By far, the best wok I've ever owned. This superbly made Danish wok with it's non-stick surface, retains the heat and stir fries everything to perfection, and cleans in a few seconds. I had a Woll Nowo wok for many years and it is still good. I just want to another Woll wok with lighter weight. It is hard to find Woll cookwares with reasonable prices nowadays. I decided to give Scanpan a try and surprisingly found it is an excellent wok with a reasonable price. It has a good curvature suitable for Asian style stir-fry, heats up nicely and a bit lighter than Woll Nowo wok. The handle is simple but can be easily held without slippery.     • What a great pan!
A while ago, I purchased the Breville wok on Amazon and have really enjoyed using it. I weighs about 200 pounds, however!!! But very smooth cooking surface and I like that it is a free-standing unit. I just purchased the Scan Classic 14 inch wok and also think its just grand! A nice feature is that because of the construction materials you can use metal utensils on it. It does take about 10 minutes to get the oil hot enough to do a proper job, as with the Breville unit, and once you get the hang of it, works like magic. When I first got it however, I was a little skeptical of the very small flat cooking space at the bottom of the pan. but it has really proven an advantage in that the oil does not get pooled in the bottom as much and cooking on the sides of the pan, and is much less greasy as you find in so many contemporary Chinese restaurants. This wok is wonderful because it is so easy to clean. The nonstick surface really works and there are no rivets inside the wok to catch food. Helper handle is convenient too. And it holds a lot of food. Only thing missing is a cover, and I fortunately have a glass cover from another pan that fits it. ... show more

Size: 12.5" Wok
I have several Scanpan skillets that I really like cooking with and this wok was the final purchase to completely replace all of my older "bad" non-stick pans. The wok does take a while longer to heat up than my other Scanpans due to the larger size. Scanpan recommends not cooking on higher than medium heat but I frequently cook on medium/high on my largest gas burner and the pan doesn't appear to be any worse for wear. When cooking with more heat I always use a small amount of sprayed olive oil in the pan which helps distribute the heat and keep the pan from overheating. Clean up of this pan is super easy, I just wait for it to cool off (but pan is still warm) then a quick rinse with soapy water and dry it and it's ready for the next use. 4 stars instead of 5 is that these pans, especially at the lower end of the range, are very expensive for what they are. This wok also does not come with a lid, and a lid from Scanpan is another $30. ... show more

It was a nice wok till the teflon ot whatever coating rhey used started peeling off. Althogh it was advertised as metal safe, I hardly used a metal spatula when cooking with it. Yet, the minimal contact it had with metal scraped the coating. Very disappointed becuaee this is not a cheap nonstick pan

We had been going through 1 or 2 non-stick pans a year. We finally got tired of people working for us scratching them with metalic utensils. So, now we use this one ourselves and use a regular heavy duty stainless still (not not-stick) for nannies/family/baby sitters to use. We have been pretty careful with it and don't use it at high temperature and hand wash with a sponge. It's lasted pretty nicely with some minor cosmetic blemishes but is still fully non-stick. Have not bought a new pan now in 2-3 years. Problem solved. I just wish the different sizes were just as affordable. ... show more
