Great Countertop Ice Maker!

We absolutely love this Silonn ice maker. It made the first batch of ice within 6 minutes and hasn’t stopped. We bought this one because it makes the bullet ice (the kind with the hole in the middle) and it doesn’t melt as fast as the nugget ice, that our daughters have, but if your an ice cruncher like me it’s still very easy to crunch. We also like the front handle on the ice basket which makes it so handy when you have to fill the water, you can hold the basket in one hand keeping it over the bucket, so you don’t get water everywhere, and fill it up. It’s not large so it fits nicely on the counter, it’s approximately 9”wide, 11”deep, 11”high, and holds 40oz. of water. It also comes with an ice scooper which fits in the basket handle or you can hang the scoop on the hook that is provided to hang on the side of the machine and it has a water plug on the bottom so it can be emptied after the self clean mode is run. It has a handle that you attach so you can lift the ice maker to where you want it, which is very convenient. ***UPDATE #2***Customer Service is EXCELLENT! I sent the information they needed and they are replacing the unit with the upgraded version. I don't have to send this one back, which is a major plus. Maybe I did get a lemon, but they're making lemonade for me and I could not be more pleased! ***UPDATE #1*** Unfortunately, after three months, the machine did what all the others have done - LOUD screeching and stopped making ice. It was cleaned weekly and only distilled water was used to make ice. I'm trying to get the company to back this product and we will see what happens. - - - - - - - - - This is my FOURTH ice machine! I've had the super expensive ones (twice) and this one is by far my favorite! It's a little loud but a small price to pay for ice that's as close to Sonic ice that you can get! Love it! ... show more

I’ve had this nugget ice maker for a few months now and wanted to use it for a while before reviewing it. Overall, I really love having it! The nugget ice is crunchy, soft enough to chew, and it makes ice surprisingly quickly. For our family, it produces enough ice throughout the day for me and the kids. I can fill two 32-ounce bottles and one 20-ounce bottle each morning before school, so it has been a great addition to our kitchen. There are a couple of things I don’t love. The machine is noticeably louder when the water level gets low, which can be annoying. I also wish it had a way to keep the ice cold and maintain the ice level instead of allowing it to melt and then automatically making more ice. That would make it even more convenient. Overall, though, we use it every day and really enjoy having fresh nugget ice whenever we want it. Definitely a great addition for our family. ... show more

We bought this because we needed a bigger ice maker. The ones we had prior worked fine just did not make enough for our household needs. Set up was quite easy. It takes 1 gallon of water to fill. That last quite awhile in our house. It makes alot of ice. It is pretty big but we made it work for us. It isnt to loud. All in all it looks good and works great! ... show more

good ice, but...

This machine does make good ice and it is pretty quick. The ice bin is very small and gets clogged easily which prevents it from filling up with the ice. If the machine had a larger ice bin or a better design, I would give it 4 stars. I bought this because our 2 larger refrigerators have ice makers that are horrible and I wanted something better. I wanted to make a bin of ice and put it into gallon freezer bags, lay it in our freezer. When fully frozen I then drop the bags on the tile, breaking them back into pellets and pouring them in the ice holding bin in one of the fridges. I do this now but can't get a full gallon bag of ice. I had a GE Profile ice maker which was great for 2 years before it died. It's very pricey so I decided to go with the more economical one. Great little ice maker

So I bought this on a whim when it wasn't hot out yet. I thought summer is coming and this might be quite handy. It works fine but I don't see it keeping up with a party. Well at least with as much ice cold water I drink. It did finally catch up to me and I was able to start putting some in the freezer. The down side is you will need an ice pick to separate them in the freezer because they are somewhat melty when you do freeze them. I am torn on whether it is worth the effort or not of filling the ice maker with water, babysitting it once in a while by clearing the ice from the eye when it gets blocked, and transferring the ice to the freezer. If you are in party mode, you would be taking care of things like this...maybe? Just food for thought. Other than that it does what it is supposed to do. Make ice. ... show more
