I heard Garnier changed their dye formula and it showed for me, not covering my greys that well, and not lasting very long. I just tried this product after reading reviews. I have still to see if it lasts long, but from the start of it, it has covered my greys very well and my hair feels healthier afterward than w the garnier product (which I’ve been using for years). It was a little darker than I expected but I didn’t mind that. The best thing about this product is it didn’t irritate my scalp at all. I didn’t have major problems w garnier but it would leave my scalp feeling a little dry afterwards and itchy. I would describe my greys as at the roots and more “salt and pepper” type, so not sure if it matters for someone w a lot more, but again, I really felt this product did a good job on mine. ... show more

I absolutely love this color! I bought it on a whim, and I’m so glad I did! It was super easy to use, and turned out great. I know beauticians tend to turn their nose up at box color but I turn my nose up at spending my hard earned money on salon prices for color. My only complaint is the smell!!! My hair stunk for a couple days maybe 3. There’s no way to sugarcoat it….the smell was terrible. Luckily I work from home. After a couple washes it went away. The color came out exactly as on the box. A dark rich chocolate brown with red undertones. At first it appeared dark so I rinsed it a second time right after dying and then it was perfect. My favorite hair color I’ve had on myself. Suits my olive skin really well. And I’ve washed it about 3 weeks worth and it hasn’t faded looks great. It's a good box dye, I've used many different brands before, this has slightly less smell than Revlon, Garnier, and loreal. However I didn't like the conditioner as much, it's a bit watery compared to the other drug store brands. I got medium brown and left it for 30mins, what the instructions said. I'd say the color came out darker, more like black but not jet black. I wish it's a bit more brown, or even dark brown, but it's fine. If I buy this brand again, I'd pick a lighter color now that I know the actual color comes out darker. ... show more

I am not a diva and have minimal knowledge of beauty care and tips. I really liked this product. It was easy to use. This was my first time doing anything like this. Pics were before (with the gray) and after dye. Sorry I was eating an ice cream… it was my birthday! Lol.

I went from blonde to brown. I wanted to go back to my natural color, and for my very first time using a box dye, I was nervous! I picked one that had best reviews on Google. My hair tends to pull red, so the red tint of chestnut brown that I got was already expected. But I'm very happy with this color and coverage. It is darker than planned (see box photo for comparison) but I don't hate it. It smells good too, and my bleach damaged hair (wearing 2+ yrs of blonde) feels healthier right after the initial application of this product and conditioner.
