  • Pleasantly Surprised
Style: 1 Person - Black Matte
I give it a 5 based on my 3 week experience so far . I cant comment on longevity but with the price i bought this just before Christmas with a coupon that isn't a big factor . I found assembly to be straight forward and not complicated. The fit of canopy over poles was snug in a good way . Ill be honest i had no high hopes for this at all , but my daughter a professional athlete insisted on one for Christmas while she recovers from an injury . I set up in my heated garage which i can get up to 75-80 quickly in winter. The sauna was up to temp in about 15 minutes , using warm to hot water to fill reservoir up to max fill line .I did not find the lid to be fragile or like it would crack , but going into this i made sure to be careful using two hands when opening or closing lid. Initially the temperature got to a max of 115-117 which with the steam is plenty hot . But ... i decided to throw a light moving blanket over the top and wrapped around the back . I don't believe this is necessary but i wanted to see the difference if any . Yes , there was a difference . After the blankets the temp was now getting to 126-128 which is to me very hot . So i was very satisfied with the heat as was my daughter . Now , since the addition of essential oil is not recommended in pot , i took a coffee cup with 4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and placed the steam outlet pointed into cup , worked great , game changer for sauna session . Couple things i did was to put a beach towel doubled up on floor to A , protect floor and B to absorb moisture . The chair that came with the tent is okay , but in my opinion could be a little better , so i replaced that with a small shower chair and was much happier with that and easier to clean . I also added a couple other things not required but thought i would try . I hung some small battery operated LED lights up and a clip on small rechargeable fan set on low just to distribute air a bit to lower half of tent again not needed but makes more comfortable . Overall very impressed with this and fully realize this is not a professional sauna but I'm happy and so is my daughter . I do believe cleaning and drying the unit is important to longevity . I wipe down and remove floor pan after every use , then after its dry i wipe with a citrus vinegar solution . So , i was pleasantly surprised and do recommend . ... show more

  • Good Buy for the Money--Steam Version
Style: 1 Person - Black
Please note, this review is for the steam version, not the infrared. I have been a sauna/steam room aficionado most of my adult life--certainly over the last 40 years or so. In fact, I love saunas so much I had one installed on my back deck in my previous house. But then I retired and moved across the country and my new place lacks a sauna, unfortunately. So, I decided to give this product a try--if only to see how well it works and whether it can tide me over until I can have a real sauna built on my new back deck next year. Despite my concerns, I was pleasantly surprised by this product. Yeah, it only holds one person. But I live alone, so that's fine. Sure, it seems a bit flimsy. But I only intend to use it temporarily. So again, not an issue. All in all, it suits the purpose--it works; it produces adequate steam and heat, it doesn't take up a lot of space, and it doesn't cost a fortune. Now, bear in mind, I only just got it today, so I can't attest to its durability. But from what I've seen so far, it's worth the money. Happily, it arrived much sooner than expected, less than a week after ordering. It arrived in a good-sized box with everything intact. I'm an old guy (68) and it took me only about 20 minutes to put it all together. The instructions weren't great, but clear enough. And I'm not that clever, so if I can do it, you can do it. The metal pipe frame went together easily and the mylar envelope (or tent) was fairly simple to install, just be sure to unzip the ENTIRE thing before attempting to slip it over the metal frame. I didn't and it took me a couple of minutes of fruitless struggle before I realized my mistake. Unzip the whole mylar envelope and slide it under and over the frame as instructed. Then it zips back together quite easily. The zippers are good-sized and sturdy enough for this application. There is also a clear plastic window in the door that fits in place with velcro--easy. The included chair is a standard folding camp chair. My only complaint is that it sits too low--the seat bottom is only about 13" from the ground. It's not a problem for me to get in and out of (I'm 5'9" and 160 lb), but once everything heats up, the chair is simply too low to get to the higher temperature steam that rises to the top of the box. The instructions for the "boiler" or "heater" are simple enough, if a bit incomplete. But I figured it out without too much trouble. The plastic lid is upside down on top of the boiler for packing (that took me a couple of confused minutes to figure out). And it simply turns a half inch or so to the right to lock in place. The boiler holds just over a gallon--I used filtered water, since my neighborhood's water is quite hard. I filled it almost to the brim--a full gallon. After plugging it in and inserting the plastic hose from the lid to the tube near the lower right-hand side of the envelop, I turned it on and turned it all the way up to 16, the highest setting. It took about 20 minutes to get a full head of steam inside the box. At which point, I sat inside for a full 30 minutes. And as I mentioned, the seat is simply too low. I got a much more satisfying level of heat by standing up. So, I've ordered a director's style chair that sits about 26" from the ground. That should put my head another 13" higher and more fully into the hotter steam higher up. Still, I worked up a good sweat after about 10 minutes. But it wasn't so uncomfortable that I had to leave. My thermometer registered just about 109.6˚F after 20 minutes. With 99% humidity, that's a good amount of heat. (Mind you, I'm used to 200˚F+ in a traditional dry Finnish-style sauna.) But steam rooms (which this more closely resembles) are much cooler owing to the extremely high humidity. So, 109˚F, with all that steam, was pretty warm and certainly good enough for a solid sweat to develop. It's not really a sauna, of course, as the label claims. It's really a one-person, portable steam box. I set it up in my garage, where the ambient temperature this evening was about 58˚F--a nice contrast between the cool garage and the warm steam box. As mentioned, my only fix at this point is a taller chair (bar height, perhaps) so I can sit up in the hotter steam. By the way, after 20 minutes of warm-up and 30 minutes of use (for a total of 50 minutes) I used less than half a gallon of water. That's fine. At least I didn't run out of water. I'd also advise running it for a bit your first time, maybe half an hour or more before use--there's an unpleasant plastic smell initially. It disappeared by the time I finished. Overall, I give this a 5-star review for ease of set-up and use, and fulfillment of expectations. Is it a substitute for a real sauna or steam room? Nope. But it'll work just fine until I get one. I'll come back later with an update once I've had a chance to use it few more times to let you know if I still like it and to see how it's holding up. ... show more

