This was great for metering out water to my trees in the drought. However after 2 years the waterproofing around the battery compartment leaked, the battery got wet, leaked acid salts out, and the device died. So much for that, good while it lasted.

So I thought I'd give another one of these a try for my garden. I usually dont write reviews but for $25 I expect something that doesnt totally suck. I need to measure the water for watering certain plants so I dont overwater them and so I water other similar plants equal volumes of water. I have tried all of these stupid things on amazon, the orbit ones, the green and black save a drop one, the P3 Int one, the rainwave one. They all break. I figured going the name brand route would get me something that didnt break. But you know what, they are all made by the same company in china! there are all identical and they are all weak plastic. If you install it and turn it on it better not be cold outside or it'll fracture, even in the summer itll sometimes just blow itself apart from the water pressure. if it doesnt blow up initially, youre lucky, but if you whack it on something even remotely hard they will break and erupt. I've had them fracture from laying it down on the side of my raised bed! I want to go another route. I had been looking at the cold water meters that are around $50 but those review are also horrible, saying they limit flow and dont read correctly. I have seen these metal bodied ones for measuring flow of gas and other materials and it seems to have decent reviews, but its $42 also. I may try that instead of these overpriced pieces of garbage. ... show more

I found the flow meter worked well and was accurate but it only lasted about 1 year before the impeller stopped working. I would not buy again.
