When we bought our house, the old owners left an older 1001ae model shark behind. I got it to work, but it doesn't map everything and cannot be told where NOT to go using the app - we have to leave an ugly magnetic strip on the floor, like behind my office chair because the older shark (Sharkey Gyllenhaal) likes to jail himself in between the chair legs and bounce around doing endless austin powers maneuvers until he runs out of juice. I was still impressed with that old robot enough to want more. When I decided I needed one for my first floor, I did my research based on reviews and found this newer model, and it is a huge upgrade! I also trust the Shark name, so I was not willing to try other manufacturers. This new shark is seriously upgraded! It has Lidar. It zipped through the house very quickly and formed its maps NOT based on bumbling into objects. It was so quick to map, and its maps are very accurate compared to that old model 1001AE. I made 'no go' areas in the app for the new one so it didn't suicide itself down the stairs, though I am sure it would have stopped at the edge. I loved this new one so much, I ordered another new one for the 2nd floor upstairs, and it is just as amazing. At some point, I thought I might try the old one in my bedroom, but it didn't work out, because no matter what, I could not convince it to go all the way into my strange shaped bathroom. But when I got the Matrix, its lidar capabilities saw all the nooks and crannies. Old Sharkey was back to the basement where he runs just fine so long as he stays away from the magnetic strips, which is perfectly fine for a free robot. If you have a chance to upgrade, though, I highly recommend this robot! The suction is incredible on all my shark robots: I stupidly thought we were getting everything with our regular vacuum because there was not much to empty each time you ran it. If you are a pet owner, you will be disgusted with how much dander, dust and pet hair the shark robot picks up, every time more gook! I could build a new cat weekly with what it is finding. I love coming into the room with the neat rows of carpet stripes left after it cleans, and I feel like I have a maid since they save me soooo much time every day! I will be a shark fan for life if these hold up. Add up all the time weekly that you are spending vacuuming your rugs and hard surfaces and imagine not only crossing that off the list but having a house with less dust and dander floating about. I purchased this after dealing with Roomba issues for almost 2 years, and this Shark vac has made all of the difference. It actually finds it's docking station every single time, even when I've stacked boxes around it. It follows the mapping very well, and if it happens to end up on the carpet, it still performs very well! The app is easy to navigate for last second changes. I have an Australian Shepherd that sheds like crazy, and brings grass into the house. I picks it up without issues, the 45 day capacity is an extra bonus meaning I don't have to empty it almost everyday. I will warn you though, the self cleaning is very loud for a few seconds (If you have sleeping babies in the area, I would schedule the end time outside of naptime.) ... show more

This is a low quality shark! I already have a 2-in-1 and love it. The suctioning power is fantastic and it can clean perfectly any carpet - mine is a deep pile carpet, so I needed a good vacuum cleaner. As I have two different floors, decided saving buying this version as I thought the quality would be the same…. It was only an illusion! In the first run I noticed that the attachment of the side brush was cheap and weird, making a terrible noise. After the first run the side brush was completely wasted and looked like it was used more than 100 times already. I decided to do a new test on the second day. I programmed it to run while I was at work. When I returned, the robot was without the front wheel (how in the world did it happen?) and stuck somewhere in the house. I gave up and decided to return it! Now I am buying another 2-in-1 even if I am not using the mop :) it is only $70 more - I know $70 is a lot off money, but how much your time worth as I had to wrap it back, take it to UPS and wait to get refunded…. After 3 other brand robots. I decided to go with the Shark for the easy to empty debris bucket, no vacuum bags required. The robot is easy to program, the settings for "no go zones" work well. The Shark cleans very well; I am surprised how much cat hair and dirt get picked up. The Shark is quieter than the competitor. The mapping feature in the app is user friendly, displaying a good representation of the floor space. I've had this for a month and am pleased with the vacuum performance. I really love my shark matrix! It cleans hard floor very well, also cleans my rugs. The thin rugs will get twisted or turned around but the regular rugs are fine. I love that I can schedule clean! It isn’t very loud. This saves me so much time with nearly all hard wood floors in Texas - where dust and leaves just materialize. I also like that it empties itself out each time, and I only need to empty the reservoir container once a week or every other week. It is a generous sized container. It looks nice and sleek The only issue I’ve had is that I’ve had to reset the shark matrix once and I’ve had to map the floors four times. I’m not sure why but it seems to be a common issue that many users experience- found this out while researching online. It just seems to forget the rooms that I’ve named and mapped out. Mapping is pretty easy for me you just put the lines around the “room” and then name them. That way you can have the shark matrix vacuum specific rooms. Overall a strong recommend!!! ... show more

Wow! What a powerful robot! With a German Shepherd in the house who sheds 24/7 this little robot is a life safer. Strong suction, love the grid pattern as nothing gets missed, efficient. Would highly recommend this robot vacuum.