  • Perfect Personal Sauna Time
Style: 1 Person - Black
Okay I will start by explaining the 4 stars I placed. One assembly takes a little effort, my first time around was a bit frustrating, by round 2 I figured out a few tricks. Make sure to pull the fabric over the corners really well as you go, not after this will create issues where it will not want to zip easily and by the way it should zip extremely easy and leave no visual light shining through said zipper. Zip as you go, this will also make it easier. Now my second reason for removing a star: the steam machine itself, the plastic top cracks and breaks, this is obviously a design flaw that needs to be worked out. Let me say if yours breaks but the top part that actually closes and seals the machine doesn't crack then you are still good to go and use it. The manufacturers' customer service is top notch. I used chat and email to contact them and work out a solution. With the help of the customer service team we found a solution that I found satisfying. They were friendly and courteous. They did their best to be quick in their responses ( as did I ) and our solution was mailed out and at my door in no time. Thank you Sarah if you read this! Now, those things aside this system is wonderful! It works superbly! It has various levels to choose from. I will typically set it up to start heating up on 10 and zip it up. Then I jump in the shower for a quick wash and rinse. After about 5 minutes sitting in it I will turn it up, depending on the day and my body sometimes back down. I love the control I have over it and the nice little pop out window at the top. Sometimes I will open the window and just stick my head out for a couple of minutes. That is another thing I love, that I can stand up in it. The chair that comes with it is fine for a smaller person as myself, I do wish the back was a little higher, but if you are not a petite person I would suggest replacing the chair with a better one for yourself. Make sure to place your "tub" ( the smaller piece of material with ties on it ) on the bottom, this catches the water so it doesn't leak. I placed towels under mine due to some reviews I read, however I am thinking these reviewers may have forgotten their "tub". I have had no issues with leaking thus far, but I make sure my little plastic spigot inside is aimed into it. I also use a towel inside it to block hot water from rolling to my feet. I may still be working the smaller kinks, but overall this is plug and play with little possibility for user error. Again I am IN LOVE with this and I would highly recommend this to anyone considering a home personal sauna system, it is really worth it! ... show more

