  • Inexpensive, but packs a powerful punch in terms of suction!!!
Style: TurboClean
I purchased this carpet cleaner to use on area rugs in my home, as I do not have actual wall-to-wall carpeting anywhere anymore. With multiple geriatric dogs and a cat, accidents do happen - and I found it way to cumbersome to haul my large professional carpet cleaner from room to room for a quick "touch up." Since I have bought this little machine, I have absolutely loved it! It is not very heavy at all, is super easy to clean (more on that later), and has A LOT more suction than what one would expect from a cleaner this size and, frankly, at this price point. In terms of its ability to dry my area rugs, it does exceptionally well. Even after multiple passes for cleaning in the same area it manages to leave the rugs reasonably dry. Since the machine allows for suction without distributing water, I do use it to go over the damp areas a few times before moving on, and I can say that it definitely sucks up about 90% of the water it distributed in the cleaning process! That said, I have only used this machine on area rugs that are not made of wool, silk, etc. While my rugs are not cheap, they are an artificial fiber of some sort that allows for cleaning them aggressively. I will have to report back how a wool rug responds to being cleaned with this cleaner! So, suction and water pickup is great with this one - carpets are dry within an hour with a fan running. There is no stair attachment, but since I don't have carpeted stairs, that's not an issue for me. The used water tank and the fresh water/cleaner reservoir both are smaller than in the full-size machines, but even with less capacity I can do a solid 10 minutes of carpet cleaning before having to empty the dirty water and refill the tank with fresh water and cleaning solution. One small drawback I have experienced is that once the used water tank is nearly full, it does tend to "spew" foam from regular spot cleaning attempts onto the wall, the floor, or whatever else is near it within three feet or so. A defoamer takes care of this, as does careful handling when the tank gets full. DO NOT move the machine around too quickly, as you will have foam coming out everywhere! When cleaning the machine, the tank itself is easy to rinse out and clean. The lower brush area is also a snap to clean if you roll up the cord, take out the fresh water tank, and lay the machine on its front onto a countertop, with the lower brush area over/in the sink. If you have a removable faucet handle, just rinse it out like that, and you are good to go!!! Easiest machine to clean, ever. Other noteworthy points are that the cord is not very long, and that there is no way to get under furniture unless you move it (no handtools, etc.). All in all, for the price of this machine and the excellent suction, it is a great buy, and I can only recommend it. If you have thousands of square feet of carpeting, then no, this is not the machine for you. You are gonna need something far more powerful and expensive - on the other hand, this is perfect for area rugs and a quick accident removal type of cleaning. Either way, as long as you are aware of the limitations of this machine, you should find it to be extremely useful and an asset to your cleaning regime! ... show more

