gaming, running RDR2 at max settings and its doing that like nothing. I've not benchmarked it, but it's obvious from the smoothness that its running at a very high FPS. Pretty impressed with the 4070 Super. The I7 14700K is a power hungry beast so bear that in mine when buying a battery back up. Also, very important, this computer comes with a keyboard and mouse. I saw nothing about that in the description/specs, so I went and bought a keyboard and mouse, only to discover they are included with the computer and quite nice to boot. The mouse that came with mine, ironically, was crushed and had a cracked top. It's a lightweight lattice type and they are a bit fragile. I imagine it got smashed during shipping, despite this being very well packed, the computer itself is a heavy bugger and shippers these days are not the most gentle with heavy items. Anyway, Amazon gave me a very generous allowance for the mouse and I was able to pick up a new one on Ebay that is an identical Skytech branded unit. The mouse is a pretty cool, nicely lighted and comfortable, or I probably would not have bothered with getting the same unit, but I really like the mouse. It's a good looking computer and it puts on quite a light show. As a guy who has worked with computers in a business environment and used sterile, boring workstations, it's like really pretty disco lol. If you hate lights, I think they can be turned off (I've not tried it, but I assume that's the case), but I really like it. It has Signal RGB software, where you can use different light sets or make your own. You can adjust everything and just have them one color or a whole array of different looks. I love it, but if you don't, there are options. All in all, I love the computer. It's great for gaming, well designed, exceptionally well built case, nice components, well assembled and thought out. 5 Stars. Hopefully it will last. Thus far it's been a joy. Exceeded expectations. Well done Skytech. ... show more

  • Great PC, But COIL WHINING make sure the PC you get doesn't have that.
Style: 9700KF | 1660 Super
Yea it's prebuilt. But overall it's very good. I can play any game at max graphics with no lag. Well over 144+ FPS. I do suggest this to starters. You can upgrade parts and everything. I have coil whining in mine it doesn't affect anything at all. It's just a bit annoying you won't get it to be certain. I suggest just turning it on and running on max graphics and see if you hear any noise. Overall 10/10 love this PC! ... show more

  • Motherboard was not Windows 11 ready
Style: 9700KF | 1660 Super
This review is specifically for the SkyTech Chronos Mini Gaming Computer PC Desktop - Intel Core-i7 9700KF 3.6GHz, GTX 1660 Super 6G, 1TB SSD. The reviews seem to be covering PCs with different specs. The specs on Amazon said this PC was going to have a 600w power supply, and the "quality control" document enclosed with the PC said it was checked and it had the correct power supply. It was actually 550 watts, not 600. There was a piece of paper inside the packaging that said, "STOP! Please follow the instructions in the Quick Start guide." There was no Quick Start guide. I had to look online, using my wife's laptop. The USB 3.0 port on the top right of the case does not work reliably. I found a small stainless hand twist screw rolling around in the bottom of the case. I sent an email to Tech Support, and to their credit, they answered my email very quickly. They said the Chronos Mini does not have that kind of screw anywhere in it, so I should be okay. I have never ordered a PC of any kind online; this was my first (Oct 2021). If the description I provided above was all that was wrong with it, I would have been satisfied with the purchase. However, after the PC arrived, I discovered that the SkyTech PC I bought is not compatible with Windows 11. After doing some research, I discovered that it might be the case that my motherboard will NEVER be upgradable to Windows 11. I recommend you make very sure whatever PC you purchase is fully and automatically compatible with Windows 11. ... show more

  • Just some fancy looking junk!
Style: 9700KF | 1660 Super
This went bad within a week. I am no expert, but to me it seems like the power supply was not good. It stopped powering on. Returning this now, but I will never buy an off-brand again. The whole return process is affecting my son's online classes, since this computer no longer works. I would NOT recommend this to anyone! ... show more

  • So far so good!...
Style: 9700KF | 1660 Super
So after doing some research on PCs that offered the most bang for the buck, I came across this one while I was looking over a different PC. For only a couple hundred bucks more, this unit here offered an upgrade on every key component the one I'd been look at had. Same company, though. So I did a review on the Video card this PC had in it, and turns out Linus over at LinusTech gave it a big thumbs up. That was what sealed the deal for me. Got it yesterday, unboxed it, and felt the boxing itself was pretty decent. Even had foam padding packed inside the case! Nice touch. So following the "First Setup" guide from the "Paul's Hardware" video, I got this machine up and running without a hitch. First impressions were that the machine is pretty dang quiet despite all the fans inside the case. The RGB is pretty much like any other machine out there, so no opinion there. All in all, and despite not actually running it through its paces yet, I'm still pretty pleased with my purchase. It's actually a backup machine to the Gaming Rig I have right now. I bought this one so I'd have a backup! Learned my lesson on that 2 weeks ago. Probably my only complaint is that on most ready-to-go machines like this, they almost ALWAYS put in the bare minimum size Power Supply. This unit is no different. 600 watt is not very big IMO. But again, I haven't actually pushed the machine to its limits yet so... I might not have a complaint at all :) ... show more
