  • Very good value for under $150
Color: Brown Oak
Handsome speakers - mine are brown oak, and they actually generate decent bass + treble for 5" woofers. Unit has full size remote, adjustable EQ feature for bass / treble, easy to set up ( 5 minutes ). Came very well packaged in styrofoam inside double box, remote included batteries. Also includes separate AM and FM antennas. Only one frustration: can't figure out how to completely shut off via remote. It can be put into "idle" but never completely off. I will keep playing with remote to try to figure this out but now it is a challenge, small issue at best. Good sound for bedroom @ decent price - would recommend it. ... show more

  • Sharp XL-B530
Color: Brown Oak
Just got it today. Got it hooked up and I put a CD in. I am amazed how great the speakers are. I can play it loud and there is no static. When a piano is playing you can here it crystal clear. The listing said 100 watts per speaker, on the back of speakers it says 60 watts & 90 watts maximum. Remote works and the buttons work on the system. Very Pleased so far. ... show more

  • Decent sound, good price.
Color: Brown Oak
Many features, worth the price. I use this unit in the garage mostly to listen to the radio. It’s perfect for that purpose.

  • Good Sound Quality
Color: Black Oak
Ok, I'm an audiophile but I enjoy a variety of music and this unit makes me happy. Bought this to replace an Onkyo shelf unit. It never worked right and sound quality was marginal. The Sharp has an adjustable display. Good power output and the speakers are able to handle the higher volume. Oh the unit has a CD player which is one of the main reasons I chose it. I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Glorified portable stereo (like you would use at a lake or in a kid's room)
Color: Brown Oak
Bought this " micro system" from Sharp so that I could conventionally use some of the 1000's of compact discs I acquired over the last 40 years. I wasn't holding my breath for this micro system to have the power or sound quality of my old "landlord whisperer" system, but man oh man, the sound output here is, well, how you say, that of a portable radio you'd use while mowing the grass or perhaps give your kids as a "first stereo", (but the latter probably doesn't apply since the youth of today are practically born with an iPhone as an appendage and little buds jammed in each ear). So, here's my experience thus far, it's actually a nice looking unit, the speaker cabinets are some kind of wood, not plastic and the head unit is sheet metal, which should be a good thing I suppose thinking while removing the packaging. The remote seems simple enough and the overall setup was easy enough. I will say, the FM radio antenna included does nothing to help reception, even with strong stations in the area. Looks like a alternative one would need to be purchased (if for what ever reason I decide to listen to the canned dreck they broadcast now, one can only stand just so much of the same 3 Boston, Eagles, yacht rock songs programed FM stations have latched on to). Also, seeing others are having trouble finding an antenna that has the correct connector, yeah I've never seen a connector like this one before. There's an AM antenna, I did connect it and immediately remembered why I don't listen to that radio band. Next, about the sound... yeah I know it's not going to be audiophile quality, but this is pretty low rent. I've tried the cd player (choked on bass, shrill treble, no midrange, tried several discs, same conclusion), then BT (that was even worse sound output, tried phone,PC and TV), changed the EQ settings, etc.. no bueno. Haven't connected to an AUX source (see below), tried wired and wireless over the ear headphones, wasn't good there either. Risking sounding "old and cranky", I've had audio components in the past from Sharp that were good (actually my 1st disc player was a Sharp from the mid 80's, used it in conjunction till 2000 with different systems I had set up once I upgraded my main disc player on the good ol' "neighborhood awareness of you" system). So, the overall conclusion here is; should have listened to the reviews rated below the 100's of glowing five star ones, since I agree with the lower rated reviews 100%. Was going to hook up my turntable since it does have an auxiliary input (I pulled out my pre-amp, since there is not a built in one, there's not a grounding connection), but if this system chokes this bad right out of the box, will leave it put away. Was debating on perhaps purchasing some other speakers to improve the system, I saw where someone else had reviewed the unit with aftermarket speakers and noted "that didn't help much". Well, that's good enough advice for me, think I will just look for another unit. I was only hoping to purchase something with just a fairly decent sound output (as many prior reviews stated they were pleased with the sound quality), sadly this thing was no where near decent even with lowered expectations. I guess I could gorilla glue the speaker cabinets to the head unit, slap a handle on it and haul it outside and share its low rent bass choking and shrill treble sounds with my neighbors while tuned to a static laden FM station that plays the same 3 songs all day (bet they'd love that). Nah, actually, I think l may box it back up and give it as a gift, since I've read that returning things purchased on Amazon through 3rd parties is a brutal process. Glad I saved the box and all its inside packaging. I've already got my eye on another micro system I was looking at in the background while writing this. ... show more
