I self installed this unit. It took about an hour with simple hand tools. The instructions are clear and follow an easy step by step process. My concern was the Alexa configuration. It took me about 45 minutes to install and setup 3 other users along side myself. Easy to follow instructions simple click the prompts and done. I highly recommend this product if you have a large family or even one family member for ease of use. Very good quality & looks very nice on out black doors. Good value, also bought one for my daughter’s home. Was installed by professional that installed new doors. Finger print feature is hit or miss, the app is awesome & easy to use. Battery goes fast so keep extra on hand.

I want to say that the only downfall is that the handle doesn’t lock, but truly i never locked the handle on my prior setup. It connects easily and the app is amazing, it is so easy to use. It looks very expensive and well built.

----UPDATE--- So Philips reached out to me to try to make things right. They were kind enough to send me a free unit to try out again. I must say, that is some good customer service. However, I will need to try out this unit and see if it's any better. I will post a follow if it turns out it's better and the last unit was just a faulty one. For now, I will bump up a star since the customer service was great. ---Original Review--- I really wanted to like this smart lock and I fiddled and spent time with this for over 2 hrs. In the end, I gave up, took it apart and put it all back neatly into its packaging, ready for a return. Before I get into the negatives, here's the positive marks.... - Very nice and modern looking. Clean. - Installation was a breeze! But then again, I come from experience. - Changing/adding codes were simple and quick. - Quality is top notch, no stripping screw heads, no parts barely aligning. Now, here's the issues with this... - The app SUCKS! Why do I need to create an account just to log in and pair it? This should be recognizable by Alexa (or Google), and simply pair and work. Not only that, you gotta be literally on top of the freakin' lock to pair it via bluetooth, just to set it up. - After setup, if you want to connect it to Alexa (or Google), you then have to switch it to connect to your local wifi. The problem is, it refuses to do so, at least for my network. I run a powerful router with a 1,000+ range on a dual 2.5 & 5Ghz band. It absolutely refused to connect, no matter how many tries, and this was when it barely picked up a signal. It wasn't the batteries as they were brand new. I didn't have some crazy contraption that prevented a proper signal to pass through. I know my wireless network, I know my credentials and can read it out in my sleep. But this thing treated it as if my creds were wrong. BUT, 99% of the time, it just could not pick up a signal whatsoever! I went as far as changing my router so it only broadcasted 2.5Ghz but even this failed to be picked up by this lock. Again, I wanted to like this, and I really do like Phillips but this thing, this thing is crap! Period! ... show more
