This battery powered spreader makes short work of applying fertilizers or insecticide pellets. We’ll see with time just how well it holds up to exposure to some of the corrosive nature of the products being spread. It will be very important to do good cleaning post use.

I have finally gotten a chance to use this product. Unfortunately, it was to spread ice melt on my walkway. First things first, read the description, this does NOT come with the battery. You will need an existing battery (and charger), or be prepared to spend more money to use this product. I like this new upgrade. Before, I would need to dedicate a hand to crank the spreader, but now I can pull a trigger and operate it with one hand. This is great, because I can carry extra ice melt, limiting the need to go back into the house to finish my main walkway. At $50 (price at the time of this review), I would gladly pick this up. IF I already had a battery and charger. If you don't have those already, consider shopping around for a bundle, or one that uses an existing battery you may already have available. ... show more

We used this spreader for grass seed. It made the entire process faster and the seed was more evenly spread. The battery lasted the entire use and then some. Cleaning the spreader only took a few minutes. All around we are satisfied with this product

Just what I needed for my yard. I have areas in my yard that need the occasional spot treatment with fertilizer or additional grass seed. This battery-powered spreader really is perfect for my needs. It will also handle larger areas (up to 5,000 sq. ft) and I fully intend to use it to its full capacity when the time comes. This is for the spreader only; no battery or battery charger included. It is, of course, compatible with a Mikita 18V battery; but my ‘knockoff’ battery fits just fine. Just make sure you have a Mikita (or Mikita compatible) 18V battery and you’ll be good to go! The spreader is lightweight but appears to be made of pretty heavy-duty plastic. I don’t expect it to last forever; but neither did the old metal one I had. At least this one won’t rust shut on me. I especially like that I can get into small areas; something I couldn’t do, even with my small two-wheeled spreader. There was nothing to assemble (except sliding the battery into place), and the directions for operating it were easy to follow. My only complaint is that the On/Off Switch (located below the handle), while conveniently placed, has to be continuously pressed to operate. I would rather be able to just squeeze once to power on and again to power off when done. Having to apply continuous pressure can be a pain, literally, especially for those of us with arthritis. ... show more
