  • Easy to operate and set up, small and lightweight with good sound.
This is a small, simple and lightweight stereo just for listening to CDs and the radio. The sound quality is good. Many of us still enjoy our CDs so it is good to have something that will play them. I have not tried the more advanced features such as wireless streaming.

  • Nice compact system
Bought this because the CD player on my old Magnavox unit stopped working. This is nice because it's smaller, lightweight and more compact. Everything works well. The volume on CD mode is just a lot lower so you have to boost it up, then remember to lower before switching back to radio or you'll blast your ears! ... show more

  • BT and EQ not 'up to par'
I gave this only 3 stars because the remote was not working properly and I had to return the stereo. Amazon is sending a replacement in a couple days and I'm hoping everything will work properly. As far as the quality of the sound and features... it's great! But the remote was the only issue. After I get the replacement I'll update my review. UPDATED REVIEW: I received my replacement stereo system. The FAVORABLE NEWS: the remote now works properly and responds the way it should. However, I will note that the 'command response time' of the remote on some functions is rather slow... but acceptable. The UN-FAVORABLE NEWS: A) the Blue Tooth volume mode is not calibrated correctly with the other volume modes (such as USB and CD). At first I thought it was completely defective, but then I realized I had to turn the BT volume on my cell phone up ALL THE WAY to send a signal to the stereo. Then, I had to turn the volume up ALL THE WAY on the stereo to get an acceptable volume. In essence, the BT volume mode requires 3 to 4 times the volume setting than the other volume modes on the stereo (CD, USB, Radio, Aux). B).The 'SOUND' function is basically useless. I have been a professional musician all my life (60+ years) and I can tell you that this stereo EQ is useless. The difference is 'barely' noticeable'. With that said, the quality of the sound is acceptable, so I'm not loosing any sleep over this. IN SUMMARY: I'm keeping this rating at 3 because of the BT issue and the SOUND EQ issue. However, the stereo produces satisfactory tone for my needs, and I've decided to keep it (rather than return it for a second time). If I get another bookshelf stereo from a different manufacturer, most likely there will be pros and cons with that too... so I'm not going to waste any more time on finding the 'perfect stereo for the perfect price'. Quite frankly, I don't think they exist! Anyway, I am 'Luke-warm' on recommending this stereo if you're a sound fanatic like me, but for simple applications ... it's fine. FINAL UPDATE: I have down-graded my review to one star. I am doing this because the Vendor is taking too long on my refund to my account. Now it is taking them over a month to issue the refund! VERY unprofessional. I had to call Amazon Customer Service at this point. Amazon was nice enough to refund to my account to my gift card balance. It only took them a couple hours to process this refund for me. Aside from the product issues, the customer service from this vendor is very poor and I would not recommend buying ANYTHING from this company (because if you need to return something for a refund, this vendor will only delay your refund and make up excuses as to why they are so slow). ... show more

  • Works well and easy
This compact micro stereo works is easy to use and pretty intuitive. No need for lengthy user manuals (though you can consult that, too). It has FM radio, a CD player that can also read MP3 disks, as well as Bluetooth and USB (for USB flash player) or headphone jack for audio input. However, you do need the remote control for most functions, that's a bit of a drawback, but the remote is well designed (see below). The speakers are nothing special, but pretty good for a small size system. They are 6x9x5 inch and have a max. output power of 15 Watts. They are not super loud, but provide fairly undistorted, true sound at all volumes and don't sound tinny. It is equally good for spoken word, classical music, and pop/jazz/rock. If you're used to subwoofers, you may be disappointed because they don't deliver bass on that level, but that's to be expected. I have this system in my kitchen and I can now listen to music without getting annoyed at the bad sound quality. There is also a DSC sound enhancer that allows to switch between balanced, clear, powerful, warm and bright, but the differences are so small that you might as well forget this function. The Bluetooth pairs easily. My android phone, my iPad, and my Mac laptop all connected without any problem. It is not password protected, so in principle, someone could connect from the outside, but with a range of 10 meters (30 feet), it is rather unlikely in my neighborhood. Finally, the remote control is really well designed and neatly arranged. I read a lot of reviews of systems with tiny remotes or simply hard to understand remotes. This one is easy to use. All in all, I am pretty happy with this system. It is the right size and sound quality for my kitchen (about 14 by 13 feet). And it has a pretty clean, simple design, so it doesn't sit in your house like some weird transformer toy (some compact stereo systems do look like that). Edit: Upon playing an MP3 disk with an audio book, I found out that there is no easy way to get to the desired track. Such an MP3 disk has easily 150 to 200 tracks. The system does not remember which track you were at when you turn it off and later on again. So, you have to remember the track yourself and then push the forward button 80 times if you want to get to track 80. You can't punch in numbers. That's a huge disadvantage and I took off one star because of that. ... show more
