I've had a Navimow i110N by Segway for over a year and so I'm used to the app, zones, schedule, etc. It has been fantastic for my flat front yard with numerous exclusion zones and a bridge across my driveway. No issues once the learning curve was figured out. I hate mowing my sloped back yard that's just over 1/2 acre. The X430 seemed to suit the need. So I finally pulled the trigger when they had the mower plus garage deal. I teetered because it costs as much as a new riding lawn mower, but the time and hassle of keeping on top of the yard is such a pain. Setup/use is exactly the same as my other Navimow; same app, same process. The main differences is obviously the mower size is significantly larger and double blade disks underneath. Battery life is unimpressive (slope has an impact but I'd still expect better for a 1 acre mower), but by using zones and alternate day mowing, I split it up so it could recharge between zones and have the entire yard mowed every other day. The mower has individually articulating powered front wheels that can turn independently of each other. Odd to see it navigate obstacles, but it seems to work well enough. It has a subscription service for satellite/Wi-Fi/cellular navigation. I've had good performance from just the antennae base station with my i110N, but the first year is free/included so I enabled it. Once the year is up I'll just to back to the antennae nav. Accuracy is about on par with what I've seen. I have the same strip of uncut grass along fences and planter edges that I'll have to use a trimmer for. A manual mower would get closer of course, but I'd still need to use a trimmer. I'd considered getting a model with an edge trimmer, but I decided to wait and see how this goes first. Only big issue was the first mower I received completely died after the first mow. It appears to be a one-off issue, and after worming my way through Amazon to request the return/exchange, the exchange went smoothly. My only point of frustration was the few days it took Segway support to actually act on the request, considering I was in a time crunch and needed to get the return done and the mower working before an extended trip. Since I needed it quickly and I'd already tossed the box, I ordered another mower and repacked the old one to ship back the return. The entire process ended up taking about 2 weeks from service request, new mower receipt, and old mower return/credit. So the mandatory pro/con list: Pro: -Saves me a couple hours a week mowing by back yard -Fully autonomous once set up -Notifies you of blade or chassis maintenance needs -Able to mow pretty steep slopes -Will automatically go back and recharge mid-mow if zone is larger than battery capacity Con: -Mower is heavy, and you can't "drive" it to the charging station until it's already docked the first time. If you place the station is far from where you're unboxing, it's a chore to move it. -Small battery requiring zones to break up mowing sections or mid-mow recharging If you're at least app savvy and can grasp the nuances of a somewhat complicated setup, the benefit of having your yard mowed for you is pretty darn nice. That time can be recouped to other tasks on the never-ending yard to-do list (or not! 🍻).

I was moving onto a new property that had 0.6 acres to mow and weed eat. Unfortunately, the lawnmower required would be mowing through mostly weeds since it used to be an old cow pasture. There seems to be mix of fescue, rye grass, Canadian thistle, crab grass, etc. The yard is not perfectly flat and has some gentle humps but nothing severe except the inclines of the drainage ditches in the front yard. To add context, I am not a huge yard enthusiast. My yard does not have to be perfect. I like it to look neat but if there is a random weed here or there, let nature be nature. I don’t spend hundreds of dollars to re-seed and fertilize the yard every year, but I do make sure that there are no dead spots in the yard. I make sure to seed and fertilize those areas. My faithful Craftsman push mower with Honda engine could tackle the new yard but it was going to take time to do it. In the past, I had owned a zero-turn Toro Timecutter SS. I was very satisfied with its performance and was considering the same model. On sale, this mower was about $4,300 not to mention the upkeep of the fuel, oil, etc. I saw a display model of robot electric mowers near the Toro display. This made me think about my Ego weed trimmer. I have truly enjoyed my Ego weed trimmer through the years. I would estimate that I was still using the original batteries and trimmer head after more than a decade’s worth of use. No oil or fuel required. I just kept the batteries in a temperature-controlled house and put string on it when I needed to. The trimmer stayed in the garage or shed. Thus, I started looking at an Ego zero turn lawnmower. The reviews were positive, but the price tag was $5K plus. My mind went back to the robot lawnmowers. On a whim, I decided to research lawn mowers for the size of the lawn I have. I was shocked to discover that there were robot lawn mowers for 2-3 acre yards! Some of the newest models demonstrated at expos had weed trimmer functions. Some of the lawnmowers even plowed snow and took the trash can to the curb. On a product with a price tag like this, I was not willing to be an early adopter. I wanted something proven. After research and reading many reviews, I decided to purchase the Segway Navimow X430 lawnmower. The cost of this mower was about half of what I would have spent on the Toro Timecutter SS discussed above. Unpackaging the beast lawnmower was a little awkward without two