This carpet cleaner was easier to use than I thought. It got the carpet really clean. CLEANING FLUID Bissell makes several types of cleaning fluid. I used “Pet Pro Oxy Urine Eliminator”. Make sure you get the kind for upright carpet cleaners. (There is a similar fluid for spot cleaners.) It was about $22 at Walmart and seems like enough for about 4 rooms. It has a pleasant smell. There was a small sample size cleaning fluid included in the package with the carpet cleaner, but it will not be enough for what you need. INSTRUCTIONS The carpet cleaner comes with a small booklet of instructions. This is good, but it’s even better to go to the website they specify in the booklet and watch the videos. The videos gave me confidence that I knew what to do. THE PROCESS 1. As they tell you, you need to vacuum the carpet before you start cleaning. 2. You fill the clean water tank with hot tap water and then put in some cleaning fluid. There are lines on the tank for the water and for the fluid. 3. The cleaning is a lot like vacuuming. You make one pass holding the spray lever so it sprays the carpet. Then you make a pass without holding the lever, so the machine just sucks up the water into the dirty water tank. In the video it shows the person doing this 2 step process with every pass of the machine. But I found it a lot easier to do a whole row of “wet” swipes with the lever pressed, and then go over the whole row again with “dry” passes. That saves a lot of switching back and forth. I did the whole wet/dry thing twice with each section of carpet. Afterwards, I took the clean water tank off and just passed over everything dry to suck up more water. But I didn’t get a lot more water sucked up, so I don’t think this step is really necessary. 4. As others mentioned, the machine does spit out some clumps of pet hair onto the carpet. But it was just a few big clumps that were easy to pick up with my hand. I didn’t really mind. It’s worth it for how easy the process was. 5. The carpet was damp when done but not sopping wet. It was drier than I thought, and it probably will dry completely in a day or two. AREA RUGS I had 2 big area rugs on top of the carpet, and I was wondering how that would work. It went fine. They were washable rugs anyway. The rugs got clean. I don’t think the carpet underneath the area rugs got cleaned. I think you would have to remove the area rugs to clean the carpet underneath. The carpet under the area rugs did get a little damp, so I am not sure how well it will dry. I may have to pick up the area rugs a little to let the carpet dry underneath. TIPS 1. If you are taking a break between rooms, put the carpet cleaner on a floor, not a rug. After taking a break, there was quite a wet spot under the cleaner. I guess I could have taken the water tanks off instead. 2. Be sure to follow the instructions for cleaning the machine when you are done. It’s not hard, but you have to rinse the tanks and stuff and wipe off the pet hair. They don’t tell you this, but be sure to turn the machine over and wipe the pet hair off the bottom. Also wipe out the pet hair from the area where the brushes are. RESULTS I got a new dog that was not house-trained, so she peed on the carpet a lot at first. I did treat the stains with Nature’s Miracle, but there were still some stains and smell. I could see the stains with my black light flashlight. After cleaning, there was no more smell, and I could see hardly any stains with the black light. I did still see a couple, but I got close and smelled them and there was no smell. I’m sure future cleanings will get rid of the rest of the residue. Or maybe I should have done more than 2 passes. But I didn’t have the patience for more, and everything seems very clean. I am very happy with the results. This is a really good cleaner. It is lightweight and easy to use. The price is very reasonable. To me, it’s a lot better to have my own cleaner than to have to rent one or to get a professional carpet cleaning. This way, I can do it as often as I want. They really do make the whole process pretty easy.

