I love Simplehuman products.I dislike the fact that I cannot get ahold of customer support, which is why I gave them 4 stars. This is my second damaged garbage can delivered to me. I’ve called the phone # listed on their page and it doesn’t work. I text them and am they tell me to go through Amazon. I’m giving Amazon’s delivery people one more go at hopefully receiving a non-damaged garbage can. By ordering through Simplehuman, it appears you need to become a member. Maybe I’m missing something. I know it’s not Simplehuman’s fault that their product arrives damaged. But, it’s frustrating that their product is being sold here and when one of their customers is having an issue, we can’t even contact them, because the phone # they provide doesn’t work.

My dog cannot get into this trash can, which was the main goal. It's sturdy and easy-to-clean and fits nicely between the toilet and vanity. I just use regular small flap tie bags as replacement bags now and they work fine (although the recommended bags are *very* nice). I ordered two and both came without any damage.

They are a great size for bathroom as they are not too small that you have to change all the time and not too big to be a conspicuous or obtrusive part of the decor. But they are nice looking. Just ordered this white one for my office. Opening is soft and easy!

We use it in the bathroom and it does a good job at containing the trash smell. Sturdy step and doors open reliably every time. Rarely glitches or gets stuck. We have this size and the big one of the same butterfly doors. We like them both very much.

To be frank, my dog ate a feminine pad out of the bathroom garbage can. The emergency vet bill to induce vomiting and avoid a potential bowel obstruction was $$$$!!! This can however, is a bargain in comparison! It is pretty stylish for a garbage receptacle and my pup cannot figure out how to get it open (lidded cans he has learned to nudge open). I like that it opens and closes quietly. It fits a decent amount of bathroom trash, even during allergy season! Simple Human really likes to push their specialized bags for their cans, but I have found that you can use others... or just clean out the removable inner can. In conclusion, get this can if you have a "dumpster diving" dog!

I’ll start by saying I don’t make expensive trashcan money. This can was outrageously expensive for my budget. My dog is a notorious garbage can burglar. I’ve tried multiple types of small garbage cans. I even put a child lock on a can out of desperation . Didn’t matter, she’d get in there every dang time. Pure exhaustion of picking up shredding garbage plus the worry that’s she would eat something that would make her sick lead me to this SimpleHuman can. I paid $70 for it. I figured that since it was available via Amazon Prime I could return it the moment my dog got into it. It has been a month. My dog has tried to get in the can multiple times. I even put a food wrapper in there to see if that would lead her to figuring it out or breaking it to find her treasure. One month and my dog hasn’t gotten into this $70 can. She doesn’t even care about the garbage in my office anymore. $70 is expensive BUT the fact that I’m no longer picking up trash thrown around and that I no longer have to be scared that’ll she will end up at the vet after eating something/ choking/ whatever, is worth it. If you have a determined, trash loving pet, save up and buy this thing. It’s absolutely worth it and it’ll save you money, annoyance and vet bill money down the road.

I recently moved and have begun either replacing or finally getting the things I want for my forever home. I had an older steel step can for the bathroom. I owned it and its older brother for the kitchen. Things are built like tanks and still work great. I am keeping them and moving them to the downstairs laundry and bath. These beautiful new ones are going in my two upstairs baths. I got one in white, and I liked it so much that I turned around and got another in bronze. Fits very nicely next to the toilet and vanity, with a plunger and a brush cleaner on the other side, and I do not have extravagantly sized bathrooms. I *love* the butterfly opening!! You do not have to allow for lid clearance anywhere except the top, and even that is half of what is normally needed due to the butterfly lid being in two pieces. This means you can fit it in tighter spaces more easily. The bag being completely hidden when closed, and the soft close feature, are both a welcome relief from the step can. The bag samples fit perfect, you get 10 of them, and I will buy the bags when I run out. I will miss the scented bags, but the solution I have for that is to toss in a few of those scent booster beads they make now for the wash. Just a few, like 10, is enough to keep the insides of a trash bag fresh while in use. Oddly enough, I don't use them for the wash because they are too strong, but for this use, they are perfect. Great little trash cans! Measure your area carefully before buying, and if it fits, I do not hesitate to recommend getting one!
