I own the GE Profile Opal 2.0 w/ side tank. It makes fabulous ice. However, it is a pain to operate (whomever designed the controls needs to go back to school), clean, and every odd cycle, the motor will seize and make a horrible screeching noise. In short, the quality of the Opal 2.0 is poor. When it works just right, the ice it produces is amazing. But, I'm positive it will fail long before it should and at ~$600, that's a lot to pay for poor quality. I purchased the Frigidaire EFIC237 Countertop Crunchy Chewable Nugget Ice Maker as a gift for a vacation home where I frequently stay. Right out of the box, it was pure simplicity. Intuitive controls, pretty quiet (it is an ice maker, so it will make noise), and quickly (faster than Opal 2.0) makes a lot of good ice. The ice is not quite as soft as the Opal 2.0. However, for $329, it's a quality machine that makes good crunchy ice. I'd recommend this machine. Wish the GE Opal 2.0 would redesign their machine to operate like the Frigidaire.

I bought this with high expectations. Boy was I ever disappointed, both in the product and the customer service. The machine worked beautifully at first but then one day I heard this terrible noise. It sound like the machine was demon-possessed. It would not stop. I unplugged it, waited a few minutes, and powered it up. It seemed to work fine...for a week. Then it started regularly making the grinding noise that could be heard all over our house. By this time it was too late to send back to Amazon so I called customer service. When someone finally got on the phone, they acted as if they didn't believe me. I sent them videos of the machine in action. Finally, a few days, phone calls, and emails later, they told me they would give me a refund but first...they said I must ship the machine, at my cost, back to them! I absolutely refused to do that. I asked to speak with someone with more authority. After several days they finally told me a refund was forthcoming but that I needed to cut the power cord off at the machine, scratch the serial number and another number off with a blade and send pictures of having done so. That frustrated me too, but I did that. I got a check but I assure you, I will NEVER buy this brand again. I success no one does. After researching online, I found that this is a common problem for other buyers. One lady even posted a video of her "possessed" machine to Instagram.

Not understanding, bad reviews this icemaker is a little gem. There are times when it gets very loud. I just open the drawer and give it a little shake. It takes a second and it’s fine so those who complain it’s loud and noisy. It is not. It certainly throws out ice quickly though! This machine may cost more than the hollow cubes worth it 100%

This item worked great for 4 1/2 months then totally quit working. Customer service was terrible. Claims had to be resolved in one week or you had to start all over and begin the process all over again. I provided exactly the information required and customer service kept asking for more and more information and photos and even a video of a broken ice maker. A video, really, what purpose could that possibly serve? It looks obvious to me that customers are setup to fail. I finally jumped through all of their hoops and packaged the thing up to send back at MY COST, not theirs. They wouldn't even provide a label that I could print with the proper information. I fount out shipping costs were going to be anywhere from $150 - $600. It's a big and heavy item to ship. No Thank You. I'll make my own ice. I'm not going to spend $150+ to ship this back and get a most likely refurbished one that probably would not last longer. I also found out that three other people that I know personally bought the same thing and those have all went bad as well. Do not buy this product unless you enjoy throwing away money. Shame on Frigidaire for being so terrible. I will certainly never buy any Frigidaire product again and will advise everyone I know to do the same. Update: After refusing to send the unit back due to high shipping costs, they had me render it unusable and take photos. (This option was not offered until after I refused to send it back) They told me they would either send a replacement or issue a refund. I wanted a refund but they sent a replacement instead. The replacement only lasted six weeks. I have a folder with near 60 emails to their customer "service" department. After jumping through all of the hoops I met their requirements. I insisted on a refund and told them I absolutely did not want another one. I will update again when I see how they respond.

What a gem I didn’t know these existed till YouTube I saw it had to get this machines my kids lovveee it so do I I know summer it will be lit lol right now we use 1 refill every other day and it fills within 7to nine minutes super fast ice is great just like sonic etc. Love It Grateful we eat on this ice all day my daughter literally sit by the Frigidaire and eat ice she like it so much the kids fill their water bottles for school and it’s great worth every penny save me sonic stops. Luxury high quality sound is bearable light Ice drops and cuts on off when not full can stop the sound by not adding water when ice is full or turning ice off if u don’t want to hear the machine at night. I have it in my living room with my Avalon water machine 2 great additions super excited to have these 2. Yess Ice is Great Better Than Sonic I actually can chew this ice. Gem

The media could not be loaded. The ease of use and slim design plus reviews, at the time, convinced me to buy this as a gift for my wife. However, over time it was becoming clearer the internal make up of this machine was poorly engineered. It made a louder than average noise and I thought cleaning it would help. When I did that, the entire upper unit raised out of the machine without any provocation. Poor design and not meany for longevity.
