And the ticking or churning is annoying at night. Also, the shape of the clock makes it difficult to pick up. It's so hard to find a silent clock in the big stores. The description is not on the package if the clock ticks or not. The only noiseless clocks are expensive. Cute little clock. Keeps great time. It is not 100% silent. If you are a light sleeper like me, you can hear the mechanism running. It's not a tick tock, but definitely a continuous sound that I can hear from 10 feet away. Still, what do you want for $10?? I am still happy with it.
