This saw is great for what it is. It has the power to cut what you need to cut and is easy to handle due to its lighter weight. The easy access to chain tensioning and bar/chain removal makes this easy to adjust and work on without any other tools. I would not recommend this saw for bigger trees due to its size. The battery would die very quickly.. but it can absolutely cut most things a regular household user would need to cut. The battery life is where I think it is crucial to purchase a second battery so that you can rotate them out as you're working. I got about an hour of runtime out of my saw, which isn't terrible but I would have liked to continue on a little longer. That is where the quick 15 minute charge is nice, but I would still like to be able to pop another battery in and keep at it. Overall, this is a GREAT saw for the money and I would definitely recommend. ... show more

First what I liked. It's lightweight, very handy to use, don't have to screw with carburetor and gas, it's cut everything I've asked it to do including logs more than 36 in across by coming in from both sides. The only real downside is the batteries. They go flat pretty fast. They do recharge quickly except....they get hot when you use them even in 60° weather, and it takes them longer to cool off than it does to charge. Well I guess the good side is, you get a rest, even with two batteries. One thing I've discovered is that if you hang it with the chain blade up, the oil won't drain out and you don't have to deal with it draining the reservoir down to keep it from leaking in storage. As you can see in the pictures, it handles big logs, hang at blade side up, and prepare to spend a lot of time waiting for the batteries to charge. On a log the size in the picture, it uses more than one battery to cut through. That said, it's handy! Is the easiest chain adjustment/replacement I've ever had on a chainsaw. You've got to like that! ... show more

I love my Skil saw. It is perfect for cutting out small trees and bushes. I am always doing maintenance landscaping around the farm and this chainsaw is so much easier to start than a gas powered saw. It also gets the job done.

I am very pleased with my first chainsaw. It's light, easy to maneuver, and cuts well. I used it to cut down overgrown yew bushes that had turned into trees - branches 3-5" diameter, and trunks 8- 10" diameter. The battery runs at least an hour. That's about how long my battery lasts, too, so it works for me. I knew that chainsaws needed bar oil (hardware or home improvement store). I bought a bigger bottle but later figured out the small bottle would be fine for my yard projects. Note: I didn't realize that chainsaws often release a little bit of the bar oil when you turn it off. Be careful where you set it. Once I got through the warnings to not use it in a swimming pool, or cut the branch you're standing on, the rest of the directions about safe operation were very helpful. I have to say, this chainsaw was very empowering for this 65 year old woman! Here, hold my beer... ;-) ... show more

As luck would have it, I purchased the saw a few weeks prior to a neighbor's tree falling into my back yard on 4 Aug, 2024, so all of my comments are based on using a brand new saw. I was able to cut up the entire 45' length that was in my yard on 2 charges of the battery, working alone over the course of 3 really hot days in East TN. Charger recharges the battery in about an hour. I was able to work about 5 hours on the first day of cutting and stacking, charged the battery, and finished after another 2 hours on 2 more days. The tree in the photos was cut up by 15 Aug. 3 months later, the battery still showed fully charged. The saw comes without oil in the reservoir, so the first thing you need to do is get some bar and chain oil and fill the reservoir before the first use. The saw is well-balanced; I didn't notice any undue fatigue in either arm or hand after using the saw for a few hours. It is designed to be used with the right hand on the trigger. Although less noisy than a gasoline-powered saw, I recommend good hearing protection, such as over the ear muffs. It's pretty easy to adjust the chain tension. The manual that comes with the saw is written clearly and has the information you need for maintenance and safe cutting. I can't comment on the ease of changing the chain or sharpening it, since I haven't needed to do either, yet. ... show more

This is a terrific/manageable chainsaw for light to medium duty cutting . We had a lot of tree damage from last winter and it made short work of cutting up branches up to 4-6" in diameter It handled some 10-12" logs but those bigger logs sucked battery charge rather quickly. So it helps to have ye old gas chainsaw handy for the bigger stuff - or get an extra battery or two. If you work smart you can coordinate the fast battery recharge with hydration, food, and bathroom breaks I'd cut till the battery ran low and charge it while I'd haul, stack, and cleanup. Throw in a coffee break now and then and I rarely had to wait to cut. I would buy it again and have already recommended it to friends ... show more