I used this on a 7.10x10.5 rug off white and blue rug. The clean water tank is a bit small. I had to fill it 5 times, although I almost made it with 4. Each time I needed to clean the dirty water tank too because it was gross. Thankfully it is super easy to do, just a pain so frequently. On the upside, the tap water was still hot each time so I didn't have to wait for that. I'm no design expert but I feel they could've made the dirty water tank a little smaller and the clean water tank a little bigger, but for this price I can't complain. I followed the instructions, wet forward and back, then dry forward and back. It cleaned really well, only 2 places did I do wet a second time, and they were bad. After I was done I did go back over with the dry vacuum setting 6 times. I wanted to see how long it would take for the dirty water to stop. 5th time dry was hardly any dirty water, by 6th not any. However, the water that did keep coming out was still dirty, just not as bad as it was at first. I assume it is due to the ground in dirt around the bottom pad of the rug. Yet, turning the rug over after that seems pretty clean too. There was minimal moisture under the rug on the floor. That could be due to the rug backing and/or taking the time to suck up the excess water. It was a concern of mine so I thought I'd share. The rug did curl a little but I think that is normal since it is wet and really thin. If it doesn't flatten back out on its own I'll update this and let you know. I think it will be fine. It picked up a bunch of dog hair from deep in the carpet that made me realize I now need a new vacuum too. Clean up was easy, and is very important to keep this little machine working. One review mentioned a groove that was hard to clean. I can see how that might be an issue for an OCD person but for me it just makes it look used if you can get that clean. I don't see how it would ever impact the ability to clean. It is more a cosmetic flaw. The machine is so light I held it up over my trash can with one hand while I wiped out the dog hair from the bottom and roller. I was surprised how easy it was to wipe it clean. It comes apart and goes back together so easily. I'm not handy and I was never scared of doing it. Instructions are great too. For the price you can't beat this. However, I wouldn't use it for a larger area. Not that it couldn't clean it but that it would take forever refilling and emptying the water tanks. From start to clean up was about 2 hours. Next time it won't be as long since I know how to do it all now. I have two little dogs and hard floor everywhere else so they run to this rug from outside with their dirty paws. I have to say after using this I feel like a gross human being. I pride myself on a clean house, this will now be a stample to ensure that. Money very well spent.

Firstly, for context I just got this carpet cleaner today and used it for ~3 hours. If I have any issues with it in the future I’ll update. Right now, I’m super happy! I was in the market for a carpet cleaner to clean our nasty rental carpets and to have on hand for pet messes. I poured over the reviews for all the sub-$130 machines on Amazon and this one seemed to have the most positive ones. The machine is very easy to put together and use. You snap the handle together, snap in the dirty water tank, fill and snap in the clean water tank, and you’re ready to start cleaning. If you’re looking for something to clean smaller areas, like rugs or pet accidents, this machine is ideal. I have a small-ish apartment and using it over my whole living room was time consuming and took a LOT of water changes (especially because the carpet was gross), but doable. If I had a large house worth of carpet I would’ve wanted a bigger machine. But for my situation I’m okay with spending more time for less money. If you’re willing to spend more to save time and/or you’re wanting to cover a large area, look elsewhere. Pros: * Very lightweight and compact. * Easy to assemble and use. * Good suction. Cleaned out old stains in my carpet with just a few passes. It pulls most of the water out so your carpets get cleaner and you’re not left with soaking wet floors. * Separate tanks for dirty and clean water. Dirty tank is much bigger so there’s room for suds. Cons: * Small tanks. You run out of clean water and/or need to empty very frequently. It took me about 30 mins to do one pass of a 10x10 foot area, for which I needed to empty the tanks probably 3-4 times. * Small width, so it doesn’t cover very much surface area with each pass of the machine. This also means you spend more time to cover the same area. * The brush is cylindrical and