people, but I managed alone. I had followed the instructions about setting up the charging base away from the house so that proper signal could be achieved. I installed the app and adjusted some of the functions the way I wanted such as nighttime mowing. I didn’t want it to mow at night because of quality concerns. One of my most significant challenges was adjusting my mind to the number of times the X430 needs to mow the lawn. Traditionally, a person mows the lawn once or twice a week depending on the grass growth. Typically, mowers are designed to power through the grass with ease. However, these robot mowers are designed only to cut the very tips of the grass. I state this because there is no side ejection port for grass clippings. The grass clippings just drop down to the ground as the mower moves forward. In my experience, the X430 is designed to be a maintenance mower. If you have a wild and overgrown yard, this is not the tool you use on it. I would suggest having a professional service mow it one time and proceed to use the X430 from there. This led to frustration when I first started using the mower. The instruction manual for the X430 states that you basically need to start with a freshly mowed lawn which kind of defeats the purpose of buying a mower in the first place. However, I used my push mower first and then allowed the X430 to work its magic. After easily mapping the yard, it stayed within boundaries and did what it was supposed to do. However, it recharged on its base 3-4 times. I tried to research on if this was normal. There was not a set number of times that it was supposed to recharge. However, recharging does take a significant amount of time. Overall, I was pleased with its performance. I waited 3-4 days and let the lawnmower run again. I had remotely started the mower while I was at work. I thought this was the greatest thing since sliced bread. After further research, I believe this function is only available through a subscription service. I believe you get the first year free but after that you must pay for it. However, you can schedule your mowings in the app and it can function accordingly without the subscription if I understand correctly. During this first remote mowing, I was concerned when I looked at the app and noticed that there were multiple missed spots in the yard. Upon inspection of the yard, I noticed that the rye grass that had sprung up in yard that was taller than the crab grass and fescue. On a later cut of the yard, I noticed that the mower was actually stopping and mowing around one stalk of rye grass! It would leave a 6–8” diameter missed spot in the yard! I would need to take my weed trimmer and knock down these sections of the yard. I would say that with most yards, this would not be a problem but with my yard being full of weeds, this is a problem. However, as I stated above, I now allow the X430 to mow every other day. Most of the time, this works very well. However, I have equated the X430 to being a lazy teenager. Sometimes it complains that the yard is too wet and goes back to base. If it starts to sprinkle with rain, it stops mowing and goes back to base. If it gets to be close to twilight, it will stop mowing and go back to base. I can correct the nighttime mowing issue with allowing to mow at nighttime but I am concerned about quality and don’t allow it to do it. These delays are not a huge headache and mostly make me laugh when I tell people I have a lazy robot mower. Let’s discuss cut quality. I would say with most grass, it cuts grass great. However, in some sections the grass is flimsier and it plows the grass down rather than cut it. This is not a significant issue but does happen. The blades do not seem to spin at the same RPM as typical lawnmowers but as stated earlier, the X430 is just meant to cut the tips of the grass and not more of it. The app quality is not perfect but is good. It does not perform well with limited cell service or Wi-Fi. It sends frequent notifications about status such as whether the X430 is going to the charging base for recharge, inclement weather, etc. You can manually drive the X430 using your phone like a remote control. This reminds me of playing with remote controlled cars as a kid. This is a handy feature if missed spots in the yard occur. I would not attempt to mow the entire yard using your phone as remote control. When trying to engage this feature, it almost always says my blue tooth connection is weak and I need to stand closer to the mower. I issue the command again without making any other changes and usually it performs the desired function. I am about hallway through my first mowing season. With all of the negative remarks stated above, I would love to buy this product again based on current performance. There is no more rushing home to make sure I can mow the yard before nightfall. Yes, I still must use my weed trimmer around the edges of the house and certain parts of the drainage ditch but I would have to do this with a standard lawnmower regardless. I love that this is one less chore that I must do. I am still hesitant to sell my tried and true Craftsman push mower. I have maybe used it four times this season as I understood the strengths and weaknesses of the X430. Maybe next year, I will finally feel confident selling it but I will make sure to have the contact of a professional lawn service just in case. Just to reiterate, I am glad to tell people about my X430 and the perfectly straight lines that it makes in my yard. I can state enough about the time it saves me in mowing and maintenance. I don’t think I could ever go back to traditional mowing again.

