Description

Matataki is the first Sega Homestar Planetarium which lets the stars twinkle softly while projecting an authentic heaven view into your room. This creates a 3D image effect while projecting the stars at the same time. Matataki has built-in speakers with natural sounds from the sea and the mountains. Enjoy a perfect and romantic vision of the night sky. Fall asleep under twinkling stars with the timer on. While following the original Sega Homestar Planet design the Matataki has its own fresh appearance. Sega Homestar Matataki Features • 10,000 twinkling stars or 60,000 solid stars • Ultra-bright white LED with the power of 3 watt • Speaker with natural sounds for deep sleep • Shooting star • USB cable enabling wall plug or wall plug free power bank operation • Projecting diameter of 106 in • Original Japanese packaging gift box Twinkling is made possible by adding a second disc, the effect plate, under a special star disc. Next you turn on the diurnal motion (rotation) function. After starting the projection your eyes and mind will relax and focus. After a short time, you will see the realistic twinkling effect as if you are watching the stars in the universe from planet earth. This effect gives the projection more depth (3D). Details Project onto high and low ceilings or walls (4'11" to 8'6") Includes: Sega Homestar Matataki Planetarium Star Projector, two star discs (northern hemisphere, northern hemisphere for use with effect plate), effect plate, USB cable & wall plug, manual, box Packaging including projector: 7.5' x 7.5' x 9', 3 lb 11 oz

  • Very cool! Twinkling stars are really great!!
Color: Blue
The media could not be loaded. Once you figure out how to work this unit, it is actually very impressive. I was concerned about the brightness of the light, especially considering that the newer, more expensive flux model has a brighter one, but in the dark it is absolutely fine. I am attaching a still image of one of the two included discs as projected on my ceiling. I am also including a short video showing the stars twinkling with the other included disc and one of the included nature sound effects playing. With the twinkling and the sound effects it.really creates a stunning display! My only complaint is that the manual was entirely in Japanese (use a translation app), and it was a bit tricky to figure out how to go about getting the discs in with the correct side up. Also, please note that the twinkling effect requires that the sky rotation feature be turned on! I’m very happy with it, and would recommend at this price. ... show more

  • Pretty cool
Color: Blue
It's not very bright. Looks great in pitch black. Not like what I thought it would be. You can see the twinkle disk moviing behind the stars when using the southern hemisphere dusk. I think it would be much better if it had a brighter light. Also, it looked better when I projected it on a distant wall rather than the ceiling. Spreads better when projected from a distance. Do I like the product? yes. It's pretty cool when you get the hang of it. Is it worth the price? Yes and no. Should come with more fisk to make it sweeter. ... show more

  • Broke out of the box. No English instructions.
Color: Blue
The instructions are only in Japanese. The item came on for a few seconds and made noises, then went dark and stopped working. Pretty expensive for such complete failure.

  • You MUST buy additional discs, the default ones are terrible
Color: White
It's pretty clear the default disc it ships with is actually meant for its brighter and much more expensive brother the "homestar flux" because in a pitch black room I could barely see it. it looked like a grainy grey strip rather than the Milky Way. HOWEVER I had also bought a separate disc of the Dolphin Nebula and that while not perfect is visible and pleasant, meaning the unit itself is fine and it's just the default disc doesn't really handle well. I do wish it was brighter, but seeing as the Matataki is around $100 USD and the the Flux is around $250 I could literally buy 2 of them and still come out cheaper. ... show more

  • Exactly want I wanted in a planetarium at the time of ordering.
Color: Blue
This is what I wanted to help me sleep at night, and it works exactly the way I wanted. The only thing I wish I had known was that there was a newer model of the Homestar available. I believe the newer model has more star disks available. But, what I have is just fine.

  • Pretty, but dim
Color: Blue
I purchased this one, replacing my old ~$40 star projector, and am a bit disappointed at how less bright and less dynamic it is compared to the cheaper one I had. The twinkling effect was not what I was expecting either. But as others have said, it looks great in complete darkness.
