  • Light, convenient, works well
Color: Ocean Blue
I've been using my Shark Cordless vacuum for a few months now. I still love it. I was waiting to make sure it kept working before reviewing. So far, so good. I haven't had the best luck with the less expensive cordless vacuums. One was so hard to clean I just sent it back. Another had a problem with the rollers not spinning. I managed to keep it going for 2 years but always presented problems. This one is easy. The rollers stop the nanosecond a problem is detected and nothing has gotten wrapped up in them. This one is not so expensive that I couldn't afford it and is what I was looking for. It seems durable and hopefully it will last more than a few years. It's easy to use, lightweight and empties very easily. Just hold it over the garbage can and push the button. Nice. It's also easy to charge. I just plug it in next to a wall and let it charge. My only complaint is actually that the charge barely lasts long enough. I have 1204 sq. ft. on 3 levels. I use a larger, corded vacuum for the top level that has 2 carpeted bedrooms. So, I'm only vacuuming the hard floors on the 2nd level (with some throw rugs) and the carpeted living room on the ground floor. Also 18 total carpeted steps. So, I wish the charge would last another 10-15 minutes for a more complete job. That said, it works so well, that I'm still very happy. The best part is that it's small enough and light enough to make cleaning the stairs a lot less of a chore than with a full-sized regular vacuum. The rollers pull strongly and the suction is quite adequate. Not overwhelmingly so but does the job. I have 2 cats and need to be able to have a handy device especially for the steps where they love to play. ... show more

  • Perfect stick vacuum, as long as it fits your demands Perfect stick vacuum, as long as it fits your demands
Color: Charcoal
As a disclaimer, our home is 1700ft2, and about 2/3 of it is carpeted. The vacuum works phenomenal on the regular carpeting and hardwood in the house, but struggles a little bit with the wool area rug. The variety of ways this vacuum can be assembled makes it extremely versatile. For example, using the regular brush roll head while removing the extension works wonders on the carpeted stairs. The short "handheld" version with the scraper does great on the couch. And the extension, with the small ended nozzle, works great for after the initial vacuuming, getting all the dirt along the edges of the rooms and furniture. It lays down almost flat, so getting under things like the dog food bowls, the couch, the dining room table etc are a breeze. So the reason I made the title the way it is, is related to battery life. To realistically clean our first floor (mostly hardwood/tile + wool rug) and the second floor (totally carpeted) will eat up the entire battery. The battery is NOT fast to charge. The runtime is based I believe on the vacuum running in "handheld mode" (aka without the brush head). So, if you're home is over 1500ft2 and mostly carpeted, you're going to have to throw it on the charger for a while most likely. I think it would greatly benefit Shark to come up with swappable batteries, think Milwaukee or DeWalt style. If you're handy you can do this yourself, but it would greatly benefit the company to have a proprietary design for this. Another con, though I hesitate to call it a con based on the portability of this vacuum, is the power. As mentioned, it does great on our regular carpeting, but just isn't as good as the corded Shark we've had for almost 10 years. This is to be expected as the motor in the corded vac draws significantly more power than the cordless battery version, but still worth mentioning. The vacuum is very light and easy to use. The blue light on the front of the roller head is AWESOME, and will show every spec of dirt on any uncarpeted surface. Overall, for the sale price we got it at (I want to say between $175-225, can't remember exactly) it has been excellent. Just keep in mind how much you're going to want to run it at once, as if you're living space is too big, you will have to take long breaks to recharge the vacuum. ... show more

  • Good for puppy glitter and quick cleanup
Color: Ocean Blue
Got this mainly for dog hair on hardwood floors around the house. I had something similar before this that finally gave up after years of daily use picking up what I call puppy glitter, so I already knew the style of vacuum I was looking for. I really enjoy using Shark products and so long as they keep the quality up, I will probably continue using them. Performance has been solid so far. Suction is strong and it picks up dog hair very easily on hardwood floors. That was the biggest thing I cared about and it handles everyday messes without much effort. It is lightweight and easy to pick up, especially for someone who does not want to drag around a heavy vacuum. That makes quick cleanups easier instead of pulling out something bulky. I also like the versatility. Being able to switch to the handheld setup makes it useful for more than just floors and helps with smaller cleanup jobs around the house. Battery has done well for quick cleanups. I have not had issues with it dying halfway through smaller jobs. One thing I like is the size. It does not take up much room and storage is simple compared to larger vacuums. For pet hair, hardwood floors, and daily touch-up cleaning, this has been a good fit so far. ... show more

