  • Excellent - does the job with the minimum of fuss.
I bought this to replace an earlier 5 A charger for just LiFePO4 batteries that I use for camping with portable solar panels, that only lasted for about 5 weeks before it died, and that cost only $5 less than this one. The seller did not provide a refund, but a replacement unit which I won't be using again. I had requested a full refund. No voltage or % charge readout on that earlier one - just a red and green led to monitor the charging process. I thought I could get by with a bare minimum, cheap charger, but it let me down. It's useful to have a charger in addition to solar panels for recharging the LFP battery - at night, for example, at home, before you leave to go camping. This 6 A Sailnovo charger looked to be the best available replacement/upgrade to that earlier one for the cost, and in addition, it charges both 6 V and 12 V lead acid batteries as well as 12 V LiFePO4. I connected it to my 50 Ah LiFePO4 battery via the SAE connector (the LFP battery has attached ring terminals with 15 A fuse to SAE connector in addition to the connector to the solar panel charge controller and thicker cables to a 500 W inverter for powering the various 120 V camping utensils for cooking, cooling etc), and the charger automatically selected the LFP option on the display screen and 13.3 V - no need to press the Mode button to select the battery type. I then plugged the charger into 120 V outlet and the state of charge of the LFP battery was displayed during charging - between 3 and 4 out of 5 bars (60 - 80 % charged) - so that told me the earlier charger had crapped out even before completing the previous charge attempt. The voltage display on the Sailnovo is helpful to get a sense of battery health, along with the approximate % of the battery charge state. I'd recommend spending the extra money to get a charger that provides both a voltage reading and a state of charge on the display - many chargers do not, and cost more than this one. After about 30 minutes it was showing 4 - 5 bars and 13.8 V, so the charging was working as expected. About an hour later it was putting out 13.9 V. After about 2.5 hours it was showing 5 bars on the display and 'FUL'. I unplugged the charger from the 120 V supply, and the display read 13.5 V. I then disconnected the SAE to the LFP battery. Job completed with no fuss and with the bonus of useful information of the charging process - I like to keep an eye on this stuff while it's on-going, for my own peace of mind. The unit seems quite robust and solid, very easy to use, and for $40, great value for money. I just hope it lasts for a few years rather than a few weeks. In the instructions, it says you can also use it for a 12 V battery maintainer for various vehicles and for battery reconditioning, as well as a steady 12 V 6 A supply - all selectable via the Mode function button. Most of the other chargers of 6 A or higher current had only clamps available for connecting to the battery. I wanted one with the SAE connector like many 12 V battery maintainers have (and this one comes with well-insulated battery clamps and ring connectors with 15 A fuse to SAE connectors). For the money and versatility, highly recommended. I cannot assess longevity and reliability at this point, but the unit feels solid and reliable. If you're also shopping for various camping cooking and refrigeration aids and want to move away from using gas for those, it's an interesting exercise to see if you can get by with just a 100 W portable solar panel and solar charge control unit, 50 Ah LFP battery, a 500 W inverter and all the plug-in devices using either 12 V (from solar charge control unit for compressor fridge) or 120 V via the inverter (for cooking, etc) and rated at 500 W maximum or preferably less. You may wish/need to include a battery charger as part of this set-up - I cannot rely on just solar panels to recharge the LFP battery on a cloudy day - back-up options needed. You can always scale up if you need more power and add a larger inverter, but that's added space, extra weight and extra cost. I set a self-imposed limit of everything under 500 Watts. For that scale of operation, this 6 A charger is the ideal size, and Sailnovo also offer 4 A and 10 A versions - so the 10 A charger might be preferable for a larger set-up and/or 100, 150, 200 Ah LFP battery and/or 200, 300 Watt portable solar panels, 1000 W inverter, etc. 4 A would work well with batteries less than 50 Ah capacity. ... show more

  • **(UPDATED)** Cheap insurance for lead-acid… but think twice for lithium
Model: 1A
After posting my original review, the seller reached out and refunded my money, which I do appreciate. That shows they were willing to stand behind the purchase and handle the complaint fairly. That said, I still do not feel this is a 5-star product based on my original concern. The charger does appear to work for basic lead-acid/AGM-style use, and I have kept it around for non-lithium batteries and smaller equipment. For that purpose, it seems to do the job. My concern remains with the advertised LiFePO4 compatibility. In my testing, it did not charge to the listed 14.6V specification, and the instructions include enough lithium battery warnings that I personally would not trust it as a primary long-term charger/maintainer for an expensive LiFePO4 battery. A battery having a BMS does not automatically mean the charger is the right tool for full-time lithium maintenance. So, credit where it is due: customer service handled the issue well and refunded me. But the product itself still does not fully earn 5 stars in my opinion. I would consider it useful as a low-cost basic charger for non-lithium batteries, but I would still be cautious using it for LiFePO4. Refund appreciated, but honest reviews still matter. **** I picked this up as a basic maintenance charger, nothing fancy—mainly because the price was very low. One of the selling points was that it listed LiFePO4 compatibility with a 14.6V charge spec, which caught my attention. After reading the instructions more closely, I started to have some concerns. There are several warnings about lithium batteries, and it clearly states the battery must have a built-in BMS. Mine does—but the manufacturer of my battery also notes that the BMS is not designed to act as a full-time management system for trickle charging, which raised a red flag. In testing, the charger did work—it went from flashing to steady green overnight and brought the battery up to about 13.8V before shutting off. However, it never reached the advertised 14.6V, which makes me question how well it’s actually charging a LiFePO4 battery. Because of that, I don’t have much confidence using this on a more expensive lithium battery long-term. It may be fine for lead-acid or AGM batteries as intended, but I’m hesitant to rely on it for lithium. For the price, I’ll probably keep it around for smaller toys or equipment that don’t use lithium batteries—but I wouldn’t trust it as a primary charger for LiFePO4. ... show more

Great little charger. SAE connector is a big plus, and alligator clips makes it usable on anything. Works great on the LifePo4 battery on one of my motorcycles. Other batteries I have are AGM and Lead-Acid types, works perfectly on those as well. Straight-forward interface and the LCD screen is easy to read. ... show more

  • Sailnovo 4A Battery Charger,6V and 12V Automotive Smart Car Battery Charger,Battery Maintai
Model: 4A
I have only used this once and I was impressed with the features, my car monitor's the voltage in the battery and with cold weather the heated seats draw a lot of current and when the battery begins to get low the radio will stop playing as soon as you turn off the engine and my information display tell me that the radio stopped to save the battery. I charged the battery one night and when I checked it the next morning it said full charge and with this, I can extend the life of my battery. I have some smaller battery maintainers that I use on my lawn mower and four-wheeler, and I get around five years out of a battery that is only guaranteed for six months. I like this charger so much I might just order another one. ... show more

Works great. I put a LiFePO4 battery in my motorcycle and wired the quick connect to the battery for long-term maintenance. It's also been great for my other batteries on toys and vehicles.
