We use this for a composting bucket in our kitchen. We put biodegradable liners in it and it works great. It’s tightly covered so there’s no smell. The only issue is that it’s on the floor and fairly low, so sometimes loading it up is messy. I wouldn’t put it on the counter. Also, if the bag leaks the plastic liner is easy to clean. I’m really happy with the actuation and build quality. It is much better than the Walmart one I had, and the bag liner doesn’t have any dumb trick to it. My only complaint is that, while I was goo-gone-ing the massive impossible to remove sticker (definitely annoying), it lightly rubbed on a smooth concrete surface and the finish came right off. I needed a small waste basket under my desk that my little dog would leave alone. This one is perfect. With the top on, it hides the edges of the liner to some extent and he doesn't bother it. It is also very sleek and nice looking. The liner comes out to dispose of the trash and I use plastic bags so I just pull it out and discard with no mess. I wish I could find the exact-size bags for it. The closest I've found are pretty big and so I see the liner sticking out once the top is in place. It is smaller than you'd think but pretty decent sized compared to others I was looking at on here. After getting this one, I can't believe that there are smaller ones out there!? This is the smallest I'd go - although it may not fit in between the toilet and the wall so you'd have to do an oval one for that if that's what you're looking for. I used this for the front office for candy wrappers and used tissues for guests. It's the size of 1 medium size grocery bag if that helps i.e. Walmart bags are smaller than the grocery store bags, its perfect for the dark Walmart bags! Overall though, its pretty, clean looking, easy to dust and wipe down, shiny but not blinding (I got the dark grey one) and the spring works well! Go easy though if you step on it too hard it can fall down towards you lol! We've learned the right amount of pressure. I Love it!