  • Works well, not worth full price though
Color: Charcoal
Works well, but doesn’t get close to walls on the sides or front. Charge lasts a good amount of time, easy to empty canister, but it’s kind of a pain to clean the canister because water gets trapped and won’t dry even after two days sitting open. This vacuum works opposite of every other vacuum I’ve had - it sucks up rugs I can normally vacuum over and vacuums rugs I’d normally suck up. Make it make sense! It works well for hard floors but carpet and rugs take a few passes to get visible hair/dirt/crumbs. It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, the light works really well for seeing what needs vacuumed up on the hardwood, and it’s solid enough to feel like it’s doing a good job as opposed to feeling like I might break it if I bump something or roll over thresholds. The canister/battery attaching to the vacuum while charging is an excellent feature and keeps the vacuum from falling over or needing a bracket attached to the wall - I can charge it anywhere. ... show more

  • 10/10 would buy again
Color: Ocean Blue
This vacuum was my one and only prime day splurge last year and I have not regretted it even once. I researched different stick vacs and decided this model seemed like the best value for what I needed (vs. dyson and other brands). Overall summary: extremely easy to use, charge, and clean the vacuum itself. Very effective and functional, would absolutely buy again even if it died tomorrow after only one year of owning but it seems to be working about 98% as well as it was right out of the box. I specifically waited a year to write this because many reviews I read when comparing cordless vacuums prior to purchase mentioned problems after about 6 months of use. I've had none. The rest of the review is long but I know if I would have appreciated reading this input when shopping around. Battery life: I timed the use when I first got it and ran it for ~40 minutes switching between hard floor and carpet settings and it did not run out. I think it's only died on me once or twice in the entire time I've had it, and that's when I was vacuuming the entire ~3000 sq ft house in one go. Since I usually stick to just upstairs or just downstairs at a time, battery isn't an issue for me even on the high power setting. Suction/dust cup capacity: the suction is only ever affected when the dust collector cup is seriously full, and since we had two cats and one dog and were catching up on a long time of neglecting vacuuming, this was pretty often at first. Since then we've gotten through one or two full battery charges worth of cleaning without having to empty, which means the suction has been great. We use crystal cat litter that sometimes gets statically stuck to our cat's fur and he will shake it off on the carpeted floor. This vacuum has been great at getting the litter (and fur of course) out of the carpet. Not to mention actually emptying the dust cup is super easy too. Hand vac/crevice tool: switching attachments is also very easy. I had a super cheap hand vac I used to use for crevices and cleaning my car, but no more. This is great for getting in between couch cushions, car seats, cup holders, floorboards, etc. Brush roll: I have long hair and I shed a lot more than the average person. One of the biggest deciding factors between brands for me was the ability to get my hair out of the brush roll and I definitely made the right choice on this one. Even when my hair is clogging the brush roll, it has never once actually stopped it from rolling and has barely changed the effectiveness at all. When I do clean it out - it's SO easy thanks to the grooves on the roll and the bristle design. Even on other vacuums that are supposedly designed to easily clean the brush roll, it has never been this easy before. Down side: The only suggestion for improvement I have is that the tiny wheels on the front of the vacuum head were tangled with fur/dust/hair after the second or third use. Unlike the brush roll, it seems impossible to fix this. On the other hand, even though I'm not sure those wheels even roll anymore, it hasn't actually seemed to have any effect on the vacuum's functionality which is why I'm still giving five stars. If you are on the fence about getting a stick vac in general: I cannot recommend it enough and it is absolutely worth making the switch. My partner and I both have depression and ADHD which makes it very hard for us to find the motivation to clean. Since getting this vacuum I am not kidding, I have vacuumed more in the past year than I have the rest of my adult life (I'm 32! Yes, this is embarrassing!). We keep this near the kitchen within easy reach and eye sight, and it's small enough not to be in the way. We also have carpeted stairs which were the worst to have to deal with - both mentally and literally - and now I vacuum them regularly just because it's so easy. We have had multiple full size/traditional "pet" specific vacuums before and this specific model has equal or better suction power and is so much more convenient than all of them. And it fits under the couch! ... show more