I’ve been using the X430 mower on about a half-acre property, and overall it has exceeded expectations. The cut quality is consistently clean and even, and the setup process was surprisingly straightforward. Once it was mapped and running, it quickly became a true “set it and forget it” solution for routine mowing. Battery life has been solid for my yard size, easily handling regular cycles without needing constant intervention. Obstacle avoidance works well in everyday use—it reliably navigates around trees, garden edges, and typical yard clutter without getting stuck or requiring any rescue. It’s also impressively quiet. It’s quiet enough that I have no issue letting it run at night, which has been a big convenience for keeping the lawn maintained without thinking about scheduling around the day. One thing to keep in mind: like most robotic mowers, it’s not meant for heavy seasonal leaf cleanup. Mulching large volumes of fall leaves isn’t really a realistic expectation, so some light yard maintenance is still needed. So far, reliability has been excellent with no major issues. Overall, I would highly recommend the X430 for anyone with a half-acre to an acre sized yard who is okay doing occasional trimming and edging once a week. It handles the rest of the mowing workload very well and makes lawn maintenance significantly easier.

TITLE: Segway Navimow x430: Don't believe the YouTuber hype, it ruined my lawn I was incredibly disappointed with this product. It stopped functioning correctly after its very first use. Despite all the AI marketing ads and glowing influencer reviews, it performed terribly in real life, was a nightmare to manage, and made my lawn look worse instead of better. CUTTING HEIGHT ISSUES: The height adjuster keeps dropping by itself to the lowest setting without warning. Because it unpredictably drops, it scraped on my concrete walkways and scalped my grass, leaving ugly bald patches all over my lawn. GPS AND MAPPING NIGHTMARE (USELESS FOR SMALL SUBURBAN YARDS): The mower simply cannot maintain a reliable satellite connection. It comes with one receiver in the box, but the mower can't find it. If you live in a crowded neighborhood with nearby houses, fences, or trees, there is so much signal interference that it is practically useless. Realistically, you have to buy and install multiple extra receivers just to get it to work. Because of this, it is entirely unusable for smaller, tightly-packed yards. The software is also incredibly frustrating. You cannot just select a big area on the app and split it in two. If you want to segment or change your yard size, you have to manually drive the mower to that specific side of the yard and trace it out by hand. Worse yet, if you make any minor edits to the boundary shape later, the system forces you to remap the entire yard from scratch. BATTERY AND NAV FAILURES: My entire yard is only 0.23 acres, and only a small fraction of that is actually lawn. Yet, this mower only managed to cover about 10% of that tiny grass area before completely running out of battery. Because it constantly gets lost, loses connection, and has to restart, it spends all its energy trying to figure out what to do next until the battery dies. What little bit it actually managed to cut was completely all over the place and incredibly messy. WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU (HIDDEN COSTS): The "wire-free" setup has a huge catch. It requires a paid subscription for the GPS connection after a 6-month free trial. If you don't want the subscription, you are forced to buy and install multiple receivers all over your yard just to give it a chance of working. REFUND ISSUE: I requested a refund after dealing with all of this, but I still have not received my money back. Save your money and skip this one. It is not ready for prime time. Final Update After working with them for over a month, the app and the mower are finally working and there is less hassle getting the yard mapped. The last headaches were the links that were sent in two separate emails before Google Play Store approved the update. Do not download any links sent via email from Segway as this download will erase all of your maps from the memory of the mower and you will have to remap your yard, which is a hassle if you have a big yard. Their IT department is not the best at knowing ahead of time if these links have glitches in them or how to correct the issues that occur after you have downloaded the link for an early premier of the app update before Google Play Store approves the update. The last thing I discovered with this mower is that it won't mow in areas where there are tall and skinny weeds...it will go around these areas because it sees the weed as an obstacle. Also, thick