I have been using Scosche magnetic phone holders for many years now, they are in all of my vehicles. I wanted to add a second mount to my van, and the only place to mount something was over a small vent with a line down the middle of it. I saw this mount and because it was from Scosche I immediately bought it. It does hold my phone, but when I pull my phone up to look at it, the mount comes off with it, and it requires a lot of work to get it in just the right spot to reattach the mount to the vent again. If you have a vent that does not have a separation in the middle, this mount will work fine. Unfortunately this is not the case for me. I will get the mount that has to be attached permanently to the vehicle, like the many others I have, and all will be good. Look at the other types of mounts by Scosche, all of the others have worked fabulously for me! ... show more

    • I love it! Oh, wait....
I took it out of the box and the very first thing I did was stick it to my phone. I already had the little metal plate on the outside of my case because my previous mount was a magnetic mount. I was BLOWN AWAY by how strong the magnets are! Scosche magnetic mounts are the only ones that have FOUR magnets. The rest have only 3, and it makes a difference. I didn't want my Galaxy S20 falling from my rear view mirror and breaking when I hit a speed bump or pothole. These magnets hold my S20 in its heavy duty case without any chance of it falling off. Remember how impressed I am with the strength of these magnets. It'll be important later. Next I brought the mount out to my car - a 2019 Honda Pilot EX. It's a cool car, and has all the bells and even most of the whistles! One of the features is the 4 little buttons on the underside of the mirror which control various things like garage door openers and whatnot. When I put the mount on my mirror and tightened it down, my garage door opened. It took a little time, but I was able to position the mount in such a way that it fit between the buttons and I was able to tighten the vertical part (the back part) of the mount and make it secure. Then I slid the horizontal pieces (top and bottom) in and snugged them to the mirror. I put my phone on the incredibly strong magnets and repositioned the very flexible yet sturdy arm so that my phone stood exactly where I wanted it. Pure perfection! 5 stars! I took my phone out for a drive. We hit speed bumps. We hit potholes. We raced around corners and skidded to a stop. We pressed buttons and spun it around 360 degrees - twice! My phone did not wiggle. My phone did not bounce. My phone did not fall off of the ridiculously strong magnets. I checked the mount and it was still fastened snugly on the mirror. 6 stars! 10 stars!!! I pulled back into my driveway and reached for my phone and pulled it off the mount. No, that's not what happened. I reached for my phone and pulled the mount off the mirror. ??? The phone was in my hand, the mount was still on the phone. Oops! I must be stronger than I thought! I repositioned the mount on the mirror, tightened the vertical part, tightened the horizontal parts, and pulled my phone and the mount off the mirror again. I controlled the vertical, I controlled the horizontal. I made sure they were as tight as could be. Then I VERY CAREFULLY, and with TWO HANDS, gently pried my phone from the unnecessarily strong magnets. The mount stayed where it was, but the horizontal brackets loosened enough so that the mount could easily slide from the mirror. I have since learned to remove my phone with one hand. It's not quick, and it's kind of a pain in the butt to have to work so meticulously when all I really want to do is jump out of the car. Even being so painstakingly gentle, the horizontal brackets came loose. Every time. And needed to be re-tightened. Every time. I am going to try to rig up some kind of a rubber band / ice cream stick / bobby pin solution to this problem, because I REALLY like the way it holds the phone. But I shouldn't have to, so 3 stars. ... show more
