Wow! I read the reviews, saw the sale, and crossed my fingers for the best, but this exceeded my expectations. My dog peed on our area rug, and because we were so busy (and the hidden location of the tinkle) we didn't notice until there was an acrid, rancid smell of intense stale pee. I tried multiple pet focused products, but nothing helped to get the smell out. The Shark Stain Striker cleaner arrived today (5/12) and we put it together (so easy), followed the directions for the solutions it came with and got to work. Holy. Socks. And. Shoes. It got up the old, stale pee I had believed was already removed from the first clean AND helped completely deodorize the area rug as well. The water went down clear and came up amber yellow. After a couple of passes, the water was finally clear, the smell gone. (I 100% put my nose to the rug) TLDR? The room smells great and the carpet is actually clean. Great suction, great solutions, great price. Best part: you can actually take everything APRT to clean it completely. I cannot recommend this handy lil-giang enough!!! ... show more

I used the StainStriker along with the included Shark cleaning solutions to clean an upholstered chair and ottoman. The directions were easy to follow and the size of the machine made it easy to maneuver. I can't believe the amount of dirt I was able to remove from the chair! The extraction was strong and the upholstery was dry in a few hours. I've used full-size carpet cleaners in the past and they were hard to clean after use. The StainStriker was so easy to clean. The extractor part can be taken apart to remove any left over dirt. The design to clean the hose is brilliant. I also used it to spot clean an area rug. It did a great job. The vacuum works as it’s supposed to and in my opinion is more function than other vacuums of this type I’ve tried before. The accessories that come with the vacuum are also amazing and allow for better cleaning Although, my only real issue is the length of the hose. Yes there is a pretty long power cord but the short hose makes you have to continuously move the vacuum around. ... show more

I am so happy to have a machine to clean up little spills or upholstery on my couch or car. It is easy to use, and I can use my non fragranced cleaners since I am fragrance sensitive. I like how easy it is to clean up the reservoirs and not have little hiding spots. One of the best features though is how to snap the cover on the end and flush out the vacuum tube so that dirt does not hang around and get stinky inside of it. We already own a full-size Bissell carpet cleaner, and this little Shark outperforns the full-size Bissell in almost every way. This Shark is super easy to clean... almost all the baffles and parts come apart so you can clean out dog hair. The full-size Bissell does not come apart, especially the cleaning head, causing dog hair to jam it. This Shark has a nifty hose cleaning feature, which cycles clean water throughout the machine when you are done, removing an unbelievable amount of dirt from inside the hose and machine. The full-size Bissell does not have any way to clean the hoses or inside the machine. The Shark formula (though quite expensive) makes our carpets shine... so much so that areas previously cleaned with the Bissell look gray once you use the Shark..... and now you have to use the Shark to clean the whole carpet! The Shark is light weight and easy to manuever. Fits perfectly on a stair (sideways). It does not over-soak the carpet. The formulas are separated into two clearly-marked compartments, so you can save any leftover Oxy formula (but not the shampoo formula, which you mix with water). Each brush on both main heads has two sides, so you can use wider or thinner rubber bristles. The only disadvantages to the Shark versus the full-size Bissell are that it covers less territory per swipe, and you have to get on your hands and knees or bend over to use it, as it is a spot cleaner. ... show more

For the price, this thing is great! It cleans well, has great suction and is overall a pleasure to use. I don't have pets, so can't say how well it is with pet messes, but it does have a separate attachment for collecting pet waste. I'd say the only negative is the length of the hose could be longer, but it was manufactured to it's length for storage. It's not too big of a deal. ... show more
