Description

Haunted by his tragic past, Jack LeBlanc, a scarred shut-in living in the bowels of southern Louisiana, signs up for a clinical trial to test a miraculous new tissue-regeneration drug called Obsidian. It isn't long until Jack and the ensemble of other volunteers discover that the medication has absolutely nightmarish consequences. From the award-winning author of Writhe and The Rictus Grin and Other Tales of Insanity comes a suspenseful and horrifying tale about the perils of narcissism, ego, and revenge. Vanity Kills is recommended for fans of twisted medical thrillers, conspiracies, and monstrous body horror. Based loosely on Summers' 2020 award-winning feature film, Obsidian, Vanity Kills will make you question the side effects of every pill you take.Published by Rusty Ogre Publishing. PLEASE NOTE: Contains depictions of gore & violence, sex, death, LGBTQIA+ material, profanity, and the brief death of an animal. • Stunning Body Horror!
Format: Kindle
An absolutely amazing new body horror novel that will keep you guessing until the end! Very complex characters who you grow to both love and hate, as you learn the dark truths about their pasts. A mad pharmacologist on a quest for revenge. A miracle drug that does what it's supposed to a little too well...and holds some horrendous side effects. You'll find yourself caught up in the story, needing to know what happens next as the suspense and action yank you from scene to scene. If you love disturbing body horror and experiments gone wrong, you'll absolutely love this book! Check it out, you won't regret it! Trigger warnings for non consensual sex, graphic violence, torture, offensive language, death, and drugs. ... show more

  • Weird medical horror thriller mystery?
Format: Kindle
It sure how to describe this one, there are body horror, stories out already, but this is a story, not an attempt to cash in on.

  • I would recommend it to someone who enjoys reading horror type thrillers
Format: Kindle
Overall good book. I liked the basis of the drug trial and what was intended and what did to happen with it. I had a hard time keeping up with all of the characters and their stories throughoutthe book. I found some of the adult activities to be over the top. It turned into more horror than i expected. I would recommend it to someone who enjoys reading horror type thrillers ... show more

  • Beware of Dr. Walsh
Format: Kindle
Wow! This story really takes you for a ride. I have to say, the pace was perfect for this genre. There was enough backstory to understand each character's traumas. Now, in the beginning there were a lot of points-of-views to follow, but they came together extremely well. Everything tied in nicely, and it felt like it was written in movie form. Each scene kept me at the edge of my seat at the end. I'm hoping there will be a sequel to this story, but if not, the author definitely set this book up well to be a standalone. If you want some intense action and descriptive gore, definitely check out Vanity Kills. It'll really set off those horror vibes!!! ... show more

  • Graphic revenge story with realistic characters …
Format: Kindle
This was my second try at a book by this author. The first book wasn’t really for me but I’m glad I gave it another go. This book was an excellent medical thriller/revenge story. It was fast paced and keep me interested. The characters were interesting, believable and the dialog was realistic. I don’t want to spoil the story by giving anything away but I will say you should definitely pick this one up if you enjoy horror. Heads up — this book can be a bit graphic at times so watch out for triggers. I listened to the audio and the narration was very good and added to the overall effect of the story. ... show more

  • You will NOT want to miss this!!! No joke!
Format: Kindle
What an INCREDIBLE book! WOW! From start to finish you judge and then come to understand the characters through stunning descriptors and powerful imagery. So well written. So well executed. When I found out it was a movie (directed by the same writer no less) I was stunned. Truly a purchase you won't regret. ... show more

Is this book really 300+pages? Because I flew through it like it was novella length or something. Which is a good sign. It meant I was busier paying attention to the story than the clock. I'm super curious about this being a movie (which the author hinted about at the end) . Medical stuff always fascinates me, especially experiments of medicine, so this book grabbed my attention once I was made aware of its existence. I recommend this book for people who enjoy the same ... show more

Format: Kindle
Let’s start with the cover for this one! It boasts “an extreme body horror novel”, and while that’s true, it’s so much more than that. The characters are all flawed and complicated in a way that keeps us invested in their stories. The writing is easy to follow with subtle hints of what’s to come without giving away the twist. I would recommend this one for thriller readers as well as horror. ... show more
