We recently downsized (1/3 of the square footage we previously had) and space in the master bathroom is at a premium. I like to keep my trash cans out of sight for a cleaner look and used to keep my bathroom bin in the cabinet under the sink. With the smaller space, I needed to do something to adapt so tried keeping the trash can on the floor but that really bothered me so I started looking for something I could put in the cabinet without taking up much room. This seemed to be the perfect solution - and it is! This is very small, but we usually only deposit kleenex, q-tips, cotton balls in it so it is working great for us. I need to empty it about every three days, but I like doing that anyway. I particularly like having the lid since it shares space with other bathroom items and keeping the trash out of sight and separate makes for a more pleasant morning and evening routine. The lid is perfectly balanced so once an item is deposited, it swings closed quickly and easily (and is level). The brushed stainless steel is very resistant to finger prints and if there are any, they disappear easily with a quick wipe. The top fits snuggly on the can so odors don't escape and the entire thing is very high quality. While this is labelled as a countertop trash can, it works well for me in the bathroom. Make sure you look at the dimensions so you aren't surprised by the size, but if it meets your requirements, it's a great purchase.

I am a 75 yr old widower and, my kitchen counter was always covered with the little Splenda pink packets, rip cords on milk cartons, other items to small to make the 5 - 6 foot trip to the trash can so, thought I'd give this product a try. YES, it's great, I now throw stuff into it every time and, will actually make the long ~(;>) trip 6 Ft for the big stuff Just an attractive small container that helps me keep my counter cleaner. The only drawback I found was, I didn't want to have to wash it all the time so, I remembered my wife had a box of cheap disposable shower caps in her bathroom, Since she doesn't need them in heaven, I thought I'd give it a try. So far, it has been about 8 days and, the "swing top" still swings and, the shower cap fits it great. I do not suggest this item for peelings, paper towels or, anything that is large. It is designed and, sized for the small stuff and if you aren't sure how much you collect in a day, just leave your small stuff on the counter for a couple of days. If it isn't a problem, don't buy it but as an example: 3 cups of coffee with three Splenda packets, a bowl of cereal with another splenda packet and, you already have a "PINK" covered counter. Oh, also, I take two pills a day that are foil and plastic wrapped. Yes, I AM TO LAZY to walk the six feet, and open the trash can. Or, at 75, smart enough to make life easy. Go ahead and treat yourself unless, your not worthy of time/energy saving stuff. ADDED INFO 3/13/2015: Forget the shower caps mentioned above! Since, I only put dry "stuff" into it, there is no need to use shower caps P.S. I'm still saving 4 to 5 steps a day by not walking to the BIG trash can. Every little bit helps. ~(;>})

I'm a minimalist and did not want a trash can on our bathroom counter. The dilemma I faced was that our new house has a separate room for the toilet and the only floor space that fits our regular sized bathroom trash. Having tidied up my partner's floss, Qtips and a myriad of other crap left on our bathroom vanity, I finally caved to his request and researched a mini trash can for the counter top. I have to say that this little guy has grown on me and we fill it up way more frequently than the one in the WC. It's sleek, the lid swings open and closed smoothly, it's easy to pop off the lid to empty it and the stainless steel look is minimal enough for it to almost disappear in the room. I don't bother lining it for sustainability reasons -- it doesn't get dirty enough to warrant it but could easily be wiped out with a Clorox wipe if it got gross. One note on their claim to be "smudge proof" -- I do occasionally see finger prints on it but they're easy to wipe away. The same happens with all of our stainless steel appliances, can't avoid it. I debated buying one for our laundry room to collect lint and used dryer sheets but realized that was a *want, not a need* -- we have so many Amazon boxes around the house that I've repurposed an old little one for the laundry room receptacle.

I ordered the rose gold simplehuman mini trash can because it was on sale. They sent the stainless steel. I’m keeping it because it actually goes better with my kitchen. It came in a box with a picture of the stainless steel trash can on it, and a small round sticker with the words “rose gold” and a picture of the rose gold trash can on the sticker. So the box was correct, but someone had put the wrong trash can inside it. The product packaging box was not sealed. (The package that was delivered was sealed.) I love the trash can so far. It has a weighted lid, which makes it flip easily. The lid has a sticker on it that indicates it is resistant to fingerprints. It has a plastic lining inside, which looks easy to clean. I will probably not immerse it in water because it looks like a tiny bit of water could seep in between the metal and plastic. It’s a really nice little trash can, and so convenient to have on the kitchen counter for small pieces of kitchen trash. I bought it so that I would not have to touch the big trash can or its cabinet while preparing a meal. I always feel like I have to wash my hands after throwing away trash in the big trash can. This way, I can start with a cleaned trash can while preparing food. The flip top lid keeps the trash covered until I’m ready to clean up. I’m not sure I would pay full price for it though. You could put a bag liner in it, but the liner would show outside the trash can.
