First time Shark customer, first time Robot Vacuum owner & user and I'm impressed. I wasn't sure what brand to buy, being that there are SO many and so many price ranges. I saw this vac at a big box home improvent store and noticed it got the best reviews compared to less and more expensive vacs, with the great price point it was worth a try. Amazon's price was better than the store. This little vac was extremely easy to set up. Just plug in the dock, place the vac on and charge before your first use. Once charged, download the app from any app store and set up an account. The app guides you through the steps to get the vac started, it's very easy. Easier than setting up a new phone. Overall this vac seems to be very well made, so we're very pleased with it. This little bugger picks up a LOT. She (ours is named Rosie after the Jetson's robot) swept old carpeting that was very dirty due to moving things around and storing in that room. She fluffed the carpet and picked up ALL of the debris on the carpet. She did a better job than my Oreck (my Oreck is older and losing suction, though does a great job on vinyl plank). Suction is A+! As already stated it picked up string, paper pieces, dust, etc, etc off of old carpet. She dusted the plank floors extremely well. This vacuum mauevers very well. She became confused after going under a snack table but DID figure her way out! I was very impressed. It gently bumps it's way out of situations and to find it's way. It cleaned under every table, along baseboards, under couches. When we felt she had vacuumed enough, just hit dock button in the app and the vac returns to its dock. We did learn that it's best to place the doc in an open area, otherwise the vac can't maneuver into the dock. It needs space to spin and back into it's dock. Having used this product now for a couple of weeks I can say this is well worth the price and is very effective at cleaning our tiled floor throughout our apartment including an abundance of Spaniel hairs. The vac is easy to service and empty and does a great job at navigating around obstacles like table and chairs. It can get stuck in tight V shaped corners but that's not surprising. The connectivity with my phone works well but if you lose power you might need to go thru the reconnection process that is straightforward. All in all a great product and no regrets whatsoever in purchasing it. ... show more

    • Better than the Roomba s9+ that I tried
Style: Matrix Auto Empty (45 Days)
I had 2 robot vacuums. An Ecovacs Deebot N79S, and a Roomba 694. When the Deebot quit on me after 2 years, I decided to upgrade to a model with mapping technology. I decided on this model due to it's relative low cost with automatic emptying and good back and forth vacuuming method. The first thing I noticed is that it's quieter than both of my older vacuums, although this may be due to using the default MEDIUM suction setting. MEDIUM has worked so far so I have not changed it from that. It is also VERY thorough in cleaning. First it cleans along the perimeter of the room then changes to the interior. Once one room is done, it moves to the next. You will have to do an initial mapping of your desired cleaning area first so it knows where all the furniture, walls, and stairs are. After that initial mapping you can set 'no-go' zones. Most setup and interaction with the vacuum is done though a smartphone app, although there are very basic buttons i.e. on/off/return to dock on the vacuum itself. This vacuum uses LiDAR location technology so it does a real good job of vacuuming everywhere but you will have to pick up small objects off the floor because it will not see them. I had to put bumpers near the pet bowls because it was pushing them around and spilling them. You can set up 'no-go' zones in the app but I have not been able to get them to work properly yet. Hopefully Shark will put out a firmware update that will fix this. The auto-emptying dock is a lot quieter than the Roomba S9+ dock that I tried. The S9+ dock was as loud as a shop vac, if you've ever heard one of those. The S9+ also pushed around most of the small carpets I had at the entrances from outside. This vacuum does not. Unfortunately, you will have to clean the HEPA filter on the vacuum itself every 2-3 cleanings. It clogs up quickly and being NON-REPLACEABLE, it's a pain to have to clean. ... show more
