Windows 10 dose require you to install drivers first before use luckily the drivers are on the device itself (I don't trust the CD.) Linux was not a issue though it was Plug & Play (PopOS was used other distros may vary.) The minus of one star though is the long wait for the device to recognize when after booting into Windows 10 (after installing drivers) from 15 seconds to a minute (it's very random) Linux though it's not as bad (5 to 20 seconds.) Other than these issues it's not bad and it can detect a far away router pretty well. The Bluetooth is not bad either. However if your going to have more than two connections (one WiFi one Bluetooth) have this plugged into a minimum USB 3.0 for okay results or a 3.2 port for best results. Had stuttering audio when on a 2.0 port with a WiFi connecting to WiFi, BT Headphones, and a BT Controller at the same time. I switched over to a 3.2 port and I had no further issues. I did test in 3.0 port as well with no issues either. If you need one on the cheap it's a okay deal just note that it's a tad quirky at times.

This adapter works fine but if you do mistakes such as forgetting to remove it from your laptop and you put your laptop inside a bag with it, it'll internally break. Visually there is no problem with it but it won't be detected or turn on. This is very fragile to be used for portable cases while for a desktop computer it's better to go get a heavy duty antenna that is around 2 times faster. The only time that you may think about this thing is for portable use while it's very fragile. I don't recommend it at all. I give it 2 stars just because it works reasonably for its size. Update: I reduce it to one star because there is fire hazard if you try to fix it. There is just a tiny board in this device and if you play too much with it inside the USB port without protection, there is a chance that you surge electricity in it and turns super hot very fast. This is one of the worst USB designs. Technically two super narrow sticks of plastic hold the metal part from the body and makes sure proper metal to metal contact in USB. I can't remember anything to the level of this cheap design.

Adapter easily connected to my PC usb port. It saw various available wireless networks. Once connection established signal was maintained throughout day. Connection speed was very good, and I was able to download documents with no difficulty. I found this adapter to be very good value for my cost. There has not been any difficulty keeping its connection securely. I found it durable, having dropped it a few times while attaching it to my PC USB port.

Initially, the DVD writer in my HP laptop had a hard time reading the enclosed installation CD because I'd accidentally broken a tab off the drive which made reading disks a little difficult. Thus, when I finally got it to spin right, I copied the setup files from the disk to my laptop, holding my breath as the files streamed. Afterwards, I installed the drivers for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth components. The Wi-Fi bit worked fine. Bluetooth, however, gave me a hard time by not working, or working sporadically. Looking in Device Manager, I noticed my old Bluetooth 4.2 card was enabled and this new Bluetooth device disabled. When I tried to enable it, it wouldn't turn on, even after I'd disabled the 4.2 card. I thus had to open up my laptop and physically remove the WLAN card which houses the circuitry for both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. When I rebooted Windows, not only was the Wi-Fi still functional, but now the Bluetooth component was working. Despite the slight snag, this device works fine. Bluetooth sounds good, doesn't drop out, and has a nice reach, and Wi-Fi works fine, not great, but acceptable. I should be getting better speeds, but I attribute that to my 5-year-old router which I sorely need to upgrade.
