  • Having difficulty getting customer service response/Update,Excellent response!
Size: 400 GPH
In spite of only a 4star rating....Let me begin by saying I think this is a great pump at this price point. I have purchased 7 of them for my fish tanks in the past year and they are excellent, easy to clean and maintain, and my fish love swimming right in the currant of the inflows. Regular maintenance cleaning is the key to these pumps longevity and I have found that by placing the entire pump in a filter basket this greatly simplifies this task. No debris or fish waste ever reach the pumps actual pre filter this way. Now for the reason I did not rate 5 stars......unfortunately one of the more recently purchased pumps after only approx. 30 days of use quit working. I am familiar with the design and function of these pumps so trouble shooting is pretty simple. The pump will only self prime when lifted briefly out of the water/re-submerged and then flow as it should until it shuts off again. When it tries to cycle back on submerged it can not get the impeller up to enough rpm's to prime and flow properly. It appears that the impeller assembly has partially detached from the barrel, causing it to run imbalanced, which in turn has worn the bushing in the impeller unevenly.. I realize that with anything manufactured there is going to be some issues with quality control or just simply parts malfunctioning, and after all this is only 1 of 7 pumps that has had any issue whatsoever. I firmly believe that it is how a company addresses these issues, that separates them from the competition, which brings me to why I only rated this product with 4 stars. I have contacted/e mailed cs@simpledeluxe.com directly twice since 1/23 and have yet to hear any response as of 1/28. I would have preferred to have simply resolved my problem that way and then written a 5 star review. I will update if anything changes. Update 1/30/20 After still not receiving response from earlier e-mails, tried calling the Customer Service phone number for Simple Deluxe that is provided on Thank You card in pump packaging which is(866)558-2976. After multiple calls that were dropped by their automated system finally got ahold of them and indeed they were very pleasant&helpful and said they would send out replacement pump by 4pm that evening, to arrive in approx.4days. I will further update when pump arrives and then change to 5 star rating. 2/4Update,Rcvd replacement as promised and let me say these folks went above and beyond to remedy my problem, so if I could, I would give them10 stars! As I previously had stated, I believe its how a company stands behind their products when there is a problem that separates them from the competition and these folks really stepped up to make things right!! I will purchase from them again and highly recommend them and these pumps! Thanks to everyone involved! ... show more

  • Works great
Size: 1056 GPH-Bottom
The power and flow was perfect for the pond and water feature I have. Hardly any noise at all and didn't over heat. It was such a great price for such a powerful little pump.

  • hello, is this thing on?
Size: 400 GPH
its quiet. it moves a lot of water. and its really inexpensive. the Air pump on my 55Gal is louder then it. I use this pump it as an external pump WORD OF CAUTION. IT WILL NOT work in that mode without sealing off the inlet Cap it will leak Like no other UNLESS you seal that O-ring around the Inlet. PERIOD. the Feet suck and wont stay attached if you wanted to mount this facing down. the Covers come off constantly and the fittings they give you flat out Stink and are not set up to withstand any movement.and will snap. as a In-tank Power head. this thing is amazing. as a External sealed Pump, or used in a Sump. this thing rocks. as a non Modded External pump.. stay the Heck away! this Pump is tougher then others. it runs off 110 volts. it can then be turned down with a Simple dimmer. its INSANELY QUIET with nothing more then a foam pad sitting under it on the ground. its Modular. and its pressure capabilities are pretty darn good. for $20 can it do better then other power heads? YES. its run my tank 24/7 for the last 5 Months. it looses the star for the leaks. as an external pump. the Manufacturer should look at changing the inlet design to something more solid then they have a Jack of all trades pump on their hands that works from 10-60 gallon tanks easiy ... show more

  • Adjustable Flow Rate is Great. Sponge Pre-Filters Everything
Size: 400 GPH
If you are using this to pump water into a canister filter, consider these two points. On the plus side, you can reduce the flow rate with the valve. This can reduce any leaking that people experience with external canister filters (too much pressure forces water out). On the negative side, the filter sponge that "protects" the motor from debris actually will filter out so much dead plant material and other organic material from my 50-gallon pond that there is not much filtering for my $100 canister filter to do! I opened the lid and there was not much to clean. On the pump however, once I was able to get the cover off (can be a bit hard to do), that filter inside of it was LOADED with crap, dead algae, dead plant matter, etc. I noticed that the water flow rate returning into my pond from the filter was reduced, and this was the reason. If you want your external pump to hold the debris, consider removing the filter sponge in this pump. Oh, when I did get the cover off, a lot of the muck trapped in the filter went back into the pond. Hence why I like external filters. But, the thing works great, and you can adjust the flow rate, which is important. ... show more

  • This works great in my outdoor fountain.
Size: 400 GPH
This pump is just what I needed for my back yard fountain. I hate to get down and clean the pump out when it gets clogged. I have to do that about once a year with this pump. It will quit working and I will take it apart and clean the debris out of it. I found, as others did, that taking out the filter lengthened the amount of time between cleanings.
