  • Not a good idea for any important files or mission-critical data
Size: 128GB
We purchased about 20 of these SanDisk drives over the past three years, and about half of them have failed. I purchased again in October 2017 thinking SanDisk had fixed these problems, but the newest drives I've received also have failed. Either I get a "you must format the drive" while browsing files, or the contents just randomly disappear and the drives are inaccessible unless unplugged and replugged, and the same failures occur yet again. Overall I am disappointed with the purchases and have had to spend a significant amount of time and money replacing these drives with our clients. We have had much better luck with PNY drives, but even with spotty failures there I am switching over to 500 GB Toshiba portable hard drives, as it appears flash drive technology above 32-64 GB is simply not dependable yet. ... show more

  • 32GB labeled as 128GB
Size: 128GB
Extremely disappointed. I received this flash drive and had been using it to upload pictures over the last week. I was shocked to receive an error message that the drive was full and only had 31.9GB of total space. I double checked the back where the details are printed and it does say it's a 128GB drive, not a 32GB drive. I'm way past my window of return as I didn't start using it until recently and only checked upon receipt that it worked. I never expected that I would have to make sure that SanDisk was actually selling me the size I paid for and not a smaller one disguised as 128GB. This really sours me on SanDisk products. After owning 5 other SanDisk drives over the past years and not having any trouble with them, I thought they were a reliable product. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY. FAKE ITEM
Size: 128GB
I attempted to put 36.8gb of photos and videos in it but it said there wasn't enough space available. I was however able to fit 29.8gb. It is most likely a 32gb with the outside showing 128gb and the computer reading 128. However, when you try to use more than the 32 you get an error. Crazy how amazon allows this. ... show more

  • Big enough for archives, small enough for a drawer.
Size: 256GB
I bought two 256GB drives to archive photos and videos. Flash drives are ideal for this purpose because they are small, convenient, inexpensive, reliable, and have plenty of memory for thousands of photos, etc. I purchased USB 2.0 drives instead of USB 3.0 because my computer’s output has 2.0 only. You can check which you have on your MAC, for example: apple/about this mac/system report/USB. Two things to keep in mind: 1) Although read speed is decent, write speed is VERY slow. If you intend to write files to the drive often, you might be better off getting a stand-alone external hard drive instead. For archive use, write speed shouldn't present a problem. 2) If you are going to load individual files larger than 4GB, you need to reformat the drive first. Formatting is a fairly simple process, I found instructions for doing so via Google. After formatting, the large files load with no problem. NOTE: format BEFORE you start loading any files, because all data is erased in the process. ... show more

  • It is tooooooo slow! Do NOT buy it.
Size: 256GB
I bought 256 GB, It is tooooooo slow! Do NOT buy it. I have another 128 GB from the same brand bought it last year, it works fine, I could not figure out why this 256 GB is too slow to the extent I found it unusable.

  • Less Than 10mb/s Write Speed
Size: 128GB
Super slow write speed; When saving a 72 gigabyte .zip file to this flash drive it was transferring at around 5 mb/s and it said it would take 5 hours 30 minutes to transfer. My computer supports USB 2.0 and in Windows 7, Device Settings I changed the setting to Performance [That did not increase the transfer speed]. Make sure you research what the Read and Write Speed is for any flash drive you buy. I recommend the Patriot Supersonic Rage 2 [400mb/s read, 200 mb/s write] or Magnum 2 [400mb/s read, 300mb/s write] USB 3.1 [which are backwards compatible to USB 2.0]. ... show more

  • Hardware design fault -- past and present!
Size: 128GB
I just got off the phone with SanDisk Tech Support, and I can say that I will NEVER purchase another device from this company! My 2015 SanDisk Cruzer 128GB randomly acquired the "write protected" fault this week, and now it cannot be read from, written to, formatted, or fixed. I tried all of the applicable online solutions which work with most other USB drives that may have this problem, all to no avail. Then I found a KB article on Sandisk's own website stating that sometimes the drive will go into "write protect" mode, and when it does there is no way to bring it back. (Link removed to comply with Amazon review guidelines.) THERE IS NO FIX! AND THEY ADMIT IT'S THE FAULT OF THEIR PRODUCT! And yet... because there is only a 3-year manufacturer's warranty, the company refused to service or replace my device. They offered me a 25% credit on their online store, instead. What an insult! Why on earth would I want another intrinsically flawed stick?! The fact is that warranties aren't relevant when you're talking about known defects. That's what recalls are for. But in SanDisk's case, they are continuing to sell the drives with built-in faults. Reviews will show other people currently having the problem on new drives as well as aged ones like mine. It's simply a time bomb -- maybe you get months of use, maybe years. This has been an issue, and will continue to be one. Combine this with the problems I've had with other SanDisk models in the past, and I'll take my business far, far away from this rubbish company. You too, have a lot of choices in the USB Flash Media marketplace, and I recommend you do the same. ... show more

  • Another failure for the review section.. Avoid using this device for important data.
Size: 256GB
Connected, backed up, and verified in June, when purchased. Went to access last week, and the same computer can't see it. Tried reboot, different computers, different USB slots, nothing. Waste of money. Most reviewers have no problems, but seeing the increasing negative reviews, there seems to be a trend I wouldn't trust this device with essential data. There are enough failures listed here to give you pause. And at $56, with no hope of an exchange, my advice is try another product. Why roll the dice? ... show more
