  • Easy instal, small, works well, easy to clean out sediment.
Style: DC5P-40/200
Installed unit on home water line, I have my own well. Used supplied 40 micron vs 200 micron filter because next filter in line is a spun rope filter which removes finer particles. This unit pulls the larger particles out prior to the finer filter and makes that filter last longer. So easy to clean out, a quarter twist of valve at bottom blows out all debris and sediment. Internal design causes a turbine action inside filter and you can watch it flushing itself clean. Light weight, can be installed inline without a support bracket. Unit has no mounting points for a bracket, however, with two hardware store U bolts and a hunk of right angle steel I was easily able to make a mount for it (only because of my system & location did I need to do this). Note unit is not to be used outside or in direct sunlight locations. Solid brass with polycarbonate bowl, two stainless steel filters included, brass pipe fittings, and a wrench for loosing bowl included. Nicely packaged. ... show more

  • Quality item, fair price and good performance
Style: DC5P-40/200
As per the attached photos, l used two of these inline before my large Culligan filter. I have well water with high iron and l use a 100 micron filter in the first one then to a 40 micron filter, then into the Culligan filter which is 5 micron. This triple team of filters really helps my Water softener and hot water heater. The sediment filters clean out with a few quarter turn twists of the knob. They feel solid and don't leak. I really like them and l feel they are a really cost effective way to remove sediment if you have well water. ... show more

  • High maintenance
Style: DC5S
Great design on these. Given the tiny overall size of the unit, the flush feature is an absolute must! It is built completely with high-quality components, and it comes with everything needed to plumb it directly into an existing line, so I think it is a great value. However, the little tablets it has for reducing scale are wicked nasty from a down-stream water quality perspective, so I had to ditch those right off the bat. In addition, they are extremely high maintenance in terms of trying to maintain water flow through the screen when you have any degree of debris that is in the water. The small stuff actually sticks into the screen, and these particles do not flush out with the valve, so I find that I need to remove the housing every week or so to blow it out from the inside in order to maintain decent flow. Generally, I flush it daily and blow it out every 7-10 days. Having well water that consistently supplies some fine silt into the water, I may be further down the particulate spectrum than those whose particulates originate from the piping itself (as is the case with, say, city water supplies), but I find this frequency annoying. It's way better than replacing a disposable filter every 2-3 weeks, though! I installed mine just upstream of my disposable filter, and I only need to replace it every three months now (strictly based on volume of water filtered versus a lack of flow through it). In that sense, I'm pretty sure it has already paid for itself after only three or four months of use. If the manufacturer provided a backflow loop with it (or recommended installing one), I think that would go a long way to alleviating the pitfalls of the tiny size of the unit. Doing so would allow the flush process to blow the water out from the *inside* of the filter screen instead of the outside the screen. In this way, it is likely one could go years without ever having to pull the housing off for cleaning or replacing filtration components. ... show more

  • Works well
Style: DC5P-40/200
My home has a well and periodically (like after heavy rains) sediment is pulled into the house's plumbing system so that faucets and appliances need to have their sediment screens cleaned often. While having other work done, I had my plumber install this whole-house sediment filter. Works great! It's been installed for a month or so and I haven't had to clean out any of my faucet or appliance filter screens. I've also gone through the recommended monthly flush, which was really easy to do and was very effective in flushing trapped particles out of the filter. This product is small and compact, as you can see from the photo. It comes with metal filters in two different sizes: 40um (for city water) and 200um (for well water). The filter was easy to install in the housing - it only took 2 or 3 minutes and then I was up and running. UPDATE: I have now had this filter installed long enough to go through the filter cleaning process. Last month, I pulled the filter, performed the recommended vinegar soak and clean and reinstalled the filter. No problems at all and the removal and reinstall of the filter in the housing was quite easy to do. Afterward, no leaks. This filter is definitely performing as expected. ... show more

  • Easy install filter
Style: DC5P-40/200
This filter is small and easy to install in my system. Everything I needed came in the box. I put a valve on either side so that when I want to disassemble it, I can isolate the filter and drain it first. Quality construction gives me confidence that this product will last.

  • Just What I Needed…
Style: DC5P-40/200
The media could not be loaded. Well this was exactly what I needed for my outdoor wood boiler. Although I had to replace the fittings to match my 1-inch PEX pipe, this filter works great once installed. It filters the water from my outdoor wood boiler before it goes to the heat exchanger for my water heater and furnace heat exchanger. It simply keeps particles from going to those heat exchangers and possibly clogging them up or damaging them. And these filters are a fraction of the cost of other filters made for my purposes. I rarely leave reviews but I’d definitely recommended this filter. ... show more
