    • Not perfect for a 2 battery system in a truck
So I bought this for a diesel F-250 which has 2 batteries in parallel so still a 12 volt system. What I found was, if I hooked them both up then the charger would not work properly since it obviously is seeing current from itself. What I ended up doing was disconnecting the positive terminal on one battery and now it works perfectly. I realize that this is not a perfect fix for most people but I drive my truck so seldom, hence the maintainer that for me it is easy enough to put the terminal back on. I recommended it to a friend to maintain his batteries on his boat, seems to be doing well there also. ... show more

The battery clamps are sturdy. You also get a pair of ring terminals that you can attach to the battery, handy for the riding lawn mower. If you have a small boat with a trolling motor you can trickle charge both batteries at once. It's a Schumacher and should last for many years.

    • I hope the second one works...
I purchased the Schumacher SC1410 to maintain/charge a set of 2 boat batteries simultaneously. There are a few 2 bank chargers around and I got the based on the manufacturer name and price. Within 1 week of use, the right bank quit working. I went to Schumacher's web site, follow the protocol to report the failure, and was sent another one in short order. So far so good! It charges slowly at the max 2 amp rate. which is expected. Comes with quick-connect alligator clips and ring adapters. The rings are too small to fit around the posts on my deep cycle marine batteries, though they fit on my lawn mower battery. The clips are well constructed. The tech information seems to indicate that this is not a charger, but a maintainer. Nonetheless, it brings my batteries up to full charge and goes into maintenance mode. Exactly what I want. I opened the box and the charger was used. Wires were a tangled mess. And the back of the charger was all scratched up.