areas of weeds are an issue for this mower as well. My yard looked like a corn field after it mowed all of the dead weeds, and I had to hand control the mower over these areas to make the yard look better. The mower is working better since I no longer allow the grass to grow taller than three inches and have removed most of the weeds. I'm relieved this nightmare is over and that Segway Navimow has corrected the issues in the app with a new update. ---------- Update to my review which will remain at one star. 4/23/2026, after working with a customer service manager since 3/31/2026, the team has resorted to telling me today that there was a factory reset done to my mower on 4/13/2026. I have not physically done a factory reset to my mower and simply turning the mower off and turning it back on does not reset the mower. If that is the case, we are all in trouble when we shut the mower off to store it for the winter. There were several emails with download links that were sent to me by the customer service manager before the update link was published on Google Play Store. I am convinced one of the links the customer service manager sent me has messed up my app. Now when I click on the app my maps appear on the screen and after the mower connects via Bluetooth, the maps disappear and the screen showing the message no maps appears on the screen. I requested data from Segway because my mower log does not show a factory reset on 4/13/2026, and the report from Segway does not show a factory reset either. Because the tech team can't figure out why the maps disappear after the mower connects via Bluetooth, the customer service manager has informed me that I will have to redo all of my mapping. I have supplied screenshots of every issue involving the app and now I have requested a screenshot from the customer service manager showing the factory reset on my mower since she is indicating that they have a log showing that there was a factory reset done. -------- After I paired this device with Bluetooth in my phone and gave it permission to use my private Wi-Fi network, I experienced a high level of difficulty mapping the yard and getting the mapping saved to the app because instructions will flash for a few seconds while in the app on your phone screen and if you miss them, you will incorrectly map your yard, and it won't save to the app. Some of the tips are out of focus and in bright white lettering that appears on your screen, which is difficult to see. I contacted customer service and the agent was little to no help at all, but full of apologies. You will never receive a call or email from the tech team, but they will relay to the customer service agent that it will take them some time to figure out what is going on with your mower. I sent screen shot after screen shot to the customer service agent and the tech team still couldn't figure out what was causing my issues. On 3/26/2026, I finally saw the messages that had flashed on my screen for a few seconds since 3/23/2026 and finally understood what I was missing. Although, the screen was not in focus, I took a chance and pressed yes to letting the mower choose a path to my charging station when mapping was complete, because there were no options to do this manually on the manual mapping screen even though the customer service agent said the options should be there. As a result, my mapping was finally saved, and the mower did what I wanted it to do. The quick start guide is not useful as it does not give good instructions. You will have to restart the app often as it will not communicate with the mower during setup of mapping or calibration of the charging station, but once the app is able to communicate with the mower, it is smooth sailing from there. If you have a great deal of patience and determination to get this mower to do what you want, you will succeed in getting the mapping saved and get the mower up and running. My mower arrived on 3/23/2026, and I finally got it programmed and mowing by 3/26/2026. I could have had the mower up and running sooner had I not relied on the tech team to sit on their hands and do nothing. The mower mowed neatly and I am pleased with the result. I give one star right now because this device really should have been plug and play and should not have been as difficult as it was to set up and save my mapping. The unfocused screen with bright white lettering added to the difficulty. When I see improvements with the app I will move this review to five stars as the device is really impressive once it is up and running. It is satisfying to see that I was not defeated by the ignorance of the persons responsible for programming the app the way they did and that I succeeded in getting the mower set up and running on my own.

