Rustic Charm Meets Functionality – A Stunning Barn Door Upgrade!
The S&Z TOPHAND 36” x 84” British Brace Knotty Barn Door with sliding hardware is everything I hoped for and more. From the moment it arrived, I could tell this was a solid, high-quality piece of craftsmanship. The knotty wood gives it that authentic farmhouse charm, while the British brace design adds a timeless rustic touch. Assembly was straightforward and easy to manage, and the included 6.6FT sliding hardware kit made installation a breeze. Once installed, the door glides smoothly and quietly, instantly transforming the room with a modern farmhouse feel. I also love that it comes unfinished, giving you the freedom to stain or paint it to match your space perfectly. Whether you leave it natural for a rustic look or finish it for a more polished style, it’s incredibly versatile. If you’ve been looking for a way to add character and functionality to your home, this barn door is a show-stopping statement piece that delivers both charm and durability.

Love it!
The media could not be loaded. We recently bought a new house that had stairs with a built in gate but out two year old figured it out fast and it became a safety hazard. We bought this to help prevent accidents. It was easy to put together. With out air vent we had to put a two by four under the top railing so it would not affect our air flow. It is super durable. Has the roller wheel to keep from pulling away from the wall at the bottoms and has two stoppers at the top railing but we only needed one for our placement. We did order and lock to prevent them from opening it themselves but we absolutely love this! It is smooth when moving and we love the look with our house. It is a thicker door like an actual barn door. Directions were easy to use when putting together! We love this door so much! Also gives us as parents a great peace of mind when it comes to stair safety with our little ones.

Surprisingly good
I ordered this door kit with low expectations but was surprised with the quality. One thing that is important to know, the way the door is packaged, it is set up to be used on a flat wall with no door trim around the opening. I wondered about this fact before placing the order but found no reference to the measurements of clearance from the wall. I needed this door for a bath / laundry room. I could have mounted the door rail on a piece of 3/4" wood but the hardware would have made a gap of about 1.25" off the wall. I only wanted a .25 gap from my doorway trim to the barn door. I achieved what I was shooting for with many hours of work. Tips for the build. Use glue and clamp the stiles to make sure they are tight before putting the 3" screws into the factory holes Sand the center panel pieces with 220 before assembly. If you want a close fit like I have, you will need to cut the bolts that attach the hanger rollers to the door after drilling (the inside of the door) deep enough to counter sink the inside bolts. I used big washers (spray painted black) as shims behind the rail mounts on the wall, this helped the barn door clear the trim when closed. Door was sanded with 220 after assembly and between waterbased clear coat. The inside plate of the handle set, sits on the surface, so if you want a tight gap, you will need to make a counter sink slot (about 1/4" deep and the size of the inside plate) and cut the 8mm screws down appropriately 1/4" so the handle would be tight on the front. I also added soft close actuators so the door will not jump or slam during use. Also found on Amazon for about $25. Door was rough and had some minor tearout in the center panel dados, but pieces where fairly straight. I made sure to assemble the door pieces as soon as possible to reduce chance of warping. So far the door is relatively flat and straight. Rail is one piece and rollers move smoothly on the rail. The brackets for the rollers were wide upon arrival. I had to use a large c clamp to pull them closer and tighten the axle bolts. Otherwise they scraped the walls and did not move on the rail. Overall I'm pleased with this barn door kit.

Well Made-Quality-Value.
The overall quality of this product and the value it represents are both outstanding. The hardware is excellent. The customer service for replacement or missing small parts is outstanding. Humans answer the phone and promptly send out parts requested. I recommend it, and would purchase it again, but buyers should be aware of some realities. To assemble the door and properly attach the hardware on solid backed lumber (header or studs) is essential, and it takes far more than the 30 minutes the installation manual claims. Use at least a two foot level to ensure the rail is perfectly level and firmly bolted to solid substrate. The door is heavy. Get help in moving it from where it’s being assembled to hanging it on the rail. The instructions are imperfect, unclear and can lead to frustration. Triple check measurements provided. The final result is really quite beautiful. Take your time.
