  • Great addition to my PC
Capacity: 500GB
Impressed with the Samsung 870 EVO SSD! The build quality is exceptional—the device feels solid and well-constructed straight out of the box, with a professional finish that inspires confidence. Installing it was a breeze; the standard 2.5-inch form factor and SATA interface made the upgrade process simple and quick, even for someone with basic tech skills. Performance-wise, the functionality is top-tier. Boot times and file transfers are dramatically faster compared to traditional hard drives, and the SSD operates quietly with minimal heat and power consumption. The Samsung Magician software adds to the experience by making it easy to monitor the drive’s health and optimize performance when needed. ... show more

  • Quick and really easy to install
Capacity: 1TB
Great value. Form, Fit, Function are all exceptional. Used to add third OS (Linux) to PC. Good speed, and inexpensive. Took less than 15 minutes to install the drive, less than 30 minutes to install the OS. SO different from drives in the late 1990s and 2000s!

  • Great Product
Capacity: 1TB
First off I’ll start by saying the package was revived on time and in good condition. This is a great hard drive. I’m using it in my gaming computer. There aren’t really any cons to this product. It’s a good amount of storage for what I’m using it for, it works fast, is reliable and is a SSD. Overall a great product and good value for the money. ... show more

  • Fantastic Fix for Slow Laptop!
Capacity: 1TB
This was a great way to extend and improve the operation of our older laptop. We are in our mid 70's with minimal computer experience so we asked our family consultant... Our PhD grandson suggested this fix and it solved our problems. We have a 6 year old laptop that was getting slower and slower to start up, and run especially after updating. Defragging helped a bit as did deleting stuff. These only helped for a while. My grandson explained that the disc on the laptop gets worn and doesn't work effectively after time. Replacing it with a solid state device (SSD) eliminates that problem. Now this computer works like new again. The startup went from 15 minutes to 3 seconds! We also got the USB connecting wire to copy all data from the disc to the SSD before opening the laptop and removing the disc and replacing it with the new SSD. The device comes with instructions, and onscreen assistance but for understanding of how to switch the devices we looked on YouTube under our specific computer on how to replace the device. Ours was just unscrew access plate on the bottom... Remove disc and slide in SSD. ... show more

  • Works great!
Capacity: 1TB
It works good however I have an odd problem bot related to the SSD. When I cloned the drive and changed the boot order in the BUOS everything was fine. Then to tell which was the old HDD I disconnected the old HDD and booted from SSD. All of the sudden in file explorer the drive shows up a drive F:/ not C:/ and has baquestion mark next to it. In disk utility it shows both drives as the SSD being C:/ and the HDD being E:/. However in file explorer it does not recognize the HDD at all and the SSD (drive F:/) has a question mark next to it and I can't seem to get it changed or access files. Both drives are not corrupted as the computer boots fine from both the HDD and the SSD. I should have just used disk utility to figure out which drive was which when I was going to format the old HDD. Know I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get this fixed. 20 command lines later and changes in partitions and the boot order and UEFI or Legacy and still no results. I'm going to have to call a professional. But the SSD itself is excellent, computer boots in 5 seconds couldn't be happier. It's just the file explorer problem that angers me because if I wanted to access program files for example I wouldn't be able to. Everything else like I said is fine. Can download, surf the web, run applications, no problem.... ... show more

  • The 870 EVO: The 4TB Unit Is An Excellent Drive For The Money
Capacity: 4TB
Storage costs have been dropping recently and I was able to get my 4T unit for about 5.7 cents per GB. Not bad. Before users run out to buy they should be careful to not buy from questionable sources .. sources offering an unusually low price point. The reason being is they may be trying to off-load older 870 EVOs (02/2022 to 11/2022) with flawed firmware. These drives are in my view essentially junk and should be avoided. The firmware version that appears most readily is "SVT0B6Q". That out of the way, the 870 EVO is a great drive. I'm still running 840s, 850s and 860s and NONE of them have failed. Several purchasers have noted difficulty getting Samsung drives to properly authenticate their serial numbers, register as "genuine" or fully function with Samsung Magician (diagnostics, performance and Rapid Mode). What they may not be informing readers is that they are likely trying to utilize the drive from an either an external drive enclosure or a drive "strapping" device/adapter. The Samsungs (none .. including 840, 850, 860) will not fully register in those circumstances if the adapter's controller is NOT an Intel controller. Micron-based controllers are (e.g.) ubiquitous in any number or adapters or "straps" and Samsung SSDs will not fully register in those devices. That being said, adapters or "straps" are still perfectly fine for formatting (only) the drive. Adapters will (also) be unable to perform "Over-Provisioning". The drive will need to be internally installed to the PC (unless adapter has an Intel controller). Once installed, the drive will fully register and become available for all the Samsung Magician operability options. Later this year, I will be purchasing a second 4T unit to replace the #1 storage drive in my file server. Previously running WD "Red" magnetic drives, the 870 Evo consistently writes at 540 MB per second vrs the WD at 160. Since I don't game, faster backup speeds don't require ultra-high PCIe speeds for large file storage which I routinely do when taking multiple back-up images from the various PCs in the home office. Of note, I've had flawless SSD image performance with both Macrium and Acronis TrueImage (all paid versions) in the past. Other than improved time for large file backups, the SSDs also run about fifteen degrees cooler and use anywhere from 55-80% less power depending on state of use (running vs idle). For those looking to squeeze every year of use from an aging power supply, lower power demand likely translates to longer PSU life. I will eventually retain a single magnetic drive in the server but adding a #2 data storage 4TB 870 Evo makes good sense and will help me realize an additional 5-7 years of server life. In that regard, my goal is to get about twelve years before I do another rebuild. My form factor is mITX for those that wondered. You'll get great service from this drive and the price-point low is enough to get most off the fence for the upgrade. The very best of days to all. ... show more
