    • Worth the investment, throw out your $30 wok

For decades we've used cheap non-stick woks found in chinese grocery stores and elsewhere. Never considered there was a real difference for home cooking. But after throwing out yet another wok because of the "non-stick" layer sticking I decided I didnt want to risk the cheap metal anymore. This one cooks on another level. When it gets hot it stays hot. The material conducts heat exponentially better than the cheap ones, allowing you to cook far up the sides still. When the burner is off it retains that heat for a while keeping your dish hot while you prepare the rest of the meal. It's a bit heavier but that is because these woks should be. Buying one for it's light weight is just buying an inferior and potentially dangerous item. This is my first Scanpan and I will upgrade the rest of my cookware to them as well. ... show more

Unless you're a body builder you won't be flipping food in this wok. It is heavy. Any pro wok users like to slide and flip food while cooking, not in this one

This wok is wonderful because it is so easy to clean. The nonstick surface really works and there are no rivets inside the wok to catch food. Helper handle is convenient too. And it holds a lot of food. Only thing missing is a cover, and I fortunately have a glass cover from another pan that fits it. ... show more

We have wanted a Wok or large pan we could use to stir fry and possibly make large sauces. Since I recently purchased the 8 Qt Instapot duo, I decided to get a Wok. We love Scanpan and it was important to me that the wok have a handle and be relatively lightweight. I also wanted it to be stackable in my cabinet, it fits perfectly on top of my deeper pans. Well we absolutely love this and are cooking with less oil except for the popcorn my husband made in it last night! He used a lid from another pan and it worked, LOL ... show more

Its a keeper! I was shopping for a wok for some time, but had a hard time deciding which one to purchase. This wok was recommended by a chef. Great purchase! Exactly as described. No sticking even on high heat (and without oil) for stir-fry and super easy to clean. Weighty, but not too heavy. I have several Scanpan skillets that I really like cooking with and this wok was the final purchase to completely replace all of my older "bad" non-stick pans. The wok does take a while longer to heat up than my other Scanpans due to the larger size. Scanpan recommends not cooking on higher than medium heat but I frequently cook on medium/high on my largest gas burner and the pan doesn't appear to be any worse for wear. When cooking with more heat I always use a small amount of sprayed olive oil in the pan which helps distribute the heat and keep the pan from overheating. Clean up of this pan is super easy, I just wait for it to cool off (but pan is still warm) then a quick rinse with soapy water and dry it and it's ready for the next use. 4 stars instead of 5 is that these pans, especially at the lower end of the range, are very expensive for what they are. This wok also does not come with a lid, and a lid from Scanpan is another $30. ... show more
