Excellent little ice-maker

Full disclosure, I didn't realize that this doesn't chill the ice it makes. So, it makes ice and dumps it into a shallow basket. When the basket is full, dump it into a container in your freezer, and then repeat until you have what you need. It's a bit tedious, so I do it while working on my computer. The sound of a full basket is a great excuse to get up. Overall, this works great and we're glad to get ice that doesn't taste "funny," which is what our fridge made until we turned off the ice-maker. The two downsides are that the ice has to be moved regularly or it will melt (as already noted) and that the ice is "wet" so it freezes together once it's in the freezer. To remedy the latter, we bought a 6 oz. all-metal scoop that we keep in the freezer. It's item: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B293QNWQ?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1. Not worth it

Do not buy this item. i purchased after much research and glowing reviews unfortunately the one i bough on July 7 of this year and on Friday August 14 it stopped working, it leaked all the water through the back of the machine all over the place. at first i wasnt sure where the water was leaking from so i picked up the ice maker with one hand as my left is broken and sat it on the sink counter cleaned it again put water in it and tried again thats where i noticed where all the water was coming from, it came from the back of the unit. i contacted the company to see how to handle since the amazon 30 days were up and i gave them the info they asked for then they wanted me to fill up the machine again to show them where the water was leaking and i said no as that would require me lifting the machine again and then cleaning up that huge mess with a broken hand, thats crazy. they sent an email asking me to send proof of purchase which i will do and then i have to wait and see what they decide. i will just buy a new one from another brand because i cant drive to go buy ice. So beware on this brand because a month of having this and only using 3 times as i live alone is ridiculous. Update: the company will be sending out a new unit. The ice maker isn't refrigerated, so at some point the ice will start to melt unless immediately used. The ice melts fast, unlike clear ice cubes. Makes ice quickly, but didn't meet the expectations for the price.

This takes the place of a very, very large icemaker. I had before this one fits my space much easier than my prior one. It makes just enough ice for a glass or two and replenish his quick enough.