spins like a regular vacuum brush. I was actually surprised at how much staining it got out, but for very dirty or ground in stains you would probably need to pre treat and scrub by hand to loosen them up before using this machine. * No attachments, like you’d use to clean furniture or car seats. Tips for using: * Vacuum VERY WELL with a regular vacuum before using this machine. If you have pets and fluffier carpet, I recommend getting some type of carpet brush to pick up embedded fur. * To use this you fill the clean water tank with hot water plus whatever cleaner you want to use (there is a mark on the water tank for each), then hold down the trigger in the handle to dispense the clean water and let go to suck it back up. * The directions recommend going forward and back with the trigger held, then forward and back with it released. I recommend going forward/back with the trigger held once, then repeat without it held until the carpet feels reasonably dry. The reviews that complained of sopping wet carpets were probably either holding the trigger down for too many passes, or not going back over enough times to suck up water. * GO SLOWLY. Especially as you are pulling the machine back toward yourself. If you go too fast it won’t have enough time to suck water back up. * Use hot water. The directions say 60C/140F. I used very hot tap water. * A little soap goes a long way. IMO just a splash of soap is enough, this was enough to pull up a lot of foam (and dirt) out of my carpets. Just plain water will pull out dirt too. * Do a pass with soap over the whole room, then go back with only water in the tank to get the soap back out. Repeat till water runs clear. * Some reviews complained that the dirty tank leaked. It won’t if you pull it straight up and out of the cleaner and then hold it upright until you empty it. If you turn it upside down then flip back upright it will leak a little out the bottom. Also, make sure that it’s properly attached when you click it back in. * If your carpets are really gnarly like mine, expect to spend a lot of time on them (maybe even a multi-day project as you complete individual rooms). I did 4 passes over the room and was still getting dirty water coming up. If I used an industrial strength machine I probably could’ve done less passes, but I’m willing to spend more time since I saved some money buying this machine. Overall, I think this is a really good purchase IF you know what to expect. Is this a professional level machine with tons of power and a huge water tank? Definitely not. Can you get a professional level clean with this? Maybe, but it’s going to take quite a while. If you want to save yourself some money but have the time to spend, and not a huge amount of area to cover, this little machine is a good option. Carpet cleaner rental near me is $60 a pop, not including attachments or soap. I was willing to spend a little more to just buy this even though I knew it would probably take me longer, the convenience of being able to use it whenever I want is worth it to me.

The short story is that I am very pleased with this carpet cleaner. It is lightweight, powerful, cleans well, and is inexpensive. It has some limitations, which I will cover later. Will it hold up over time? I will update my review if it fails. new, if you like to read long, rambling reviews, strap in. Prior to this I had a Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe carpet cleaner for cleaning large areas. It worked well but the bearings that ran the cleaning brushes rusted solid after a year or two of use. That machine had a kind of turbine, mounted between two metal ball bearings, which ran the brushes by utilizing the suction of the main vacuum unit. These bearings were completely unprotected from water and failed, as anyone with a functioning brain would expect. This was either a sloppy design choice or an example of planned obsolescence. Regardless, I won’t be getting another Hoover product again. This machine uses a belt powered beater brush like a normal vacuum cleaner. I purchased it specifically because of this and hope that it will stand the test of time. We will see. Now on to carpet. Carpets in general are nasty but they are the cheapest ‘nice’ floor covering out there so many places have them. Until I have the time and energy to upgrade I am stuck with them. They WILL get disgusting if you let them, and by ‘let them’ I mean not shampoo them religiously every few months. I made do with an existing spot carpet cleaner I had, a Bissell Spot Clean Professional (which I highly recommend), after the Hoover failed me, and it did well enough until I got a new puppy. While it was