  • Well built
This is an interesting product. It comes well packed in a plain brown but labled box and secured with styrofoam. Interestingly, it manages to double-purpose the styrofoam: If you have to keep the incubator in a colder room, you can use the styrofoam to increase the insulation and help keep the eggs at the proper temperature. It comes preset for chicken eggs. The build is logical and well laid out. Controls are easy to use. It has timers to keep you on track for when hatching is to occur, and guides for chickens, ducks, geese, and quail. The candler works, as does the egg turning, heating, and hydrometer functions. Having talked with others who raise birds, they had a high failure rate with their incubators for quail, but this incubator identifies a potential issue quite easily - Quail require slightly higher temperatures for hatching than chickens, and if their incubators didn't allow their temperature to be changed, or if they failed to do so... Sadly, my deal for fertilized chicken eggs fell through, and I ended up with hatchlings instead. I'll have to wait for my chickens to grow up and start laying before I can actually use this. ... show more

  • Total game changer!
There are so many features that I absolutely love about this incubator! I have a lot of other incubators but this is probably my new favorite! I have some chicken eggs in a different incubator but I have some duck eggs coming in about 2 weeks and needed another incubator for those! I am so excited that I went with this one! Not only does it have your basic humidity level, temperature, and automatic egg turning as well as Candler, but it also displays in Fahrenheit and shows you the hatch days as well which is super nice! The display is super clear and easy to read as well. The buttons are self-explanatory. If you did have any questions it does come with a nice manual that's super easy to read and understand. I love that the lid is clear so you can watch the eggs when they hatch easily and have a full 360° view! This is the perfect size as I only had 10 duck eggs coming and this will hold up to 18 eggs! I have already been testing this out for a week and it has held its temperature and humidity level perfectly every single day even through the night! I have no doubts that this will be it amazing bonus to our incubator family! The quality is also absolutely out of this world! Very sturdy and made from durable materials as well! Definitely lightweight enough to maneuver but also has some weight to it. So it's definitely not made of cheap lightweight breakable plastic. Definitely super excited about this find! And the price for all the features is absolutely out of this world! Definitely worth every penny! If you are looking for a good 18 egg incubator do not hesitate with this one! It is really all that and a bag of chips! ... show more

  • Cruising for Chicks
Living in a rural area, we keep a flock of about a dozen chickens. Unfortunately, due primarily to predation, they need to be replaced periodically. Normally, we wait for the local Tractor Supply to get their supply (yes, in the country we go to Tractor Supply to pick up chicks). However, we have been wanting to try letting some of our eggs hatch and doing our own replacements. This incubator is a fair bit cheaper than others that I have seen, yet it still has features such as automatic turning of the eggs. It holds temperature well, but it struggles to keep the humidity constant. The egg turning feature works ok (sometimes it just pushes the eggs along the bottom without actually rotating them. In our experiment we got 4 chicks out of 6 eggs we attempted to incubate. If you just need to hatch a few chicks, here and there, then this is a pretty good buy. If you assume a margin of error on the order of 20% - 30%, then you should be just fine. If, however, you need a large batch of chicks on a more consistent basis, then you might want to pay a bit more money to get a higher quality incubator. ... show more

  • Straightforward, pleasant, and reassuring to use
Love this incubator! Everything is so simple to use. Waiting for chicks to hatch is exciting but also so so stressful at times. There are so many ways it can go wrong and your incubator acting funny or being difficult to understand does not help. This one is great! The temp controls seem accurate (compared to a second admittedly cheap temp/humidistat probe I put in there). The turning mechanism is reliable. You get a really clear view. The temp is in Fahrenheit!! Not so sound like a dumb American but it's just so much easier not to have to do another step to make sure your math is right when you're reading different temps for different stages (especially for ducks which are more finicky with both the temp and humidity than chicken eggs). The only thing this one lacks is automatic humidity control but that's rare and a tall order as far as features and price. It IS a lot easier to manually balance the humidity than some incubators I've tried since (a) you don't need to open the lid and (b) you add exactly as much water as you want, rather than it drip on its own from an upside down bottle. At first it's trial and error but after about a week you can predict the amount of water needed pretty accurately assuming the other conditions in your space are consistent. I love the large clear dome, great for observing the hatch process and the first day(s) of chicks drying off and getting their footing. ... show more

  • Awesome!!!
We have been through a lot of incubators in our time. This one is towards the top of the list for me. It is super easy to use and keeps temperature and humidity very well. Very rarely do you have to add more water during the incubation. I’ve had great hat rates with this incubator. to boot, it is great for kids because they love to be able to see everything happening! ... show more
