  • Super Impressed with this unit.
Color: 10 to 45gallon tank【A】
I was a bit worried about ordering this unit since it was about half the price of some of them, but since I was installing this on the hot water heater in my shop instead of the house, I thought I would give it a try. Let me start off by saying, the hot water does not get turned on much in my shop but I do have a bathroom with shower in there for use with our pool in the summer months. We are on well water and the rotten egg smell from the hot water heater was very strong. I pulled the original anode on the electric hot water heater and it was coated with deposits and smelled bad. I did completely drian it before installing the new one. The install was super easy. I have now had this unit working for a week and have detected no odor at all. I am so impressed, i'm going to order the same unit for my house. I think the only difference with this anode and the more expensive one is the warranty, but I hate keeping up with warranty stuff so I was fine with this anode. To sum it up, the product does what it says and is at a great price. I am super happy. ... show more

  • Nice 20” Length But Green Light Stays Lit Whether Plugged into Probe or Not
Color: 80 to 120gallon tank【A】
I have an 80 gal electric water heater that is 12 years old. The original anode was about half gone, so it was time for replacement. My municipal water is from artesian wells and is slightly hard with hard water build up occurring at the faucets but no foul odors or taste. I decided to go with a powered anode as a replacement. The one I chose was for the 80-120 gal tank size and I selected it because it had a titanium/iridium rod that was a longer 20” length, and would provide a little more functioning surface area. It arrived in a box with a bubblewrap sleeve around the probe and the rod itself had a plastic tube protecting it. My old anode came out with the encouragement of an impact wrench and a 1-1/16” impact socket. Another reason I elected this brand of powered anode was it also used the 1-1/16” and the plug-end did not require a deep well socket to clear any connectors. Other powered anodes used a 1-3/16” that required a deep well for clearance. I wrapped the probe’s threads with the provided teflon tape and screwed it securely into the hot water heater. I plugged the power cord transformer into a GFI outlet and the cord plug into the probe. The transformer has a small green light indicating it is making power but I noticed that it was lit green no matter whether the cord plug was plugged into the probe or not. I cannot tell whether the probe is getting power and functioning or not. I only gave this 4 stars because other powered anodes, have a green light indicating the probe is functioning and then a red light if the probe is not working. I guess I will have to see over time if the tank stays intact and doesn’t corrode, which would mean the anode is indeed working. ... show more

  • This is worth the money
Color: 39 to 89gallon tank【A】
I had just replaced the original anode rods not much over a year ago then all of a sudden that nasty smelling water was coming out of our faucets once again. Buying another rod the right length was going to be 57.00 this one was double the price but it says it could work up to 20 years. Even if it only last 5 or 6 just not having to deal with that nasty smelling water it’s worth it. Also the hassle of replacing the rod is just worth paying more for. ... show more

  • It didn't help with my rv's hot water smell issue
Color: 10 to 45gallon tank【A】
I'm using this in my rv's electric water heater. I'm tied into well water and I'm still getting the same odor when I'm using it. I'm not saying that it is not helping the deterioration of my heater in the long term. It just isn't killing the smell of the hot water.

  • Time will tell
Color: 6 to 20 RVwater heater gallon tank【B】
I was somewhat skeptical of this product because I had never heard of such a thing before. Because I use my RV a lot, I also have to replace my anode rod a lot. I was concerned about the impact this powered anode rod would have on the water heater warranty. I contacted the manufacturer of my water heater about the use of this product and they shot me an email that totally evaded my question. I installed the anode rod and it appears to be working. The power source has 2 leads and only one place to plug one of them in to the rod. I emailed the products manufacturer and requested information on the second lead and never heard anything from them. I did read in one of the reviews that as long as the light was on, the rod was working. The light comes on when one lead is attached. I taped off the second lead to prevent any shorting. I did have to install an outlet inside the water heater cubby in order to plug it in. I only gave the product 4 stars because of the lack of comprehensive instructions. ... show more