  • This vacuum is amazing with great suction! I saw a store using on their doormat.
Color: Ocean Blue
We have a bunch of large door floor mats in front of several doors in the house, plus some walkway doorways that collect dirt and lint balls on the carpet. Always a big project getting out the canister vacuum, hose, and carpet floor unit to vacuum, so they don't get vacuumed as often as they should. A few weeks ago I'm walking out of a local large grocery store and see one of this model of Shark stick vacuum being used on their entry doorway floor mat. I took a look and remembered "Rocket" on the carpet unit, then tracked the stick vac down here and at a big box home store. What really caught my attention was the clear plastic "catch bin" at the top! Seemed like exactly the right thing in the right place, and clear so I could see what was being picked up. Well yep, having bought one, it works even better than expected! The various comments here, before I bought, said you have to pull the "high suction" trigger to get sufficient power on carpets, and that drains the battery faster. BOTH TRUE, BUT WHEN YOU DO THAT THIS THING SUCKS LIKE CRAZY! I'm impressed with what was in the catch bin and what I could see coming up from the carpets and mats. Small bits like cat litter, large bits of stuff, lint, hairs, everything on the mats and rug walkways. I vacuumed two carpet areas in in doorways between rooms that always accumulate a lot of dirt. Then vacuumed 3 of the door mats. Then vacuumed part of a sunroom carpet where a bunch of cats live. Even on the "high suction" the battery was only 2/3 gone after all that (there are 3 LEDs that tell you charge/discharge level) but I stopped because it looked like the catch bin might be full. This was first use and I wasn't sure. Yep, completely full, and that is a large bin! One thing: INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT CLEAR THAT THE CATCH BIN EMPTIES WITH A TRAP DOOR ON ITS BOTTOM, WHEN YOU PRESS THE EMPTY LEVER. SO IT WILL DUMP RIGHT INTO YOUR LAP IF YOU DON'T KNOW THAT UPFRONT, LIKE HAPPENED TO ME. :) Luckily it was close enough to my lap that the suddenly-open trap door hit my leg and only opened about an inch, limiting how much came out until I could move it and me to the trash can. :) Knowing how it works now, I just hold it over the trash can then trigger the bottom door release. Which is really great, you don't have to turn the catch bin upside down and shake or such. There isn't a printed set of "word" instructions with the unit, it is one of those picture instruction pamphlets. For the most part that works, as in: assemble the stick pipe into the floor unit, then the vacuum head onto the stick pipe. There apparently is a QR code on the top than can be scanned for more instructions. Pro tip: the inside of the catch bin will be dusty after you empty. I used a "computer air" spray can (for PC keyboards and such) to blow out the inside and top. There is no way to get the unit to self-stand that I've found, for storage, as other comments here have noted. I found two cabinets with a space between them wide enough to set this unit in upright. Done! Even has a plug nearby for the charger. Those LEDs near the "suction trigger" show you how the charging is coming along. 3 of them that light in sequence as it charges, then they all go off when completely charged. Charges reasonably fast. At a local big box home store I saw this unit in person, plus a whole bunch of other brands and models. Yep, I "showroomed" then ordered here for $30 less. :/ None of the brands and models had that nice, large, clear catch bin at the top back like this one has. Several brands had black or opaque catch bins and they were located in odd places. Why? To make sure I won't be able to see how full it is getting? Guys! :) This vacuum is great, for what it is, a quick and fairly powerful unit to quickly clean floor mats, doorways, and other small areas. Probably not the ideal thing for your entire living room rug, although could do it with a few re-charges and catch bin empties. Summary: just buy it already! :) A+++++ ... show more

  • Not Built For Pets
Color: Ocean Blue
I've had this vacuum for about 6 months now. While it works well for the price, I don't think this is built for pets like it claims. I have a mostly hardwood flooring in my apartment but my bedroom has carpet. It's a smaller bedroom so about 10x10 worth of carpet. So I needed something that would vacuum my hardwood well plus carpet. While it works perfectly on the hardwood it really struggles with the carpet. I pull back and theres just clumps of hair. It gets clogged constantly and I have to cut the hair out of the brush and pull it all out. If it suctions too hard then it just turns the brush off and you have to turn it off and back on again which is really annoying on my rug in the living room. I think it would work just fine if I didn't have 4 cats. But calling this a Pet focused vacuum is just a lie. I love Shark so I think I will have to get an upright vacuum from them instead. But I needed something small and flexible for my small apartment but alas.. I have too many pets for this one. I also wish the battery life was longer as it dies pretty quick which is really frustrating waiting for it to charge. ... show more

  • Quality secondary vacuum
Color: Charcoal
I bought this vacuum for my townhouse, which is mostly tile and not very large, and overall I’ve been happy with it. It works especially well as a secondary vacuum or for smaller spaces, but I wouldn’t recommend it as the only vacuum for a larger home or for homes with a lot of carpet. On tile floors, the battery life is solid and the suction performs well. However, on carpet the vacuum automatically increases suction power, which drains the battery much faster. The vacuum is lightweight, compact, and easy to maneuver, and the Reveal feature works really well. It also does a good job picking up dirt and debris from hard floors. My main complaint is storage. Even though it’s compact, it doesn’t stand upright on its own, comes apart into several pieces, and the battery needs to stay connected to an outlet for charging, which makes storing it a little inconvenient. Overall, it’s a good vacuum for smaller homes or as a supplemental vacuum, especially if you primarily have tile floors. ... show more