great for little accidents, getting down on your hands and knees to do a large area regularly was very unpleasant. Its also great for vehicles and stairs, which this machine is not, so they pair well. The Spot Clean Pro has lasted me several years of intermittent use so here’s hoping the TurboClean will as well. I used this machine according to the instructions and I have several notes. The instructions say to make one slow pass forward and one slow pass backward while spraying solution and to repeat the process while not spraying solution. End of cleaning, let dry. For my medium pile carpet this left it very wet and with quite a lot of shampoo in it (as evidenced by little bubbles in the pile). I made one slow pass forward and one slow pass backward while spraying cleaning solution and then two to three slow forward and back passes without spraying until the unit stopped picking up much water. This dried out the carpets much better and left them cleaner. Once I had finished the area I then made another full round of passes but only filled the machine with hot water. No cleaning solution. This helped get even more dirt out and left the carpets free of shampoo. If your carpets are very nasty you will have to repeat this process several times until the water comes out clean. This level of effort is required when using any carpet cleaner though, even powerful ones like Rug Doctors. While my puppy has left the carpets quite filthy multiple times ('accidents', garbage can raids, the murder of a few house plants, etc.) the has machine cleaned them perfectly and without having to pre-treat the stains. Carpets get truly awful if you don’t religiously clean them so be prepared to work at it, but this machine will get the job done. So, how were the results? Great. After extracting several tanks of what appeared to be chocolate milk from my carpets they look fantastic and, maybe more importantly, smell clean. This was very difficult to accomplish with a new puppy using only carpet cleaning sprays or the spot cleaner. It is also easy to clean and empty. Does it have limitations? Yes. This is the largest Bissell consumer level unit you can get without a stair or spot cleaning attachment, which I didn’t need because of the Spot Clean Pro. That said, its tanks are small, and its cleaning head is not very wide. You will be filling and emptying these tanks a lot and it takes a long time to clean a large area. As expected, without the stair cleaning attachment you won't be able to use this on stairs. I also found the handle uncomfortable. The unit gets rather heavy when full of water and the hard plastic handle tends to mush your little finger after a while. None of these are deal breakers and it is a great value. Some additional tips: The small bottle of cleaning solution (8 oz) that comes with the unit is enough to fill the cleaning solution tank 4 times when following the instructions to the letter. That is enough to thoroughly clean about 50 square feet of carpet; basically, an area that is 5x10 feet. You may have similar results using less solution, depending on how nasty your carpets are. My unit came with a coupon for 50% off and free shipping on a ‘Pet Stain Removal Pack’ No. B0092 from the Bissell website. It includes a full-size bottle of cleaning solution (48 oz), a spot treating spray bottle (22 oz), and a bottle of ‘booster’ for the cleaning solution (16 oz). That kit is normally $37 dollars before taxes and shipping from their website without the coupon as of this writing. The same items separately cost $33 from Amazon, so it’s a good deal. I have no idea how long they will keep doing that though. Keep a paper towel or little baggy handy if you have someone in the house that makes a lot of hair. Pets, kids, significant other, Bigfoot, whatever. Even if you vacuum thoroughly beforehand this machine will clean deep and kick up lots of filthy wet hairballs. You’ll want to pick them up as you go or they will clog the machine. Do not let the tank get too full. Empty it every time you fill the cleaning solution tank even though it appears to be hold much more water, as the machine seems to have reduced suction the fuller the dirty water tank gets. If the machine makes a kind of popping sound and loses suction that means the dirty water tank is full. You must stop and empty it (it is a safety feature, as the dirty water tank would overflow otherwise). Rinse the machine out according to the manual after you finish cleaning, or it will begin to smell. Do NOT tilt or shake a full dirty water tank after removing it. If you do the water will puke out the suction tube and get everywhere. Learn from my mistake.

