  • No installation instructions
The product works great - keeps the toddlers/dogs out of the room with the litter box while letting the cats in. But I definitely had to go to the reviews/pictures of another similar product to figure out how to install it. It only took a few mins to figure out, but it would have been nice to not have to "figure it out." So for anyone else who looks at this and is confused for a hot minute: The product hangs in the inside of the doorknob and you bend it around the door to the latch. Then the screw and pin go into whichever hole will leave the right amount of space and the pin just hooks into the metal latch. ... show more

  • Well the first one broke easily
This broke so soon after installing. Others lasted longer. The description includes "large dogs". Without even pushing hard, our 50 pound dog broke the end off. The manufacturers need to improve these products. We need something that is safe, that won't rip arms easily, but that is stronger. I doubt that the second one will last either. ... show more

  • Works great but doesn't last long
This is the second time of buying something like this and though they look the exact same, I feel that this one is lasting longer than the previous one. Pros: *easy to use & install *easy to adjust the location of the pin & screw into place *is made with a thick plastic and holds form while still being flexible Cons: *Only comes with one pin which comes unscrewed easily and if you lose a piece of it, I have not been able to find a replacement making it unusable *the metal pieces come apart after only a couple months of use and will not go back into the slots Overall, for the price it works great and as long as we keep checking and retightening the pin, it gives us our money's worth. ... show more

  • The Idea Is Nice But...
I love the idea behind this product and for the price, if it worked easily, as intended, it would be an exceptional buy, but I'm not exactly sure it's worth it for the time it takes to get set just right. So, the pin at the end that goes into the door jam just kind of lies there. I had to WEDGE it in best I could, and then twist around the door handle piece and slip on door. It takes some serious maneuvering to get it to stay in place and not just fall out. We are using this to keep the dog from going in the basement where the cat boxes are which makes it a pain to adjust every time WE need to go in the basement. If you don't get it just right, it just falls out when the dog sticks his head through the door to try to open it himself. I better solution I believe would be to make the pin for the door jam spring like, so you squeeze it together, slip it in the door jam and have it expand to grab the latch area so it doesn't just all out if you move the door and you don't have to work so hard to WEDGE it in. Honestly, I think screwing it INTO the frame is a better idea, and then you would just slip the other end off the handle whenever you wanted to go downstairs, but I get how some people might not want the screw in the frame. Other people have seemed to have more luck with this based on other reviews I've seen, so maybe it's just our door latch area that's messed up? Regardless - just be careful purchasing and hopefully works better/easier for you then us. ... show more

  • Works as expected
This is a simple to use device to allow me to keep my closet door open enough to vent but still keep the "animals" out! In my case I wanted to keep my cats from climbing up my clothes but still allow me to vent my closet that gets musty smelling if I leave the door shut all the time. This device can be adjusted so even my cats can't get in the room but still allow my closet door to be open 2-3 inches to breathe! I do agree with another reviewer who noted that the metal pin that is positioned into the door jam does move around and must be placed into the jam, but it is easy to do and not a game stopper. ... show more

  • Good Latch
My cat started pawing at my bedroom door in the middle of the night to be let out, but I don't like to keep my door open. The bathroom nightlight shines out into the hall and into my bedroom if the door is open. I ordered this because I wanted to keep my door cracked for the cat, but still shut as much as possible. This little latch did the trick. It was easy to install and hangs securely on my door handle. ... show more

  • Works for cat base camp
We have been using these to create a space for our new kittens. This keeps the door propped open enough to keep the dog out of the litter box and give the cats a place to retreat to in case they feel the need. It's easy to set up and holds well enough to keep a mildly curious pooch out. If the dog were excited or determined it could easily push through. It's a very simple and effective tool and great for supervised environments. ... show more
