I was looking for a simple, elegant trash/recycling combo can, and I discovered there aren't too many options out there. I went with this one because it's the right size, and would fit well where I need it beside my desk. It's not fancy, but it works. I like the latching, but it easy for them to get out of alignment. My biggest criticism is that it is over-priced. Of course, with few options out there, it's a sellers market. I also find the plastic not to be the sturdiest. The media could not be loaded. The individual cans are small, but if you use them to separate food wrappers from plastic bottles, and then later, put them in a larger container, I found them very useful for that purpose.

This item is great, there is only ONE PROBLEM and it's mentioned in MANY reviews. The manufacturer needs to put something in the packaging to keep the two units from becoming stuck together because they are ANNOYING to separate! We used the warm water method, but it took time and patience. The solution is simple for the manufacturer: PUT SOME BUBBLE WRAP OR CARDBOARD BETWEEN THE TWO TRASH CANS BEFORE YOU PUT THEM IN A BOX! With the urgency to recycle and prevalence of plastic and aluminum cans, I had been looking for something to allow me to sort my rubbish as I went instead of doing so after the fact, which was just an all around unpleasant task. This is perfect for the job. My one reason for not giving 5 stars is that other people mention, if you want to pick up and carry the two bins together, you need to use a binder clip or some other work around.