Compared to my previous name-brand heated pet-centric steam cleaner with detachable wand for spot cleaning or touching up your couch or car interior, this is mikes better. It sucks way more (yes, pun intended) and draws up much more liquid than my older but much more expensive name-brand carpet cleaner. This unit is fairly light weight, easy to assemble and comes with a very long power cord. Seriously, this thing sucks! It sucks so much that after a couple of passes you essentially have dry carpet. That depends on if you pre-treat a problem area first or if you hammer the cleaning fluid in one spot but for most of my cleaning areas, a couple of passes (back and forth) after squirting the cleaning fluid onto the carpet and it is reasonably dry even in the summer with higher humidity. It removes a LOT of dirt and grime, liquids from spills, pet accidents and more. I usually go over the carpet once with a carpet cleaning solution mixed per the directions followed by a couple of passes with clean, warm water only. That flushes out any remaining carpet cleaning solution and assists with drawing up the remaining dirt or grime. It works better than the last two big name (see expensive) carpet cleaners I have owned. This is a budget model in features but NOT performance. It lack the detachable cleaning head for furniture and car interiors and the water tank/gray water tank are smaller it eclipsed the raw performance of my previous cleaners by a noticeable margin. For $100 you could do MUCH worse and for more $$. This is the second highest marks I have given to a product I purchased and reviewed. It really is that good. I’ve used it at least a dozen times already and it’s easy to use, easy to fill and easy to empty. It’s also easy enough to clean (which you should do after every use anyway plus a more thorough cleaning after every few uses). It does a great job cleaning my carpets especially with two dogs. Will it last for more than a year? I hope so. It isn’t the heaviest or most robust in its build materials but it is very well constructed. I’ve not had any problems with the cleaner since owning it and it has seen use at least once a week for over 2-months without problems.

When my elderly incontinent dog recently passed away, we washed and packed up his pee pads and investigated a full rug shampoo service. The cost wasn't my main concern, but after reading so many poor reviews of local rug cleaners I decided I would take my chances and do it myself. I've used the big one you rent from the supermarket and recall years ago that made a mess. I used to have a small Bissell Little Green machine that got lost in one of my moves and I missed it but I needed something that would cover more area. I trust the Bissell name based on prior experience with the smaller version. The reviews for this machine were acceptable and I ordered the machine figuring I would take a chance. I recalled someone mentioned it used more solution than expected in a small area so I bought extra jugs. Buy at least one extra. The small container that comes with the machine will cover just a hallway. The instruction manual was very comprehensive. I loved the ease of assembly. The illustrations are a bonus. I recommend following the instructions. Press the trigger once moving forward and once moving backward. Don't apply too much. Then suck up all the water with multiple passes. Each section I cleaned I made a subsequent pass 5 times to get all the water and deep dirt sucked up. I think this is key for deep cleaning and fast drying. I live in the southwest so the carpet is going to dry faster here than it will in humid areas. I cleaned only small areas at a time like 2 x 2 ft. Don't try to clean long passes. You don't want to make mud. Devote yourself to a small section completely each time. My son's room was what I considered "clean". No one travels through there except him. I guess the cats do too because I was amazed by the amount of pet fur this machine picked up. Keep in mind, I had vacuumed the room in advance. I guess my dry vac isn't all that good. This machine really got into some deep cleaning, the pile of the rug is now fluffy like new. I had an option of buying a rival used machine at a pawn shop but I didn't want to bring home someone else's dirt. The machine wasn't cleaned. I am happy I bought this machine new. I don't have to worry about what dirt is in the machine and I found this machine is very easy to clean. Great instructions on how to clean and no hoses for dirt to cling to the inside. The suction of the machine is very strong, I cleaned the edge of the rug to floor and some solution splashed forward onto the floor. In the next pass the water was sucked up and the floor completely dry in one pass. My next shampoo will be the area rugs. I'm very excited to have this carpet cleaner. Strongly recommend.

