This dock looks small, but it is very well made. The padding for the laptop in the slots are firm and thick. Notice how I can even fit my heavy older generation MBP 16 inch in the back slot. Compare to the empty stand in the photo -- that one was too narrow. Well made and recommended.

    • Good stand - but doesn't handle M1 MacBook Pros

So it claims to handle MacBook Pros, however, the widest slot doesn't really fit the 2022 MacBook Pro. I say "doesn't really" because the laptop will just barely fit in the slot, but doesn't reach the bottom. This means that the weight of the laptop is being supported not vertically from the laptop resting on the bottom surface, but rather from horizontal pressure pushing the screen against the base of the laptop. Needless to say, that's not ideal. The stand is solid aluminum but has some plastic inserts in the laptop slots to shield the laptop from the hard aluminum. The plastic insert is actually quite thick. I ultimately made the stand work for me by taking out the plastic insert and using scissors/razor blade to cut away the thickest portions. Now my laptop weight rests vertically on base and still does not touch aluminum. For good measure I then used some electrical tape to keep the plastic inserts in place. I could probably make it a little prettier, however, it works well and looks good enough still. ... show more

Freest quality, but iPad (front) notch is too deep so it’s hard to swipe up to wake the tablet. Added a piece of foam which fixed it. Other than that, love it!

    • Unfit for Cases
Like the design. Unfortunately if your 14” MacBook Pro has a hardshell case it won’t fit in the upper slot. The protective lining is too thick and prevents the Mac from sliding in. If I remove the protective lining the Mac with a case will slide in, but the top edges of the stand then look unfinished & unrefined. Satechi should provide alternate linings or different models with modified slot widths. ... show more

    • Clearly a half-baked design
It's actually a good idea to have a MacBook Pro upright. The harder rubber material wraps around the back tray to cradle the MacBook Pro. However the front tray only has the rubber material on the top of the back and also it doesn't wrap around the front. When I set my iPad and iPhone to the front tray, I accidentally scratched my iPad. This is not a great design. ... show more
