  • Great travel lens
This is in many ways the worst zoom lens I've owned - but I love it. My other zoom lenses for my S5II and for my DSLR beforehand have all been fixed aperture, which is great and all, but they're so (relatively) heavy (and typically expensive). Can this lens stand up to them optically? Probably not. But it does great pictures for its size, it has great reach, and it makes my mirrorless feel positively portable. So I would recommend it for anyone who travels and is not using their camera professionally. ... show more

  • Small and light, ok sharpness and amazing OIS
For the weight and size, you really can't expect it to compete in sharpness with other larger options. But it is more than sharp enough for my hiking use under daylight. I used to carry the lumix gx9, with the awsome 14-140 lens, and this lens is definitely an upgrade when paired with the S5ii (a lot heavier of course). The OIS allows for high megapixels mode shooting while handheld. Both photos here were taken using high megapixels pixel mode while handheld (at 200mm and 105mm) thanks to the amazing OIS. Not bad at all for this compact size and weight. ... show more

  • Fantastic Outdoor All-in-One Lens
I got this lens specifically for hiking, vacationing, or trips where I want to avoid carrying my pelican case of lenses around with me. This thing does it all. Yes, it's not the fastest lens, but if your subject is outside, or in a well-lit area, there is no reason this lens can't get you the shot you're going for. It's super lightweight, so if using it on a gimble, which I've done, it works splendidly! If not using a gimbal, the dual OIS is stellar. I was able to get shots in the dark of a static subject at 200mm with a 1-2 second exposure, handheld. That's pretty nuts. I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner, simply because of the high price. Instead, first, buy the camera with a 20-60 kit lens with a 1.8 prime. That's an insane combo. If you have more $$, then of course get the 28-200. It's excellent and will cover all your bases, unless trying to shoot at night. A 1.8 prime is your only real option then. If you are trying to use this for professional work, I'd probably look for something else (unless paired with a gimbal), but for everyone else, go for it. You will be shocked at the image quality and even the bokeh it produces for a relatively slow lens. Focus breathing is nonexistent. It's got something for everyone. Just don't expect everything, because a lens like that doesn't exist. This one trades weight for insane reach and speed. If you're okay with that, buy it. Most of all, have fun with it. I am. ... show more