I bought this Bissell on April 21, 2021. At the time I had a twenty year old Dalmatian and pointer hound mix(RIP my baby) , three cats that were in and out. I used this thing almost daily. It's gotten extremely heavy use. As long as you clean the machine, the scrubbing head, make sure to spray the sprayers with hot water as well, as to dislodge any solids that may form from the cleaning solutions, it'll last forever. I transitioned away from the store bought solution and started making my own, from a DIY site and it worked wonders. But it also killed my Bissell just now, because the oxiclean solidified in the sprayer lines. Don't use cheap oxiclean. But this thing scrubbed pet mistakes, messes, my son getting multiple stomach viruses at school, split wine, fruit juices, milk, you name it, it cleaned it. It does have some very stupid design flaws however. The tank doesn't last but a few minutes, so it's really more of a spot cleaner than designed to truly clean entire carpets. The tank that sucks up the dirty water, cuts the suction off when it's 1/4 of the way full. That's so aggravating. It cuts off before the cleaner tank is empty. So you're making stops and trips back and forth, to clean an area rug. There's a way to stop this by rigging it to not allow the float to rise in the tank, but it's still such a stupid design. Other than that, it's a great machine for the price. I don't know what I would've done without it. Seriously though, after EVERY SINGLE USE, clean it thoroughly. Throw it in your kitchen sink, pop off the "sucker" cover, and spray the crap out of everything. If you don't, then the hair that accumulates, gets substantial enough to make your next clean a waste of time. It's not actually scrubbing because the heads are clogged with hair. I regularly popped the head covers and belt cover off, cleaned inside there(don't get water into the motor!), because it would accumulate gunk and filth as well, because pets are messy and humans shed just as much hair. Seriously, I can't stress enough how important cleaning the machine thoroughly it's to it's function and longevity. After every single use it needs through cleaning or it'll be useless. I got to the point of using half water, half hydrogen peroxide for severe pet and bodily fluids, but only with my own solution, so there wasn't a chemical reaction, but that boils out urine, fecal, blood, and anything biological, as well as cleans the tank and moving parts sucking up the water.

After reading a fair number of both positive and negative reviews, I ordered this carpet cleaner. I'm very happy with this purchase. I'm thrilled that cleaning my own carpets turned out to be so easy, fast, effective, and resulted in huge cost and time savings compared with having to pay and coordinate appointment times with a cleaning company. After two uses, it's more than paid for itself. My pros and cons perspective... Pros: Simple and quick set up out of the box, Straightforward and user-friendly preparations for filling the tank with water and cleaning solution (a sample bottle of cleaning solution is included), Quieter than my vacuum cleaner, Lightweight for easy operation (didn't aggravate my upper extremity tendonitis or nerve impingement any more than any of my other chores), Compact for convenient storage, Good suction (the instructions suggest one forward and one backward pass for suction, but I didn't see a reason not to do a few more suction passes to try to assist the drying process), Carpet felt fully dried with normal carpet traffic resuming in 3-4 hours and was only slightly damp immediately after being cleaned, The clean tank size holds the perfect amount for my main carpeted area (a full tank was enough to clean approximately a 12' x 12' area; a few spots needed multiple passes for older, more set in stains), Dumping and rinsing dirty tank is easy, Very easy to remove and reattach both tanks, Easy to keep the machine looking clean and easy to wipe around the brush area after operation to remove accumulated clumps of carpet fibers/hair (it's impressive how much my vacuum misses or can't suck up that this machine is able to gather even if I have to pick up the wet clumps), Peace of mind knowing this simple to use and effective cleaning tool is convenient and immediately accessible for when human error or pet accidents happen Cons: Wish the machine was capable of holding and utilizing hotter water, On/off switch was not obvious at first and is a little awkward to access (it's on the back near the bottom of the machine, it's a bit too stiff and difficult to press and is too small to use your foot to press it [I guess I'm used to having an on/off on vacuums that's higher up or that you can engage with your foot down low; however, I do appreciate that this on/off is covered in clear rubber/plastic to protect it), Marks on the tank for water and cleaning solution levels are only indicated for a full tank (a couple weeks after first cleaning my carpets with this machine, a mug of coffee was spilled which didn't require a full tank of solution, so I estimated the amounts for a half tank), Leaves puddles after completing a carpet cleaning if allowed to sit (I've been ending my carpet cleaning process as close to the front or back door as possible so that I can immediately take the machine outside to drip dry while I empty the dirty tank and then clean off various parts of the machine with it outside), Overall, this machine exceeded my expectations. I recommend giving this machine a try for the combination of price, convenience, compact size, effective cleaning capability, and ease of operation.
