What a great little package of lights, sounds, alarms, information, and time to have near to you when you are in your bed. To have the secure knowledge that you will be wakened on time or allowed to snooze before or after your sleep whether it is to wake you or help you fall asleep. The control over the intensity of light whether for reading or knowing the time during your bedtime activities is amazing. There are many clocks to choose from on Amazon and it took me some time to settle on this one. The Good: I ordered this alarm clock on July 31 and received it the next day. Excellent! It was packaged sufficiently to prevent damage in transit. I opened it, installed 3 AAA batteries (not included; to preserve settings or to use it without plugging it in), plugged it in and set it up. I have limited experience with alarm clocks, having used only a few over the last three decades, but compared to my old Timex that this replaced, this clock is very easy and quick to use. Using the scroll wheel/dial on top and specific function related buttons, it is much easier and faster to change the alarm time. Once the two alarms are set to the desired time, turning each of the two alarms on/off is done with one button push. This is exactly the type of interface that I was looking for. There are various other features that are useful, if you want those, such as one button push for snooze, quick brightness setting by pushing the snooze button/dial, FM radio station auto programming, scrolling through the pre-programmed FM stations with the snooze button/dial, seven different alarm tones that are independent for each alarm, battery back-up of settings, AC/DC operation, large display for easy reading (see photo), 12/24 hour clock, room temperature (probably accurate withing 1 degree F.), two USB outlets, standard 5V USB power supply (easy/inexpensive to replace), etc. Regarding the readability of the display, I typically use +2.5 reading glasses for reading, etc., and I can read all of the characters on the display without needing the reading glasses. For such a small (and inexpensive) alarm clock, this unit is loaded with features. For example, I did not purchase the clock because of its FM radio. However, it does work pretty well -- considering what it is. It does find most of the FM stations in my area. The sound quality is reasonably OK for a small mono speaker in a small plastic enclosure. Do not expect a hi-fidelity audio listening experience! This will not compete with your boom box. As is common with almost all radios this size, the frequency response is limited to the mid-range. There are no high frequencies, nor bass. The sound quality is slightly better using ear buds or head phones, but it is still not a full-frequency stereo signal. The built-in speaker gets loud enough to be annoying when sitting by it. If you are using the radio as the selected alarm sound, it should be able to awaken even a deep sleeper -- be sure to set the volume control (a separate dial on the back) to the desired volume. To deal with the FM antenna wire, I ran it along the power cord and taped it intermittently with black electrical tape. That got it out of the way and it is not that noticeable (see photo). Possible Improvements: First let me say that if I needed another alarm clock for a similar purpose, I definitely would purchase another one of these. However, there are some improvements that could be made for future revisions: 1. The silver snooze/control dial/button on the black body of the clock is kind of ugly (IMO). I thought about prying it off and spray painting it black, but I didn't want to risk breaking it. A matching black button would greatly enhance the appearance. 2. Related to the snooze dial's appearance, it would also look better if it was a little shorter (less pronounced) and if the finger indentation was a little larger. It could still function well as a scroll dial with these changes, and it would not be so bulky or overpowering looking compared to the body of the clock. 3. The Time Set, Radio, Alarm 1 & Alarm 2 buttons on the top are too small, at least compared to my fat fingers (see photo). Since my main purpose for the clock was to have two separate alarms that I can turn off quickly while groggily waking up, when coming out of a sleepy haze the small buttons can be difficult targets to hit (before my wife is also awakened by my alarm). To help with this, I found some extra adhesive clear rubber cupboard bumpers (the things that stop cupboard doors and drawers from hitting wood-on-wood) and trimmed them to fit on the two alarm buttons. Now I can reach over and feel those specific buttons and turn off the appropriate alarm -- you can also accomplish the same thing by placing a small dome of hot glue on each alarm button; that worked on my last clock. For future designs, it might be good to have larger buttons, perhaps arranged in 2x2, and with a raised dimple on the alarm buttons (to make them easier to find by touch). 4. Some reviewers state that the clock is too light weight, thus feeling like it is poorly made or that there isn't much to the clock. I don't have a problem with this. It seems to be built sufficiently well/strong for my purposes. One should realize that this clock is smaller than most other plug in alarm clocks that you will find (see photo for size comparison to a 1 dollar bill). This clock works great for me. This is a very versatile clock. I use it in the guest room where my son and family sleep when they visit, and the clock doubles as a night light and a "noise machine" for their baby and toddler. It plays soothing white noise sounds, and has a night light along the bottom that can be set to various colors. The numbers on the face also can change colors. And it has a FM radio. Bought this clock radio to replace one that auto-changed for Daylight Saving Time. Which would be great if I wasn't in Arizona. But I digress. This little clock does everything I need it to, and includes some features I didn't know I needed. For instance, the nightlight. Not so bright as to wake up my husband, but bright enough to see the dog laying in my path. The option to change the display color is also really nice. I’m shocked about how many features they could jump pack into an alarm clock. it’s quite impressive. I also like how I can customize my alarms from the tune that wakes me up in the morning to when during the week it wakes me up. I also like how it can play music before you go to bed.
