I purchased 3 of these counter stools, 2 work fine and the third failed after about a month of use. The chair seat came loss from the swivel. I contacted Ashley's customer service to get repair/replacement of the stool. They directed me to the customer support representative handling the Amazon account. During the 2 or so months it took to get the corret part I must of called the rep at least 20 times for help. Of the 20 times I called she only returned 3 or 4 of my calls. I was so frustrated that the Ashley customer support rep forwarded me to her supervisor. I left 2 messages with the supervisor to call me back, but again, I never received a callback. Finally nearly 3 months pasted and I received the correct part. The chair now works fine. My biggest complaint was the lack of communications and feedback from both the Ashley/Amazon rep. and her supervisor.

These counter stools are beautiful! I have been looking at stools for our new kitchen for months and finally decided on to purchase these. Because they were not Amazon Prime eligible, shipping was supposed to take 8-10 days but it was still free. Instead, the stools arrived in just three days! They were well packaged and arrived in excellent condition. After lots of research on these stools, I never found any documentation that stated that these were in fact 24" tall counter stools but based on the model number of the stools that I purchased (D542-124) and the others that are offered, I decided to make an educated guess and go for it and got it right. So, for others who are wondering, the last 2 digits "24" is the seat height. These stools look fantastic at my counter height island. They are heavy, very sturdy and comfortable! I was worried about how comfortable they would be since there weren't any other reviews online and our local Ashley store didn't have these in stock for me to try out first. The wood is a stained brown and is slightly distressed. There are areas of the wood that are still a little rough as though it wasn't completely sanded (but nothing too major) and that's what I wanted; nothing too sleek or polished. The metal ring around the bottom and the metal on the backs are also brown in color. I have oil rubbed bronze fixtures in the kitchen and they go very well with that. The leather seats are soft to the touch and I love the nail head detail. My kitchen is a combination of blacks and browns. The island cabinets are black and the perimeter cabinets are brown. While the kitchen has somewhat of a modern feel to it with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and oil rubbed bronze fixtures, I have natural hickory hardwoods and a great farmhouse table to add some traditional style back in. These stools definitely help bring that traditional feel over to the island. Putting them together was simple. After unpacking, it only took about 20 minutes to put together each stool (and that was with the help of my 6 year old). There are 17 screws in total to build the stools. THAT'S IT!!! The eight screws to attach the legs and the four screws to attach the metal ring must be tightened with an allen wrench (provided). The remaining five screws hold the back on to the stool and can be tightened with a Phillips screwdriver. I can't speak to how well these will hold up to use since I just received them and put them together this morning. I will try to remember to come back in a few months and update on how they are doing!

Ashley is the worse company to do service with. Good luck if you need to return or get in touch with them. First, you are responsible for shipping anything back. My purchase was three stools and the return shipping was on me. Over $100 in shipping. The replacement units I ended up getting through Amazon (at least they took care of any potential return shipping.) Rings for the stools had problems and upon calling Ashley to see if I could swap the rings, again, answer was no. Worse is that not even saying I was willing to pay for them resolved the problem. If you buy the stools, which are nice, and don't have any problem, ok. If you do need to contact Ashley's support. Sorry but you are into a rabbit hole. Worse customer service I've ever experience. Shame on Ashley. Shame on Ashley. Don't do business with them. Trust me. One final comment. Instructions on how to install the rings is a nonsense. At first it looks like they are big. It took a lot of researching and returning the goods to get real/good instructions. Ashley is in the business of selling. Not in the business of taking care of their customer. Worse experience every with Ashley.

These are perfect for our small/narrow bar space. We got them because they fit our criteria: has a back, attractive, affordable. We purchased these for our grandkids to use and I am really surprised at how bottom heavy they are. Those crazy munchkins wont be knocking them over or tipping them over. I have attached photos to show how the color of the stools change depending on light. We are in the middle of a remodel and these match our new furniture beautifully.

I was quite pleased after a experiencing a short string of cheap bar stools. In the past week or so, this chair has been solid. I'll tell you again in a year... However, I was impressed with the packaging and the ease of construction. Everything was precisely placed in the box, positively padded and there was even an orange streamer with one end under a box seam's packing tape with the other end securely fastened inside the box to the bag of parts. Can't misplace that! (and don't lose the employee who came up with that idea.) All parts were machined precisely on the two chairs I received. The instruction illustrations were clear, if not just a bit TOO clear; the last step says (and shows) to turn the chair upright on its legs. Ohhh-kay. Most of the washers were on the machine bolts, and most of those in the proper order on the bolts. The included hex wrench and your own Phillips head screw driver are all you need. This wasn't the cheapest chair, but it is fairly priced and it *is* (so far) solid. Tape the hex wrench under the bottom and you can handily re-tighten the bolts when the inevitable loosening happens. I will look for Ashley furniture in the future.

I LOVED my first chair so I placed the rest of my order. The new ones (4 of them) are a different color and don't match the original..... now what.....