  • Excellent performance for the price. Works great for small spaces or back pain free spot cleaning. Excellent performance for the price. Works great for small spaces or back pain free spot cleaning.
Style: TurboClean
I've used this now twice to clean my bedroom carpet. Its not a huge room but big for an apartment. I'm VERY glad I didn't get dissuaded by some of the reviews that complain about cleaning it, because it's really not that hard (I'll get to that). Suction: I found the suction to be more than adequate. I've used a lot of steam cleaners, many way more expensive and had it take days to dry the carpet. With this cleaner both times the carpet was dry the next day following the instructions doing two or so passes to suck up the water. Effectiveness: You can see by my image that it definitely gets up the dirt. I have two little elderly dogs, so on top of the normal dog dirtiness they also occasionally have accidents. It got up the dirt very well as you can see in the image, but it also got up the accidents, which is no small feat. They are male dogs so it has a particularly strong smell. Cleaning: I read all the reviews that stated you have to take it apart and unscrew to get it clean and about getting hair in the tank. Don't do what I did, and instead ignore those. You don't have to do that. To clean the tank, I found it quite effective to fill it water after use and dump it out in a way that directed all of the hair out or close enough to the hole to reach it with my finger to get it out. Rinsing it out and drying it between uses will also help the smell that was mentioned by other reviews. As far as it being awkward to dump out. I found that is true of every carpet cleaner I've ever used. My strategy is to set it in the tub to drain. If you are worried about the dog hair going in the drain, get a TubShroom. And if you aren't get a tubshroom anyways (it catches the hair above the drain). I don't work for them, I just have really long hair, and clumps of it comes out in the shower and I hated pulling it out of the drain. Cleaning the brush. Don't take the screws out, it's a pain to get them back in and you don't need to. I found I was able to get all the hair out with my finger, a small toothbrush would also work. They designed plenty of space in there to clean it out. Cleaning the rest of the machine. Just run water through it after you use it, which is recommended by the manufacturer anyways. I leave it to dry in the tub after I clean everything out before storing it. Size: This is the perfect size for an apartment, or if you only need to do spot cleaning but don't want to kill your back. It is super tiny so I can put it in my apartment closet, and it also fits in cleaning some of the tighter spaces which was an unexpected bonus. For cleaning my one room I had to empty out the dirty water tank 3 times. I doubt this was intentional, but you can tell when it's full because foam with spurt a little out the vent on the top of the tank, which was pretty handy. The downside of the size I could see the size of the tanks being annoying for cleaning multiple rooms or a large space. Longevity: I can't really speak to this since I've only used it twice. But I didn't notice a performance difference between the first and second uses. I did notice that when you take the tank out the bottom plastic flexes quite a bit. I'm hoping this is to accommodate slight floor bumps and not indication of the plastic breaking in the future, but only time will tell. Bottom line. If you are considering for a smaller space or spot cleaning, do it. The only con for my use case, my dog is TERRIFIED of it. It's so scary he hid behind the also scary vacuum. ... show more

  • Very good as long as you keep expectations realistic
Style: TurboClean
This little carpet shampooer isn't going to replace the guys that come to your house once or twice a year with the big machines and biceps. But if you hop on any pet stains right away, you stand an excellent chance of full recovery. Anything set in is, of course, harder to clean and might take a couple times. But it is right sized to store in a small broom closet, light weight, easy to assemble (very easy - there are good diagrams and exactly two screws), and works as intended -- move it forward with a trigger button held down and it puts down the cleaner/water combination, let go of the trigger and move it back and it sucks up the water. Good suction, by the way. I used to have the earlier version of this Bissell 7 years ago -- it broke one year ago, and I decided I really missed it. They've done a few updates over the years including a redesigned part that broke on my old one. We always have one or two dogs and they eventually get -- sadly -- old and go through their own health issues. This is an effective tool to have for anyone but kind of an essential tool if you love dogs! I recommend it. One star off because one of the criteria was "deep cleaning" and I am not sure that's exactly what's taking place here. But it's pretty darned good for the money. ... show more

  • Awesome little cleaner! Absolutely love it!
Style: TurboClean
I've rented a lot of Rug Doctors etc. over the years. Heavy things, I'm beat after 2 or 3 hours of running them. Read some reviews on this, figured for the price, why not. I love it! Talk about light and easy to use! Yes, it has a narrower swath than the big machines. So what? It's so light, it's like running a vacuum -- a light one! -- back and forth, and it does clean! Does it clean as deep as the big machines? I don't know. Probably not. But I see spots disappear, dirt come up, and the carpet look and smell good once again. Nice thing is I can pull this thing out any time, run some hot tap water, throw in a half cup of soap, and run it for three minutes or whatever. Do the whole house, or just a section. No running to the store to rent a machine, hauling it back and forth. Without this machine, the stains sat there until I made the time to rent the machine, get it back in 24 hours, etc. You know the drill. I never have liked that drill. And big bonus is that after an hour of using this? I feel great! Just zero wear and tear on the body. Only thing you might try is going with half cup of soap, not a full cup. Given the conditions of our carpets, I did the full cap of soap in the water. Strong soap smell for two days. Used half a cap for the basement carpets, did the trick. Nice thing is, on heavy stains and such, you can run the machine -- so easily -- back and forth on it until the stains are gone. The brush continues to spin whether you're releasing water or not. Haven't found a stain that doesn't come up, and we had a few, what with dogs and basic living. Normally I don't write a long review. But I gotta say I love this little machine. Well worth the very affordable price. ... show more

