I use this attached to my key ring. It is small and rugged, with the USB C end protected. I have divided the drive into two, one section for my Mac, the other for Mac/Windows. Overall, I'm very pleased with this. I got it to act as Time Machine Backup for my MacBook Air and it executed that quickly and efficiently. I did not notice overheating. Did it get warm? Yeah, but that's to be expected. It transferred about 70GB for the backup. I didn't time it, but it was definitely under 15 minutes (I started the backup and ended up doing chores while that was going on). Small USB devices like this are meant to be used for backup or file transfer. They aren't meant to play media and might be prone to overheating under constant use either watching video or working with a processor intensive file. I find the plastic construction a neutral. The cover seems to stay in the closed position, but again, I'm not putting this on my keychain or carrying it around with me. Pros: Small (it's narrow enough it doesn't block the second closely space USB-C plug on the MacBook) Plug and Play (MacOS automatically formatted it for Time Machine in a matter of seconds) Fast transfer on USB-C Cons: Small (easier to lose) USB-A is a female fitting (you need a cable to plug it into a USB slot - which may be why some folks have poor performance, their cable may not be USB 3.0/3.1 rated). I will be upgrading to a new PC soon and the newer PCs have more USB-C ports and fewer USB-A ports so I needed a flash drive that would work on the newer PC and also work on my current PC that only has USB-A ports. I know that I could get an adapter but would prefer not to. This flash drive has both the A & C connectors and of course conforms to the USB 3 standard which is a lot faster that the USB 2 standard. The flash drive pivots to expose either the A or C connectors as desired. This flash drive has a very small form factor which is a real plus if you have USB ports next to each other as almost all PCs do. Other flash drives are usually in a larger case which on my PC prevents connecting to flash drives to the same side of the PC at the same time. With this flash drive I can have two connected at the same time. I was only able to get a transfer rate of ~60 MB/s although the drive advertises a rate up to 150 MB/s although this is probably due to my PC port speed. The pivot mechanism appears to be a bit flimsy so this is probably not the type of flash drive you want to carry around in your pocket. A cap for the exposed connector to keep pocket lint from getting into the connector would have been handy. ... show more

    • Sturdy and Survived Damage

Excellent because it fits both ways: USB-C and regular USB, so that cuts down on toting around adapters. More importantly, have had soooo much trouble in the past with these types of storage/thumb/flash drives being finicky and just stop working or just stop being read by my MacBook or device. This one was great, still worked even if I managed to unplug it without properly ejecting - could also be software on my devices, but either way, this has performed flawlessly. Worked so well I grew lazy and complacent and was using this as my main work space - as opposed to backup - and then managed to bend and almost shatter it today. The USB-C part was visibly at an angle and even the plastic around the little socket part was bent and kind of ripped, too. Completely panicked because of course I hadn’t backed this one up in weeks. Got home, used the regular USB side to access my laptop, tried to bend back the other side since it looked crooked and was kind of jutting out, and lo and behold, I was able to access my files. Was incredible that the rest of the drive wasn’t damaged. Backed up everything. All files are readable. Now I’m ordering a replacement. Cannot sing it’s praises enough - saved my biscuit today. And I will get into the habit of backing up more often! ... show more

Once SanDisk App is installed the drive works seamlessly and offers options of copying, moving or deleting files and other apps on the phone. Very fast. One gripe is the construction material is made of thin plastic, especially on the USB-A side, which does not seem to be all that durable.