  • Good for the desperate and cash strapped Good for the desperate and cash strapped
Style: 1 Person - Black
One month in review (steam sauna) Some positives: if you are really desperate for a TEMPORARY sauna (steam room realistically), and have extra cash to throw away down the road (give or take a few years max), get it, it’s among the “best” in its market range. Gets around 110-115F at max level with towels on top to prevent heat loss. I didn’t think this that hot mentally, but It’s actually too hot and thick for more than 15 minutes at max to sit In because the heat is thick with all the steam/water in the air, and it’s hard to breath. you actually collect more water on you than sweat, so you’ll want a rag inside for your face. Be sure to get a fan to dry it after each use, a tall stool to sit on bc heat collects above, and a cheap Bluetooth thermometer to let you know when it’s hot enough to get in (15-20 minutes for steam pot to boil enough and temp to raise). Unfortunately You cannot add oils to the pot or it will malfunction as independent sale of it specifies. Negatives: rusting in poles in less than a month and mildew smell won’t go away despite drying. I didn’t realize that you actually have to lift up the sauna when you’re done because water gets under it as steam/drops escape and collect, so you don’t just dry the inside but the outside underneath. Taking care of this sauna is like taking care of a dog that keeps getting dirty, you love it but you hate the care. Ultimately I’m into longevity and sustainability and this doesn’t fit it, but it would do for a few months or a year as a temporary fit, but don’t forget to either thoroughly clean it for any real storage or the mold will take control. The rust is unavoidable, you won’t really notice it unless you take it apart. Other cons: the remote does not work inside the sauna, the signal won’t transmit. The floor of the sauna gets soaking wet, and the water is lukewarm on the ground so feels cold and so you’ll want to wear flip flops. At room temp half full, the steam pot will take about 15 minutes to pump steam out and 20-25 minutes to raise the temperature in the sauna hot enough. Have to do advance planning. All said and done this was fun for a month until I realized how untenable it was. I already have a dog and kids, that’s enough for me to care for and enjoy. ... show more

  • Steam sauna
Style: 1 Person - Black
First of all, this is an AWESOME steam sauna! I prefer steam over dry heat and overall for me I get more benefits from moist heat. The price point is great and I went for this particular company for the really positive reviews for their customer service and support. The assembly is straight forward, I did watch a good YouTube demo and it helped a lot as I do not do well reading instructions, seeing works better for me. Although the guy made it look really easy, it is very tight to fit the fabric over the framing poles, I can see how some tear the seams and zippers. I suggest to the company, simply make the frame a little bit shorter , that I would think would make it a breeze to put together. After getting somewhat frustrated when the fabric wouldn't stretch over a corner, I took a break came back and alternated doing another corner, worked great. Also, the remote is really only good if you just don't want to bend down to do the settings on the machine before entering, as it does not work from within the sauna. My first time using I set it at max and wow it really got hot and steamy in about 10 or 15 mins, it was GREAT! The second time I set it at 10 and it did take a bit longer to start steaming, but not hot for me, so I will be keeping it closer to the max. It is a learning curve, I am very happy with this and I recommend this spa. I may disassemble this and shorten the poles a wee bit just so when and if I want to relocate, it will be easier to put it back together. Be aware this could void the warranty but I have no intention of returning it. ... show more

  • Surprisingly great, with tweaks
Style: 1 Person - Black
This is about the steam version. I read a bunch of reviews before buying and used several tips to make this thing really great, and something I used at least weekly going on about 3 months now. I doubt that pace will slow. The tips are mostly about comfort and ease of use, but they make big differences. 1) Use distilled water; I read a lot about build-up in tubes and moldy smells over time. As said I use this weekly, but for me the cost of the water is offset by allowing increased usage without the need for intense cleaning. 2) After use wipe-down; again just maintenance to avoid any buildup or odors, chances for mold, etc. I do it after I take the post-steam shower, takes two minutes tops, and between this step and the distilled water the thing still works and smells like new. 3) Tiki bench; You will be sweaty, so the chair they include is no good. Get a comfy, waterproof (mine is just a simple tiki bench) chair that won’t suck up the water and hold the smells. 4) Entertainment; I started first just using the water-resistant ear buds I have and listening to music with bluetooth. Easy. But… now I have a waterproof case for my tablet, and velcro that I attached just under the window. Now I watch in there, or sometimes just music - but now can skip songs without sticking my arm out of the tent. 5) Just so I mention it, the steam unit itself has given me no issues. I read some comments that it isn’t the best but have had no issues. Might be the distilled water choice, or that I read the instructions for how to use it before trying to use it, but works fine. Warms up in about 5-7 minutes when half full, and was easy to set. 6) The remote has never worked for me when inside the tent, which I found odd. It works when I am right next to the device, but at that point why bother. I think the range is maybe 5 ft, tops. Overall happy that I bought this, and am surprised by the durability to date. For the price it is 100% worth it, especially with the tips above (which were mostly borrowed from other reviews!) ... show more