  • Overall the best compact carpet cleaner I've ever used.
Style: TurboClean
I own two carpet cleaners, this one, and the bissell pro heat 2x revolution, both are on-par with each other when it comes to cleaning power, the 2x revolution just has bigger tanks, and is a little more convenient for cleaning large areas of carpet, or stairs because of its hose. I've skimmed through the negative reviews of this product, and I can see that there are a few glaring issues with how people are using this carpet cleaner. -they're using WAYYY to much solution, meaning that there's a bunch of suds in the dirty water tank to spew out of the exhaust and onto your walls. use the recommended amount on the bottle of solution that you've purchased. this can range from 2.5 to 4 ounces, just read the back of the bottle, it should tell you. DO NOT USE THE LINES ON THE CLEAN WATER TANK!!! -their vacuum is either trash, or they're not prevacuuming the carpet before using the carpet cleaner. you should not see any pet hair whatsoever inside of the machine during any point in use. if you do, your vacuum isn't picking it up, and you have other issues to deal with. -they've bought too small of a carpet cleaner for the amount of carpeting in your household. if you have more than two rooms or area rugs to clean, get a bigger carpet cleaner (ie: the 2x revolution), this has a half gallon dirty/clean water tank. meaning that if you're cleaning at an acceptable pace, you might get 15sqft of carpet before having to dump the dirty water tank and refill the clean water tank. you can clean a lot of carpet with this machine, but it will not be enjoyable. -they're not cleaning parts of the machine after every use. if you flip the machine over, and look near the brushroll, there should be a single Phillips head screw that you can remove to take the brushroll out to clean it and the plastic around it. you should do this every use. (seriously it takes 5 mins, it's not that bad) furthermore, adding onto the above point, you should rinse out the machine's dirty water tank and clean water lines by running a full tank of hot clean water (without solution) through it while the head of the machine sits inside of something like a baking sheet or large plastic container, that way all of the parts get rinsed out. this is the same thing they have you do with the bissell crosswave. if you're having trouble dispensing solution, fear not, do this before you go insane: flip the machine over, and find the line of holes that the clean water sprays out of, then get a paperclip and push it into every one of these holes from one end to the other until you've cleaned out every hole, then try it again. if that didn't work, get a can of computer duster (or a compressed air hose) and press it to where the clean water tank's spout goes into the machine, then blow. that will clear any clog inside of the system, and you should have no issue using it from that point on. all in all 10/10 machine, it's dirt cheap and does it's job well, can't recommend enough to anyone with dirty carpets. ... show more

  • Nice, but "cleaning the cleaner" is little hard Nice, but "cleaning the cleaner" is little hard
Style: TurboClean
I always felt that my place looked dirty even after vigorous vacuuming. And I figured out why after using this carpet cleaner--my place was indeed dirty. I am renting an apartment and I guess the management never had the carpet cleaned. The first time I used this carpet cleaner, I could not even see the bottom roller brush because of all thick layers of fur collected!!! After one week I ran this for the second time, and not so much fur was collected that I did not need to clean the bottom roller. So I think this cleaner is working good also as a standard upright vacuum. As you can see in the picture, all parts can be detached and washed (the roller can be detached easily; I just did not clean it this time) and I like it. The only problem is that you need some spatial perception ability to clean the dirty water reservoir. As the picture shows, you CAN clean it, but it is a bit hard as you cannot open it and should "slip" water by tilting the reservoir in specific ways to remove dirt. I still do not understand how the inside looks like, but I just shake it with half full of water and most of the dirt comes out. For suction power, I think this is more powerful than the cordless vacuum I currently have. I am very satisfied with the cordless vacuum because it is so convenient, but I think this carpet cleaner is a nice addition because this could serve as an additional upright vacuum cleaner for deep cleaning. I cannot really compare, though, as I have not used any other carpet cleaner. With a tank full of water, I can clean my 1000 sqft place and about 1/4 of water is still unused. I will fill up the tank 3/4 from the next time... I am glad I did not buy a larger one because I can clean the whole space without refilling water anyway and I prefer a lightweight vacuum. It is a (relative) relief to my wrist. In summary, good if you are looking for a cheap, small, lightweight carpet cleaner. But, I would NOT recommend this if you are planning to clean lots of dog/cat poo. I can imagine the smell would forever stick to the dirty water tank. ... show more

