  • Strongly recommend!
This thing is amazing! I have to trim the palm tree in our front yard once a year and it just keeps getting taller. The old saw on a pole that I have been using for years made it a half day job. With this new Ryobi saw it took me less than an hour and looks so much better! One 18v battery was more than enough and once I had figured out a good technique the job was a breeze. • Safe, Effective Trail Clearing Tool
I help keep the riding and hiking trails clear in the State Park adjacent to my small farm. The invasive Autumn Olives grow so quickly that within a single season they are encroaching on the trails. Even the strongest power loppers weren’t up to the job—I’d already broken several—so I needed something more powerful. With good reason, I’m afraid of chainsaws but a pole saw seemed like a good option. It took me over a year to get up the courage to use this pole saw, but now I love it! As a smallish older person without much upper body strength, I was able to handle the tool safely by myself. I made exhilarating progress without draining the battery entirely. Warning: make sure you wear full protective gear not only for your hands, face and head but for your arms and legs as well. Invest in a pair of chainsaw chaps before using this tool. If you already have other Ryobi One system tools, this pole saw will be a great addition to your arsenal. ... show more

  • Works well, and nice reach
I'm a big fan of the One+ system due to the huge variety of tools available and how well they have all performed for me. I upgraded to this from a B&D polesaw, 18v, that is about 12 years old because I didn't want to drop more money on batteries. I like this unit how the head is sitting at an angle; coming from a previous straight saw, this adds HUGE amounts of cutting versatility and ease. A straight saw makes it impossible to cut stuff directly overhead because the weight of the branches dropping will pinch the blade/chain. This unit helps prevent that (still possible if you are ignorant) making the advertised reach actually usable. It also reduces your dependance to need a ladder. The oiler mechanism isn't very good...however my old saw had no oiler and you simply had to manually squirt some oil on the chain every few minutes worth of cutting. So from that perspective, this is certainly an upgrade except for the leaking everywhere and dripping down the pole making a mess. Lastly, being part of the One+ system, this is cheaper to purchase and operate because I already have battery packs and chargers, and versatility with battery pack sizes. Very pleased with this purchase. I also purchased 2x "replacement" extension shafts from a ryobi parts dealer to give me additional reach. While the unit certainly is capable of pushing voltage the extra 6 feet, the unit becomes too wobbly / unstable to position and actually use. One additional extension is doable, so I can trim stuff about 15' high before needing a ladder. ... show more

  • Works great
I only used it to cut down one giant tree I had so I cant speak to how much use this thing can take over time, but after the tree I did this thing still ran like new. It didn't use up batteries as fast as I thought it would, and the bar was enough to cut any of the branches I came across. Since I will likely never use it again, I appreciate how it comes apart in sections so I can store it away without taking up valuable room. ... show more

  • Flimsy
With or without the intermediate section installed, the working end deflects about an inch. I think I received a refurished one. It was delivered in a plain cardboard box with no packing materials. The box on one end was open and a wrench was missing. It was sold with no battery or charger, but the instructions indicated that it had one of each. I think that perhaps the seller bought it and sold the tool and the battery/charger separately. Being refurished, would be even more profit. The delivery was late and it prevented my help from being there when I had scheduled the job. I requested the $16.55 charge to be refunded and the seller promptly acted on my request. If it had been free shipping. I have physical problems, so it took a great deal of effort and it took days to trim two pine trees up to about nine feet off the ground. It took about 40 minutes and it caused me to be thoroughly exhausted. It took two more days to drag the branches about 50 feet. I am going to loosen the gray parts that looks like they are fastened to the black poles with a rivet (I think), add epoxy, and reconnect everything. Since I used it, the tool is even looser. I am concerned with the safety. If that doesn't work, I will get a pvc pipe to splint the shaft. If I slice it length wise and us a few hose clamps, it should be more safe and secure. It will be ugly, but it's so crazy, it just might work. ... show more

  • Canot get service on pole saw that stopped working
I bought a Ryobi pole saw from Amazon thru Hintze LLC in Dec 2023. I used it once in December to cut two limbs off a tree and it worked well. Was not used again until Late May when storm damaged a tree and some surrounding area. I used this pole saw for two days to clear up the tree damage. It worked for a day and a half and now will not run (Not a battery issue). When I went to Ryobi, they stated Hintze is not registered with them so they will not honor the warranty. So now I have a broken tool that is within the written warranty that I cannot use. THIS IS TERRIBLE. How should I know when I buy from Amazon that I cannot get the product fixed. ... show more

  • Amazing tool for hard to reach tree trimming
I'm pleasantly surprised by how well this tool worked. Plenty of power with our 4.0ah batteries and I was surprised how long the battery lasts. We trimmed a lot of trees today and the battery still showed 4 bars left. It cut 3" limbs no problem. This thing is a time saver!