  • Great for taller people.
Style: 1 Person - Black
First thing I want to say is that I absolutely love it. I have been looking for something like this for a long time but haven’t been able to find something like it. I’ve considered purchasing the $1,200.00+ wooden enclosure models but was gun shy about spending that kind of money. I have a friend who bought those models where your arms and head stuck out. He says it nice but it’s a little tight for him and his six foot frame. I myself am six feet tall with a wide frame so I figured it would be bad for me. When I got this I looked at the frame and was a little concerned about it. Once I got it together and got inside, I was amazed by how much room was in it. My concerns were gone. Although it would be great if it was six inches taller so I can stand in it but that’s just me being picky. The biggest issues I have with it is the assembly instructions and the manual. Assembly instructions: As with any instructions, the manual is basic as basic can get. The manual could have been a little clearer when it came to the corner pieces. I had to keep taking it apart a few times to get the right corner pieces together in order for it to come together. It wasn’t hard but it could’ve been easier. Also, it would be nice if all the rods had the push connection tabs just so it all locks in place. The #3 and #4 riser poles do not lock in place. Which made it harder to put the cover on. Keep in mind that I put this together by myself. It probably would be easier with 2 people but unnecessary. Manual: First thing there should be is a giant warning about keeping your feet and hands away from the steam entrance. If you are not careful, you could get burned. I didn’t get burned but it should be there for your companies liability. It states that it take 5 minutes to warm up but I found it better to let it warm up for 10 minutes before I get in. No big deal. I think it should say that filtered water is best to use although it is unnecessary. With filtered water, I think it would be easier to maintain. It also should say that the remote control is water proof. If not, I need to know. I’ve been taking it inside with me since I’ve started using it. I also believe that the manual should state something about being careful with the zippers. I haven’t had any issues with this but I can certainly see someone just grabbing and yanking the zippers causing them break or jump track. I would really hate to ruin the sauna just because of a zipper issue. This review is just questions, thoughts, and concerns that I had when I was setting it up. Once it all came together and after the few initial uses, I have been having a great time with it. I use it and I feel like a champ afterwards. I am so glad you guys came out with this product. I would and have recommended this product to anyone who is looking for a portable, easy to use sauna who don’t want the spend a small fortune on wooden or built in saunas. ... show more

  • Buyer Beware - Customer Support & Warranty Repair Seriously Lacking
Style: 1 Person - Black
I purchased this Steam Sauna last year around April and began using it multiple times a week, until I could Sauna everyday after workouts. Well after about 3-4 months the battery on the remote went dead, which I replaced, then the Down Arrow Button to lower the temperature completely stopped working. So I could no longer lower the temperature at all and as I had no idea how to order a replacement remote; because they are not offered on Amazon and I contacted the manufacturer and never recieved a response back and spent hours on hold trying to get the right Tech Support Dept, which is horrendous - because they speak such poor English. So I just chose to set the Temp manually before entering the sauna. Today, 11months after purchase, the Unit completely stopped working and I opened the Steam Sauna Pot and discovered that the Power Supply had shorted out the Control Unit and I contacted the manufacturer Website for a Tech Support > Warranty Repair Request which has yet to be answered. So I will warn anyone purchasing this Unit that it's a huge bargain and I got a ton on use out of my unit, my health did improve, my skin cleared up and my workout recovery was amazing -- but the customer support for replacement parts or warranty is seriously lacking. I still don't regret my purchase and I found a replacement part for the Steam Tub for $70 with a new remote from an Authorized SereneLife reseller on Ebay with a 2yr warranty; which is so dumb to me that the manufacturer can't offer these parts on Amazon. So if you ever need to replace any parts, you can find them there at an affordable price. ... show more