If there is a Tesla FSD of lawnmowers this is it. Smooth, patterned cutting, and an understandable UI. It looks like a small SciFi tank. I am impressed, but I need to mention Brand H, because I used Husqvarna mowers for over 10 years and they liberated me from mowing. Husqvarna is the Nissan Leaf, or perhaps the Ford Bolt of robot mowers. It is rugged, simple and reliable. But it is also crude, slow and tends to leave Mohawks in the grass if you don't run it mor or less continuously. "Husqvarna Control" means slow, randomized cutting inside the wires, like chickens walking around in a pen. We called ours "Mosey" because that's how it mows. RTK looks like it would be an improvement, but the X430 is the only RTK mower I know of that doesn't have dropouts under trees, and near buildings. It offers either WIFI or 4G Internet for GPS correction. The X430 is to robot mowers what self driving, air conditioning, cruise control and wraparound stereo are to cars. I tried two other brands and gave up in disgust because they required antennas with dropouts, were difficult to train and lose signal near trees. For more descriptive material on the X430 you can basically read the manufacturer's ads, because they are pretty accurate. One tip: Ours got confused when passing between a building and two low hanging arborvitae fronds. That was apparently confusing the cameras, because pruning the two lowest fronds solved the problem. Initially I planned on getting a zero turn but decided on this instead thinking it would save money, time & hastle over the zero turn. Here's why it failed: 1. It didn't save money because the zero turn was only $600 more, but I was not able to sell my other mower which would have made up the difference. Why could I not sell it? It won't let you mow more than 1 acre so I couldn't sell my riding more since I needed it to mow the ~0.1 acre this mower wouldn't do. 2. More importantly, you absolutely should not count on having only this mower. If for any reason your grass grows slightly too high (such as when I had several days of rain where it couldn't mow), it will refuse to mow it, meaning you are screwed if you don't have another mower. 3. Related to this, another maddening thing about this mower is if you have any plants in your yard that quickly sends up shoots higher than the grass (over 4 inches or so, such as dandelions and other weeds), it will also refuse to mow it. I have spent an absurd number of hours pulling and poisoning stuff in my yard in what feels like a never ending battle. 4. If the mower is unable to finish a mow job (and you don't want night mowing), it will start mowing at the crack of dawn when the grass is soaked with dew. You have no choice. There is no way to delay it, only cancel and start from scratch. 5. If you want to pause mowing because it is raining (yes, it will keep mowing in the rain even with weather activated, while refusing to mow when it's not if the weather app isn't in sync with your location), it will literally just sit there and lose charge while waiting. You can't send it to charging station to wait. 6. If you don't want the mower to mow wet grass (and have dew in the morning) or at night (the recommended default), this absolutely will NOT finish 1 acre in a day. This is true on perfect grass, but especially so if you have anything that grows slightly too quick and high because it will waste tons of time and energy trying to avoid that vegetation, leaving a mess in the end. 7. I walked this exactly on the perimeter of my grass. It does not cut all the way to the perimeter though, leaving roughly half a foot in from where I walked it. In other words, some of your time saved on mowing will be replaced with edging. In summary, while it has saved time on the whole, much of the time saved was replaced with lots of extra edging and weed control, as well as more time setting it up and maintaining it. Some of this could be fixed with a software update, which I sincerely hope they do. Until then, I cannot recommend this. I gave it 3 stars in hopes they'll fix many of these issues, at which point, I'll give it more stars. If they don't, I'll likely drop it to a 2. Wish I bought the zero turn.