  • Okay if you don't have much carpet or rug to clean...
Style: TurboClean
What I like about this machine is that it is small and lightweight and gives the option of cleaning carpet without renting a big machine or buying a large home shampooer. I have only 1 5 x 7 area rug to clean; otherwise all hardwood and tile. However, I bought this as the rug is ivory color and has one 8 inch section on one side that gets some traffic when entering the room as it is directly in front of the sofa. I have 2 cats. I have used this product 3 times now and am impressed with the fact that even though the rug appears basically clean, no stains, spots, etc., when this shampooer is used, it is amazing how dirty the water is showing that the carpet/rug is not really clean. The other thing I was very impressed with is the amount of hair (mostly cat hair although my cats are short hair cats) it picks up. It's easy to use and lightweight so not hard to push or cumbersome. Now, the cons: Each time I have used the shampooer, I am struck by how little water is suctioned back out compared to the amount of water/shampoo that has been used from the tank. Going over the rug multiple times doesn't result in more water coming out. The rug stays pretty wet after shampooing and takes a very long time to dry. This is concerning to me as the rug sits directly on my hardwood floor. The other thing that is very confounding is the design of the dirty water tank. It has a couple of holes for you to dump the water out, but anything other than water that's in the tank doesn't come out from a lot of the nooks and crannies of the tank and unless you completely disassemble it with a screwdriver, there's some clumps of hair, etc. that stay caught in the tank. It's nice that the nozzle comes off for rinsing and cleaning in the sink however the roller and clear cover above the roller that both end up with a ton of hair and dirt are NOT easily accessible to clean. In summary, it's a good basic shampooer if you have a very limited need for carpet/rug shampooer but I definitely wouldn't consider it for a carpeted home. ... show more

  • Really works at removing stains! Really works at removing stains!
Style: TurboClean
My carpeting is 14 years old with areas badly stained from years of wear. After trying to clean by hand I basically gave up but finally the stains got so bad I decided to buy a cleaning machine. After considering various wet vacs I decided to buy this instead based on the supposed ease of use and that it would probably do the job. I've only used this once so I can't vouch for the durability of the product but as to its ease of use and effectiveness I'm extremely satisfied. It comes requiring very little assembly, snap in the handle and screw in two screws in that's it, you're ready to go. For me this was a great start as I'm basically Peter Brady...not mechanically inclined! In 5 minutes the item was assembled and ready for use. I bought the Bissell 78H63 Deep Clean Pro to use in the machine and the combination worked beyond my expectations. This is basically a vacuum with an attachment container that you fill with water and shampoo along with another attachment container that collects the circulated water/shampoo combination after it is applied to and sucked out of the carpeting. You make one run and back releasing the shampoo by pressing a lever, you make one run and back dry by releasing the lever. The first run washes and sucks in the wash, the second just sucks it in. This is not a powerful machine, a single set of runs will not do the job. Based on my experience you really need to do at least 10 runs back and forth over the same area, a little more for badly stained areas. It does take time, my 40 foot by 20 foot living room took me about 4 hours but when I was done it was like I had new carpeting again. Fill the container with mostly warm water and a small amount of shampoo, attach and go. After about three or four cycles detach the container that collects the wash and empty into the sink. The black water that emptied out was disgusting and I'm so glad that all that dirt has been removed from my carpeting...but I guess that was to be expected after 14 years. The product is easy to slap together, very lightweight, very easy to operate. After some use you do need to remove clumps of carpet that get sucked into the nozzle and collection container but that's easy to do, the only negative thing I can say is that in areas where I used the item vigorously the carpet remained too damp for my liking and I used a towel to soak up the moisture the machine didn't extract. But that's a small downside to what otherwise has proven so far to be a fantastic product that turned my nasty old stained carpeting into looking almost like new! ... show more
