  • good overall
a little big, but other than that it is okay; quiet, relatively easy to use, nice sounding alarm, and the snooze button is a nice touch.

  • Excellence in simplicity, a well-designed & reliable clock - but a bit pricey
This is a bedside alarm clock with basic features and a minimum of techie complexity, for people who want the time displayed on an analogue clock face and wake them up when they need to be woken. The clock face is 100mm x 100mm and 65mm deep, so ideal for the bedside at home but a bit large & bulky for a travel clock. The case is of black plastic and quite lightweight. You can adjust the time very simply with a pull-out rotary button control on the back, and set the alarm with the same control when pushed in. The alarm on/off switch is chunky and easy to understand and operate, and you hit a large rectangular panel on the top of the clock to turn it off in the morning. The second-hand moves evenly and the clock is silent; the hands are just luminous enough in a dark room to enable you to read the time but not so bright as to be distracting. The designers seem to have invested a good deal of time and trouble to make this clock as easy to live with as possible, with thought given to the size of the clock face (easy to read & see the time even at a distance of several feet), luminosity in the dark (sufficient, but not too bright), mid-volume alarm and simplicity of features. It runs off a single battery, and my clock keeps perfect time. Gripes: none really, except the price could be a bit lower as there are rival clocks with more features available at this price. But sometimes it's better to pay a premium for reliability & simplicity, and of course a Seiko product has a lot of brand equity so the price can be justified. ... show more
