Love how the lid stays open to pull the bag out. Love the sleek look. Easy to tuck the bag under. It keeps the Trash is no fun, so a good trash can that we use every day many times is worth the extra few bucks. Just wish you could reach over and open by hand at the top too. You can only open with the foot pedal. But that would make the appearance less sleek. If you appreciate good design and are in the unfortunate position of having to have a garbage can that's not sleekly tucked away in a cabinet, this is a great option! I'm glad I bit the bullet and spent extra to get this. Oh, and I use regular Glad garbage bags in it just fine.

The media could not be loaded. We bought a simply human trash can in 1990. We loved it. The last few years the lid kept popping off when stepping on the foot pedal. We replaced it with this one. Beautiful! The mechanism has been improved. It’s a soft close lid and the way you put the bag on is also improved. They sent us 10 simply human bags to try. I am still able to use my Costco garbage bags easily in this one. They fit better then they did in the old can. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase. 💕

A little pricey, but so far I do really like it. I like that it’s a slow closing lid so you can let go of the step and it slowly closes without slamming. The size is great - not too big, not too small. The sample custom liners were nice, but regular tall kitchen bags fit perfectly fine and are a lot cheaper. Pretty easy to wipe clean with any cleaning spray or clorox wipes. ETA: Reduced my rating since after having this for less than 6 months, it started making a VERY loud squeaking noise as the lid closes. I assume something has gone wrong with the contraption that stops the lid from slamming after removing your foot from the step. It still works, thankfully, but the noise is highly irritating and I just don't think this type of issue should have happened after having the trash can for less than 6 months, especially considering the price point. Update: It no longer makes noise when the lid closes. I have no idea why it stopped, but I changed my rating again since that was the only gripe I really had with the product.

Simple human trash cans are pricey, but very nice quality. Their “no finger print” coating they use on their stainless steel is very nice…and it does keep finger prints off the can. We have two cats and they like to jump on the can to get onto the countertops…and we never see cat paw prints on the lid. My only complaint is that the stainless steel is very thin and dents easily. We had purchased another Simplehuman trash can a year or two ago (different model) and it ended up getting a lot of “out dents” all over the sidewalls from pressing down the garbage with my hand to make room for more trash. Anything hard…bottles, cans, hard edged trash, etc.) will push outwards when you press down the trash and will dent the can from the inside. For the amount of money these cans cost, they need to add a padded layer to the inside to prevent denting. I learned from the last one…so I had a old yoga mat that I cut down to line the interior walls of the can. The mat is a 1/4” thick, so it doesn’t take up any space. I used gorilla glue brand duct tape to secure it in place. We’ve had the can for 3 weeks and so far, so good. I should point out the “out-dent” issue can happen with ALL stainless steel/metal trash cans…it’s not just an isolated problem for Simplehuman trash cans. I only bring it up because of the cost for these cans. They should be better in that aspect. Despite this, I highly recommend this can. Also…if you’ve got a family of 4+, I’d highly recommend getting the larger version of this can. We only have 2 people using this particular can and it fills up pretty quickly.
